Seems to have completed his lurch to the far-right - in addition to his vocal support of Trump, I suppose his 'defender of women and girls' schtick doesn't really wash any more...

I think the persecution drives them to forming ideological bed fellows in places they formally wouldn't have...

I see your point but when the bed fellows include Tommy Robinson and Katie Hopkins I have zero sympathy & nothing good to say.

Blimey, it's a real barrel-scraping Friday night tonight.

Isn't it just? Is it a full moon or just the school/university holidays?

Once you notice that horrible people can be right a lot of the time, you find yourself hanging out in strange places. And your own sense of what’s acceptable shifts a bit.

You stop mollifying people, start speaking very plainly, and find yourself tipping over the line at intervals when previously politeness would have made you think twice before expressing some observations. Again, the woman who said, ‘That’s a man!’ and “I’m not a vet but I know a dog when I see one!’, is not going to pause before saying other things which are true in some situations and not in others. I admire her ‘Free your face’ campaign. It doesn’t surprise me that she goes too far with criticising Islam, and probably crosses the line into racism- I don’t pay close attention but I assume that’s the issue..

RudePhthaloDalmadoodle · Yesterday 22:51

It's a bloke apparently reacting to bait without bothering to do any research and without explaining the reactions? They are legion. I suppose the "patriarchy" question and the silly little girls schtick about Pixar neatly tie it all together so it can go on the "feminism" board but honestly, it's a diversion. If people constantly post idiotic shite, block 'em

The diversity coin is from 2020 so a bit of delayed uproar there. The face side looks like a perfectly normal late QE2 era 50p and you get all sorts on the backs of these - if you go mad over the Royal Mint's offerings then please for your own safety don't visit Scotland; they've got Care Bears on some of the banknotes!

Lasseter took a voluntary six month sabbatical from Disney after multiple allegations of sexual harassment of multiple people over many years. He admitted to the behaviour and apologised. His contract later expired and was not renewed. As far as the critique on Disney's change of direction is concerned - trust me, they're following the money. There are plenty of similar cases where quality took a perceived nosedive in the view of loyal fans, and it was often in cases where men replaced women.

The "patriarchy" question seems completely standard and run of the mill to me, and I finished school in the '90s. I have no idea about what's even supposed to be controversial about it. Or why we're all supposed to care one way or the other about dudebro's knee-jerk opinions.

Chulainn · Yesterday 22:54

I don't think he was the only person to raise eyebrows, or tweet, about the patriarchy question. Several parents, possibly students, thought it a ridiculous question in 2026.

This is just another example of the right wing pundit disinformation complex in action.

Disney is not failing because of female leadership. The company's recent challenges stem from broad industry shifts—like streaming losses, declining box office returns for established franchises, and massive post-pandemic theme park costs. Leadership and character decisions are a separate, distinct issue.

Disney’s top-level leadership has historically been—and remains—overwhelmingly male. The company is currently led by CEO Bob Iger and managed by an executive team and Board of Directors largely composed of men. While women like Dana Walden hold prominent executive roles, the strategic direction of the company is dictated by a wider board.

The right has long been weaponising Disney's decline as a consequence of wokism/'diversity' in some movies but that's just their playbook to pretend the sky is falling down because of it & not other more cogent factors.

Lineham has form exploiting causes like women's rights to funnel his gullible fans to far right politics & he's doing the same here with this bogus appeal to 'merit'.

Of course his GC allies won't ever be convinced of his betrayal just like a person looks away from their partners abuse/infidelity because of the tradeoffs.

ApplebyArrows · Yesterday 22:58

I don't particularly agree with him, but a disdain for certain leftist ways of approaching the topics of race and sex is not itself racist or sexist.

I don't know what's going on with the 19th amendment thing, I imagine like most of us he doesn't really know what the 19th amendment is and made a mistake in his rush to agree with the rest of the post.

We’re not Graham Linehan’s mum. HTH.

But the OP’s telling on him, to you, and you’re a woman, so it’s your responsibility to tell him off. And if you don’t, you’re a misogynist. So there.

The point is Linehan's real 'job' is to point gullible women towards the far right via a pretend shared interest in women's rights.

And him retweeting his support for abolishing women's right to vote?

Retweets aren't necessarily endorsements.

Ah, ok!

Glad you let me know. How utterly dastardly! Those poor gullible women! And to think I could have been ensnared!

You probably already are. I've lost count of how many sheeple on this forum are now loud & proud reform converts.

It's called "demanding an appropriately high standard of evidence before interpreting someone's actions as having a particular intent", aka "not jumping to conclusions".

One of the reasons why people lose faith in the political Left is the utter screaming disdain for anyone who disagrees with them, as exemplified by your use of the terms "sheeple" and "cucking".

You'd think that the Left would have learned this after Bigotgate, but no...

You don't win people around to the causes of the NHS, social housing, fair pay, workers' rights, and working class solidarity by sneering at the very people you should be recruiting and calling them stupid.

Except the far right has no intention of doing 'right' when it comes to women's rights in general unless you cluelessly consider a return to full time white incubator duty one.

There's no 'winning' ideologues with a single policy objective. Of course 'sheeple' & 'cucks' doesn't apply to everyone else as in the voting majority.

And the idea that its wokism & not the economy that decides elections is purely wishful thinking.

Those of us on the actual left, not the pretendy left, think that both the far right and the pretendy left (Labour, Lib Dems, Greens, SNP, Plaid etc) are a a bunch of screaming misogynist activist whackjobs.

"if we want to be a serious country with law & order, anything short of outright abolishment of the 19th amendment would be a grave half-measure".

What exactly am I misunderstanding here?

See how you had to explain what the 19th amendment was or no one would have had a clue what you are on about? It isn’t explained in the tweet, so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt here.

I'm sorry, did you really just say the word "sheeple" and then expect anyone to take you remotely seriously?

Linehan is a bell end a lot of the time. It turns out, so are you.

There's a lesson there somewhere.
