I guess when one gets arrested for this type of crime ones devices are looked at?

MarjorieWestriding · 16/07/2026 13:30

Does anyone know what he's been charged with?

murasaki · 16/07/2026 13:31

I would have assumed for any sort of crime commited online that they would be. Or should be. But we all know what they say about 'assume'.

Thoughts and prayers with the officers involved in that search. I hope trauma specialists are on standby.

I’ve complained about the BBC report as it says nothing about his transgender identity.

murasaki · 16/07/2026 13:57

A picture tells a thousand words though.

The only photo in the BBC report is of Ann Widdecombe.

Theworldisyouroystercatcher · 16/07/2026 14:05

It’s not just the picture. It’s the aggression and entitlement that says male to me and the irony is that they just don’t see that this clearly tells us they are male

murasaki · 16/07/2026 14:05

Hmm, I'm sure it wasn't when I first looked. Other articles are using a photo of him in a red jacket on the campaign trail though.

SidewaysOtter · 16/07/2026 14:07

It’s gone down a storm with Sparkles:

What a delightful “young woman” comments on Widdecombe death
ALovelyPinkUnicorn · 16/07/2026 14:14

@SidewaysOtter thats the TRAs in a nutshell!
”LoOk wE caN sAy nAsTy shiT anD be threatening on LInE!! But NOOne ELse can!!!

murasaki · 16/07/2026 14:15

Well I agree with him in as far as I too hope no physical harm comes to him or his friends, that would be appalling. Although I doubt it would. And he'd do well to bear in mind the physical threats he and his friends have previously made. It's a legal process now, and both sides need to respect that.

But I am allowed to scoff at the dignity bit, given the little dignity Herbert granted Ann Widdecombe in life and death.

So if he's unhappy, then #sadtimes

Well Aberdeen Uni put a lecturer under a stressful year long investigation for being gender critical and playing the Harry Potter soundtrack am sure!

Is that for real or a pisstake!

LuckyHazelFox · 16/07/2026 14:21

Yes very welcoming news. Now where to incarcerate him if it comes to it. He won't be feeling so brave in front of a bunch of burly men.

murasaki · 16/07/2026 14:23

To be honest I don't think it merits a custodial sentence. A suspended one, limited online access and a community service duty of litter picking would be ok with me.

murasaki · 16/07/2026 14:24

Oh, and a dismissal for gross misconduct.

For real… my cousin who was studying there told me..:. Whilst I was moaning about the embarrassing state of Edinburgh Uni and their capitulation to the madness! I’ll try find a link.

It’s the same level as Lucy Connelly so she was over penalised if there’s a difference in outcome.

murasaki · 16/07/2026 14:34

Yes, i do think she was over penalised as it goes. There is a difference in that she was inciting violence in an ongoing event, rather than commenting on an event that had happened, so her comments could have had ramifications that Herbert's couldn't, but how do you link the violence to her directly? I'm not convinced prison was the answer there either.

Punishment, sure, but prison? I think no for both.

I suppose it depends on the direction his arrest and charge is going to take. Interesting u turn from the police.

True, until the charge is revealed, no one knows what the sentencing guidelines might be.
