Anyway. I think the point at which folk have to state that they really are not arseholes is the point after which they may have already been arseholes.

I'm aware of the process and the need to investigate fully - my concern is that the process hasn't started and possibly won't start. I really hope I'm wrong, given his arrest, but feet can drag when it suits.

I would be intrigued to hear what the charge was for.

I would also be intrigued as to what a brain outage is and if one would absolve you of all crimes.

Christ on a cracker, that video. He’s completely unhinged and - of course - there’s the usual accusation that this is all fascism/nazism.

But the bit at the beginning where he says they’re arrested for jokes just because they’re trans. Is he trying to explain all this away as “bantz”?!

Probably, re bantz. And just to clarify re ill, I don't know if he's had a medical diagnosis, but he's clearly mentally unwell in some way.

I don't think his comments, vile as they are, are a police matter at all, and come under free speech. Bringing his employer into disrepute is a separate thing, and he does seem to have contravened their social media policy.

I was thinking he must have been arrested for other posts, but one of the articles above is saying it's for his Ann Widdecombe post.

I think that was the trigger post, then they looked further. But obviously for headlines and relevance the media will hang it on that one. It will be interesting to see it play out amd what the charge actually is.

Complained of biased and inaccurate reporting to BBC News about coverage - Heather was described as "she". Pointless of course.

The number of households paying the TV licence fee has dropped by about half a million - it was all over the news the other day. I’m sure there are many reasons why people decide it’s not worth it. My reason was Martine Croxall being disciplined for wrongface on the news, on top of all their other lies and misinformation about transgender issues. I’m sure there are many like me.

Yeah, I take your point, universities are notoriously captured, so I wouldn't be surprised if there is a distinct lack of enthusiasm to crack on with the process, as another poster pointed out, the time of year will be a factor as well. I hope, though, that given the high profile this man's disgusting comments have achieved, they won't be able to ignore it. We won't see any immediate action, though, annoyingly.

The uni has had an X post up for 4 days now regarding its stance on the matter. The comments make good reading.

I agree. I suspect they will find some excuse to sit on this until the police investigation is finished and then take it slowly from there if they absolutely have to. My money is him still being in post this time next year, but with a chunk of that time spent on paid leave 😡

The comments are quite...something. and correct. If your finest achievement is associating with Dolatowski, that says a lot.

She deleted her tweet after enough time had passed for it to be seen by a very large number of people. Just imagine if someone who was already radicalised read her tweet and decided to carry out what she wanted? Inciting arson attacks to commit murder by burning people alive inside buildings because of their skin colour isn't a laughing matter and her tweet could have led to a tragedy happening. Her tweet including the motive was clear as crystal- she added "if that makes me racist so be it" onto the end.

Just about everyone on the far-right including the usual lot- Tommy ten names Robinson, Elon Musk and Trump were all expressing outrage about British people "not having free speech" and "being arrested for a tweet". Now she's profiting from a monetised Twitter account earning money from Elon Musk by tweeting stuff that will receive engagement and is set to profit from a book too.

Heather posted a very nasty tweet about an already dead person. it's not a threat or incitement it's just a nasty tweet. And all the people on the far-right defending "are Lucy" are mass reporting her to the police and her employer.

I seem to be missing something but people "shouldn't be arrested for a tweet" right? Trump, Elon Musk, Nigel Farage, Tommy etc say that multiple times a week and how Britain is such a bad country whenever this happens and how we "don't have free speech"? So I presume all these people should be outraged Heather has now been arrested for a tweet, right?

Or if we're going to start arresting people who make mean tweets then the police are going to be busy arresting Tommy Robinson (who makes false malicious allegations against brown people on an almost weekly basis now) and Reform politicians and voters?

People really need to make their minds up what "free speech" should actually mean and the threshold for when people should be arrested for an online post. You can't have one rule for the far-right and another for minorities and LGBT people.
