Ok, so I know the educated classes hate us and our Dear Leader, but she's really not doing herself any favours here...

I’ve bought some Soleros. I believe they are akin to an ice lolly ‘split’.

Whether my digestive tract will play ball or not with these delicacies is another matter entirely.

They're quite refreshing, good luck.

I'm going to stock up on calippos tomorrow. Fruity, and you get the gloomy juice in the bottom as it melts. Yum.

atalkingtree · 21/06/2026 23:50

I read it as the goblins being a narrative device to, in part, explore the idea of morality being relative. For example property rights are considered very differently between goblins and wizards. It also kind of maps onto the disputes over what intellectual property is in the real world.

Trying to draw weak analogies between goblins and specific groups of humans, I think misses more interesting readings.

So? I find just because I agree with someone in one thing, I don't have to agree with them in everything.

It's incredibly silly to think it's all or nothing.

"If I were to remain silent, I'd be guilty of complicity."

-Albert Einstein

This isn't about a trivial issue like toilet etiquette but a genocide.

murasaki · 21/06/2026 23:58

What about all the other people who haven't said anything? You're determined to find her an evil person, it's really quite odd.

We know you don't care about women, so stop trying to pretend you do.

You've said nothing whatsoever about the Darfur genocide. What conclusion should we draw from that?

murasaki · 22/06/2026 00:01

People I don't recall saying anything about Palestine, a small sample.

George RR Martin
Mary Berry
Harry Kane
Ainsley Harriott
Kylie Minogue
Tim Henman

So what?

If you promote yourself as a global champion of women's rights then you kind of have an obligation to remain consistent.

Lots to say about Israel's great foe Iran but nothing to say about much worse in Saudi Arabia? Why is this?

murasaki · 22/06/2026 00:05

Your words, not hers, I suspect. And you seem adamant that women's rights should be subservient to those of unwell/ predatory men, so anything you have to say on the matter is dubious at best.

GC ideology isn't the authority on women's rights.

Well, quite.

For that matter, where are all the prominent transwomen speaking out on the plight of women in Gaza, Afghanistan, Nigeria? You know, showing concern and empathy for the class they think they belong to?

Whataboutery won't save JKR from her silence btw.

murasaki · 22/06/2026 00:10

Any response to GreySky's post? The transwomen have been very very silent.

Unsurprisingly. As they are men.

The British government doesn't support an ongoing genocide in Darfur by its allies. See the difference?

Well it's rather silent, which according to you is the same thing.

How do you know they don't? They are hardly comparable given JKR has an X following of 14 million followers. Queers without a high profile are more likely to support activist groups like Queers For Palestine.

Which is a bit like turkeys voting for Christmas, but I'd expect nothing less.

Point me to some high profile transwomen speaking out about women in Nigeria, Afghanistan, Saudi or similar and I'll read what they have to say...

The point is not whether the British Government should say anything but to be critical of them when our tax payers money is supporting human rights violations. In other words British citizens haven't given permission for their government to be supportive of Israel's genocide & yet they are.

You'd think with all JKR's political power on the government she would say something. But nary a whisper.

murasaki · 22/06/2026 00:23

Emily, you need to understand that no one owes you or the world an opinion on every matter.

And since you are so keen on Einstein, it's worth pointing out that your appearances on these threads are an excellent example of the definition of insanity that is often credited to him (although may not be him, before you start...).

Edited

I never said anyone "owes me an opinion" I simply pointed to JKR's hypocrisy. That you need to drag me into this fact as if it will change it sounds more like "insanity".

GreyskySexRealistsky · 22/06/2026 00:28

She is not obliged to be a politician nor issue a statement on your demand.

She is a private citizen who can pick and choose what she speaks up on.

This idea that she MUST be political on other political subjects but should shut the fuck up about women's rights is actually hilarious.
