who menstruates?

Seen in a wokeworkplace toilet in Scotland (I have NCd for this) The label on the tampon basket says:
Who menstruates?
girls menstruate as well as women
intersex people, who have both male and female reproductive organs
non-binary people with female reproductive organs
some transgender men

The second one doesn't feel correct to me: I'm aware that "intersex" is no longer used, but even in ovotesticular dsd, is it right to say "both male and female reproductive organs"? can anyone advise please, then I can pass it on to the wokesters management?

You're mixing up your necessary and sufficient conditions.

Its not necessary to menstruate to be a girl/ woman (and the statement above doesn't say that it is). But it is sufficient.

Wouldn't it be great if formal logic was taught in schools?

Is there also a sign above the toilet roll that says ‘who shits?’

What is the point of it?

That's actually quite a good question. At least it provokes more thought than the menstruation one. Plants, fungi, monera and protists don't. Most animals do, but there's a fuzzy zone of things like jellyfish that do have a stomach but using a combined mouth/anus that is used both to consume food and expel waste. Which I'm not aure really counts as 'shitting'.

I think it would have to be 'All members of the kingdom Animalia that have a linear digestive tract with a separate mouth and anus.'.

Then for the mirror question it's even more complex - you might say 'Organisms that have sight as their primary sense, and sufficient self awareness to recognise their own image.' But organisms that don't recognise themselves might use a mirror for another purpose. And those with an alternative primary sense may still have sufficient visual and self awareness to recognise their mirror image, just as we recognise our own voices.

So the simple option is bin the sign. But if you're really bored/motivated you could correct it and then add a series of scientific discussion points on all the other items in the room.

I'd be very tempted to do the latter, but suspect it would take people about 30 seconds to work out who'd done it.

I love it, @ProfessorBinturong ! Though I'm not sure I like reading the term "fuzzy zone" in the context of poo. Conjures too vivid a toilet-bowl image.

I don't think these sorts of helpful signs should be restricted to toilets. Cafes should have "who eats" and "who drinks" signs. Health & safety respiratory protection equipment, and anti-Covid masks etc, should have "who breathes". It is shameful that we are left in such ignorance.
