Seems to have completed his lurch to the far-right - in addition to his vocal support of Trump, I suppose his 'defender of women and girls' schtick doesn't really wash any more...

I seem to remember Corbyn, rightly, getting a huge amount of stick for doing the same about "mistakenly" retweeting/liking anti-Semitic imagery.

No-one forced GL to retweet that post without bothering to check its content.

I think that leaders of political parties and MPs can reasonably be held to a higher standard than private citizens when it comes to due diligence.

Branding is simply a short cut for a belief system these days. Either you're ignorant of how modern advertising uses psychology to connect with consumers or are bad faith nit picking.

Branding is simply a short cut for a belief system these days.

Only for the really shallow-minded.

It's about balancing rights though so the harms cut both ways. And let's not forget the very same females that GC's are attempting to protect are subjected to more scrutiny they may not be comfortable with.

You could argue the potential harms of abuse of male teachers & carers of very young children given their track record outweighing their right to that kind of employment…but we wouldn’t dream of it. Consistentcy?

When we've discussed the "butch lesbian getting challenged" straw man in the past, posters have fallen into two camps:

  • I've never done it, never seen it, and never experienced it, so it must be very rare.
  • I get challenged sometimes, as soon as I speak the misunderstanding is resolved, the challenger is more embarrassed than I am, and I'd rather be challenged than have a woman or girl be harmed by a man in the ladies.

I suspect that it's rare and that the women being challenged don't mind that much, if at all.

You could argue the potential harms of abuse of male teachers & carers of very young children given their track record outweighing their right to that kind of employment…but we wouldn’t dream of it.

I do dream of it. I've suggested barring men from working in nursery settings on this very board after a report of a male worker being convicted of being a paedo, and I wasn't the only poster gunning for that outcome.

Yes proportionality in legal frameworks is necessary for practical exemptions and limitations to balance competing rights and maintain societal order. But we haven't quite got to the case law yet that satisfies proportionality for some single spaces. And in case you haven't noticed this is heavily contested.

Edited

FWS was clear that if a space says it's for women on the door, that means only the people born with fannies and went into a lot of detail (para 213 onwards) about how interpreting women as also including some men makes the service less effective for women.

The Supreme Court has the last word in case law.

They are a sub group of men as they are a sub group of women. Does that make them equally prone to the same behavioural patterns of men? That's debatable.

If the prison stats are anything to go by, trans-identifying men are actually more likely to be sexual offenders than their non-trans-identifiying counterparts.

"A is a type of B" doesn't translate into "therefore all Bs are A". Trivial example: all cars are vehicles, but not all vehicles are cars.

Some brands have set up a faux belief system to seem more authentic. That doesn't mean that all belief systems are brands.

Do they not teach set theory and logic in school maths classes any more?

I think the problem Genderist logic faces is that in classical logic, if one of your axoims is false than any conclusion is fair game.

In other words, if you assert as truth that A = !A, any statement after that evaluates to true because the fundamental statement is itself a contradiction. You are effectively framing the world as one in which not only does true = true and false = false, but also true = false and false = true. So anything true is true, and anything false is also true.

And of course, Genderist "logic" always starts with the axiom transwoman = woman, so....

It is problematic for you that one man does things you dont like?

And it is really, really important that you get your chance to say that repeatedly?

You really need to move on, he isnt that into you love.

How many data centres are we gonna need if everyone o the planet has to say online that they disagree with everyone they disagree with? Sheesh.

I should be allowed to say it, right? And yes, I do find Graham Linehan’s online behaviour disturbing.

You seem to take up an awful lot of online space disagreeing with people, so …

Don’t forget it is ‘modernity’, innit!

Fucking hell! Someone rebranded the classic marketing theory with a new image and believe think it is a cool and modern theory. It is almost like … marketing in action.

However, when you see the level of understanding and susceptibility to believe neatly packaged consultant speak that went into that piece of brilliance, all the other posts that come from the poster fall into place.

This is pretty much what the purpose of destabilisation of language was by that group of activists from the start. Make words that are describing a very specific group of people mean everyone and call that move ‘inclusive’, ‘tolerant’ and ‘progressive’ when the outcome is the very opposite of ‘inclusive’ and take a long term view (like the Denton’s report) and you are well on your way.

The strategy is not a new one. But add in a new look and just watch who believes.

Considering Gillard has tried the ‘it was different times’ distancing tactic over the past month, I suspect there are going to be many people in leadership roles across the world who will be doing the same.

It took the IOC over two decades to acknowledge their error, they were supposed to be sports scientists first with their finger on the pulse of innovation in performance science. But we can see how they were sold this philosophical theory as if it were established and proven science. They then doubled down until the general public’s voice pointing out the emperor was naked become too embarrassing and they had to back track.

I think it is always interesting to see the language pressure from those letters and interviews published from the 1970s. It serves as a reminder of the journey of ‘true = true and false = false, but also true = false and false = true’.

This conversation is like the hydra. You cut off one head and 3 more grow. They are now saying that it is anti-transmen for single sex toilets.

Therefore I am now boiling it down to- only females are allowed in female only spacesbecause of the known threat to women by men. If transmen don't want to go into female only spaces then I don't think men will care because they won't be causing a threat to them.

If a transman feels uncomfortable in a male space but is read as a man in a female space then they have to make a choice about what they want.

A reminder of how long these discussions have been happening.

This letter from Angela Douglas back in 1977 is something to remember.

Dear Sister,

In regards to the Sandy Stone controversy: genetic women- Gennys-have never had to suffer the discrimination, self-hatred or fear that a transsexual must endure and survive in their lives. Genetic women are not ridiculed as severely, killed, tortured and arrested simply because they are
transsexual, as are transsexuals.

Genetic women have many rights, in comparison to transsexuals, who have
none.

Genetic women cannot possess the very special courage, brilliance, sensitivity and compassion-and overview-that derives from the transsexual experience. Free from the chains of menstruation and child- bearing. transsexual women are obviously far superior to Gennys in
many ways.

As some of you have discovered. because of the severity of the genocidal attitudes we must deal with all of our lives, many transsexuals have learned how to fight without giving any quarter or showing any mercy.

Genetic women are becoming quite obsolete, which is obvious, and the
future belongs to transsexual women. We know this, and perhaps some of you suspect it. All you have left is your “ability" to bear children, and in a world which will groan to feed 6 billion by the year 2000, that's a negative asset.

Transsexual and veryproud,

Whenever women complain about work-related issues like, e.g. the glass ceiling, Leftists accuse us of "white feminism" and only caring about the middle classes. I was referencing that when I wrote 'ever-demonised "middle-class white feminists"'. Yet when I prioritise female prisoners, who are disproportionately likely to be victims of DV, child abuse, childhood poverty, and even brain injury, I get jumped on for that! It's as though Leftist misogynists don't actually care about supporting any women and just want all women to shut up.

You talk shite with your a few hundred women who have committed horrible violent crimes. Most women are sent prison for less than six months. The most common offence women are jailed for is shoplifting, a crime of poverty. Far from being kept in separate wings, trans-identified men were kept in female general population until about five minutes ago. That's how Karen White was able to sexually assault at least two female inmates whilst at New Hall.

It shows that you lack critical thinking, the ability to fact-check, and any kind of empathy that you a) victim-blame female prisoners locked up with intact male sex offenders, and b) think that gender pay gaps actually achieve anything. Has any company actually changed how much it pays women or preferentially hired women into higher-paid jobs because of pay gap reporting? (Pro-tip: in the UK, the answer is "no" because in the Equality Act makes it illegal to do that. Other jurisdictions may vary.)

Edited

Male prisoners are also disproportionately affected by DV, child abuse, poverty, brain injury and so on. That doesn’t mean they are not guilty of violent crimes. It is true that several hundred female prisoners have committed violent crimes out of the 3,500 that are currently prisoners indicating the vast majority of female prisoners are not violent. Your post merely confirms what I wrote, that over 90% of women are in prison for nonviolent crimes.

I stated that trans prisoners are kept in a separate wing, which you called shite and not fact checked, and referenced Karen White. Well that happened in 2017 and it wasn’t sexual assault but stabbing. It’s been almost a decade since transwomen were anywhere near women in prisons not “five minutes” as it is 2026.

a) female prisoners are not locked up with transwomen and haven’t been since 2017
b) gender pay gap reporting has been the basis of several successful court cases where women have received back pay and increased wages and not just for middle class workers at the BBC or rich actresses, but also the women working in Amazon warehouses and the women on the shop floors of major grocers like Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose because the men were being paid more than the women. It does make a difference because with no evidence, women can’t file a class action civil suit against a company that is not complying with the fair pay act. You seem to think just because there is a law on the books making it illegal that companies won’t pay men more than women for the same job, this is very childish. We all know they do and they get away with it. The gender pay gap reporting is essential to ensure companies actually do follow the law.

Yes, anyone who goes around calling people “sheeple” isn’t someone whose opinion I respect, wouldn’t you agree? Because that’s what @Igneococcus and I are referring to, a post earlier in the thread, in case you thought my comment was a dig at you.

Edited

I must admit to laughing at the accusation of women who don’t agree with the accuser being called sheeple. When those accusations are made by usernames prone to regurgitating shallow argument as if it was profound insight when it doesn’t even withstand basic analysis.

I am reminded though, Eresh, of usernames of the past who complained that their flawed arguments weren’t treated gently enough. The ‘I am only stating my opinion’ type argument, while that poster is rather prone to quickly resorting to name calling and using derogatory language for anyone who disagreed with them is common. Or perhaps it is more accurate to point out it is a commonality of some posters.

And there it is in plain sight, already in 1977: the fetishization of Womanhood combined with utter contempt and hatred for actual women. The spiteful grandiosity and the sour-grapes belittlement of the power to give birth because they can't have it.

I'm beginning to wonder if the reason some of the TRAs who come here bang on so much about us wanting to "erase" them, is because they dream of erasing us.

It's not all of them, of course; far from it; but the toxic, misogynist element was clearly part of the mix from very early on.

Why are you attempting to connect current usernames to older ones? What an odd pastime.

I think Graham Lineham knows what a woman is and is a racist misogynist. After all these misogynistic men are more likely to not want to treat a cross dressing man like they’re a woman. The fact he is anti-gender ideology doesn’t make him an ally for feminism in any sense. I personally despise the man. He is no ally for women.

female prisoners are not locked up with transwomen and haven’t been since 2017

This is not true though, it was a few years after 2017 before they stopped in England and Wales. And if someone has a GRC, can they be traced in the system currently? if a wing is in a female prison and the prisoners mix for part of the day, that is also not segregated.

Has they stopped putting male prisoners in female prison estates in Scotland yet?

To my mind, the more significant issue here are the numbers of misogynistic men who refusal to treat these men as men.

They presumably don't want to deal with men who present as effeminate. Much easier to declare them women and mak3 them women's problem to deal with. As an added bonus they get to yell at women who don't agree and call them bigots. Win/win.

Guys, he is available on X if you want to go chastise him.

Considering how thin-skinned and vindictive he is, why would we want to do that? He's spent the last week raving against Helen Lewis and JKR for not being suitably deferential to him (as well as Nick Wallis - but he apologised to him... I wonder why 🙄). He treats even the mildest criticism like a personal affront, excuse us if we don't want him dragging us out in front of his followers to screech at.

I started this thread to point out that Linehan is no friend of women because I was sick of the constant glazing of him I see on here. I'm as GC as they come, but he's consistently been a spiteful, vindictive little man, and his misogyny clearly shines through; just a few days ago he was posting pictures of Helen Puttick and crowing about her being a man. His immediate jump to mocking physical appearance absolutely reeks of misogyny, and he clearly has a baseline of what he thinks a woman 'should' look like - and woe betide any woman who falls short of that.
