The yacht was never owned by Johnny Depp. It was built in 2018 under the name Infinity for an American billionaire, Eric Smidt. He sold it in 2022 to an Australian businessman called Brett Blundy, who renamed it Cloud 9. J.K. Rowling bought it from him in 2023.
