Linehan tweeting misogyny and racism now

Seems to have completed his lurch to the far-right - in addition to his vocal support of Trump, I suppose his 'defender of women and girls' schtick doesn't really wash any more...

Linehan is a bit of an arse but I think you’re greatly overstating things here. Lots of people might find it a bit ridiculous to put a question about “how to identify the patriarchy in our society” considering how much effort is put in to reducing it compared to many other societies throughout history. Seems a bit “white guilt”-ish. And in Ireland that’s even more ridiculous than in England or the US.

Same for the coin. It’s silly. He’s not a far right extremist for finding it silly.

Unless of course that makes me a FRE for even seeing his point. 😂

Darragon · Yesterday 21:42

I’m not sure how you got that from those tweets. I think it’s rich that the Leaving Cert (in Ireland… self ID) is asking students about the patriarchy when an honest answer would likely get students on a list over there. He’s right that Disney fired a creator and changed leadership and it correlates with quality decline… there’s a lot of handmaidens out there. And the 50p is self explanatory, diversity usually extends as far as transing every possible issue.
So nice try OP but I’ve got eyes and can see for myself what he’s put and it doesn’t land where you think it does.

Nope, you’re going to have to explain to me how this is evidence of misogyny or racism.

Getting annoyed at a question about patriarchy in a politics and society exam? Retweeting someone saying Disney has gotten worse since it became 'female-led'?

I really think you're going to have to explain to me how that isn't misogynist...

I would genuinely love to hear your explanation as to how what he's saying isn't misogynist

I already did above the post you quoted and the one after but you clearly aren’t listening to reason so I’m out.

John Lasseter was fired for sexual harassment - or was that the handmaidens that did that?

"if we want to be a serious country with law & order, anything short of outright abolishment of the 19th amendment would be a grave half-measure".

The 19th amendment allowed women to vote in America. Is that statement also not misogynist?

Maybe because it wasn’t genuinely female-led but rather da menz appointed a girlie so as to make it all look nice and progressive instead of (for example) doing something about the Disney Channel’s habit of psychologically and in some cases sexually abusing their young female stars?

And of course the woman appointed wouldn’t have been chosen because she was the best candidate so it’s quite likely that quality would drop. Doesn’t mean NO woman could do the job and I’m certain he wasn’t saying that.

See the difference?

And him retweeting his support for abolishing women's right to vote?

LOL

If you think he’s arguing for removing women’s suffrage I think you’ve clearly misunderstood.

I think you’ve got a vivid imagination Giddy. His response regarding the question on patriarchy is because Ireland is about as patriarchal as a country can get. He’s being ironic. His retweeting of the post on Disney/ Pixar movies decline in quality is based on the fact that since this man was fired, production quality has declined.

He’s an utter knob and always has been.

Igneococcus · Yesterday 22:04

The thing is: Graham Linehan could be the devil incarnate (and I'm not saying he is) he would still be absolutely correct that men can't become women and that they should stay the fuck out of women-only spaces.

Retweeting HIS support? He’s retweeting someone else’s support, for obvious reasons. Try harder OP.

He wasn’t fired.
An investigation in 2019 found that no previous claims of sexual assault, propositioning or harassment had been filed against him, and there were no findings of secret settlements by Disney or Lasseter to any parties asking for a settlement.

DysmalRadius · Yesterday 22:16

Do those screenshots show that he retweeted something without comment/in agreement?

PrizedPickledPopcorn · Yesterday 22:16

Graham Linehan would argue with his own shadow, if the sun was in the right direction. I mean, he’s been fabulous about certain things, but the fact he’s a stubborn argumentative loose canon is one reason why he did it! If he was an easier, more amenable chap, he’d be too busy #beingkind to stand up against genderism.

Secondly, the irony of a question like that in Ireland! They are not known for having a strong record on women’s rights.
