M&S Colchester claim mixed changing is ‘completely safe’ for women.

How is it that M&S can continue to flaunt the high court ruling and do not offer single sex changing rooms?

Abouterf in this video confronts the store manager and is fobbed off and told that it’s head offices policy:

Colchester @marksandspencer I asked where the women’s changing room was to try on swimwear. Manager Andrew (he/ his /him) says gender neutral changing areas are “completely safe” for women and girls. For asking him this question, he told me to leave the store.

Neither I nor anyone else would be able to find this stuff if it didn't exist.

How do you think it comes into existence?

By perverts installing hidden cameras in places where women and girls are in a state of undress, downloading the video material for their own pleasure and then offering it to other perverts for viewing and downloading.

And the easiest places to instal hidden cameras are those used by both sexes, that is, mixed sex changing rooms and toilets.

We are not the perverts. The men with the cameras are the perverts.

This is all just wishy washy word salad manufactured panic nonsense, with no substance.

You find what you search for on the Internet, and the algorithm responds.

Then you're radicalised and probably need a break from the Internet.

Radicalised about what?

Thinking that women's sex based rights should be respected? You think that's 'radicalised'? 🙄

Would you care to tell us how the came i to existence?

Safeguarding should be an entitlement, and I can't think of a single reason why a company shouldn't have an obligation to be clear, open and consistent in its policy.

Edited

Safeguarding is another term transphobes have appropriated, without understanding what it means.

Safeguarding is for children and at risk/vulnerable adults. It's not a catch-all defence for your transphobia.

To imply m&s have a safeguarding duty to full grown adults is ridiculous.

Honestly - it's like transphobes are either completely brainwashed or incapable of individual thought and/or using Google

That letter from M&S is so disingenuous and vague - "most", "the vast majority", "usually". They need to be clear, open and 100 per cent consistent.

I thought the same.

HootyMcBoobys · Yesterday 15:01

It's not manufactured nonsense.
I can tell you that in the last year my daughter has worked in retail (first part time job as a student) that FOUR men have been caught wanking in the changing rooms. And she was handed the clothes with a big smirk by one of the men - once he left, she unfolded the clothes to find they were covered in semen.

And that's JUST her store, on HER shift. God knows how many times it happens all over the country.

Why would you allow your child to return to that environment after the first incident, if this were the case?

What is wrong with you?

Of course there is such a thing - see the recent SC ruling which is very clear.

Why do you think women don't deserve them?

Why do you think that people who believe in basic scientific facts are a 'radicalised gender critical cult'.

That's absolutely unhinged and highly misogynistic talk

Any why on earth do are you bringing race into this?

Many of the most vocal GC women are not white.

What are you actually trying to achieve here?

heathspeedwell · Yesterday 15:04

You can tell it's half term.

When they bring the misogyny out in full force, you gotta hand it to them

😭

heathspeedwell · Yesterday 15:06

@Joanneken can you please explain why you think 'there is no such things as sex based rights'?

The “sex-based rights” rhetoric ends up policing all women’s bodies and looks including women who are masc, disabled, intersex, older, or who do not conform to gender expectations, because attempts to enforce “biological” boundaries in public spaces inevitably affect many women, not just trans people.

Sex based rights is just another dog whistle.

Honestly - do they give you people a handbook to learn? Don't you get tired of repeating the same script non stop?

Anjoola · Yesterday 15:07

Perhaps a more effective approach might have been for Abouterf to get changed in the mixed sex changing rooms, but on seeing a man in there have a PROPER panic attack and melt down about feeling threatened!

Of course, there's something wrong with @HootyMcBoobys , not the revolting men wanking into clothes. It's all her fault.

Do you think it's funny to try to humiliate women who don't want to undress in front of strange men?

What is wrong with ME? How about what is wrong with the disgusting perverts who do it?

She would be exposed to the same in any retail environment.

You are really something, jumping to ask the Mother of a victim what is wrong with them, rather than addressing the elephant in the room.

MEN accessing female spaces.

No sex based rights? Okay.

So females shouldn't be allowed to ask for a female clinician?
Pregnancy protections and entitlements don't exist?
Of course sex based rights exist.

Mental.

You can try and patronise me all you like chicken, you're an outlier who mistakes online hivemind for real world opinion.

How will you feel down the line, knowing you were part of a hate movement? Could never be me.

Pingponghavoc · Yesterday 15:10

I want to go to my nearest store and check it out. It's had a bit of a refurb and I can imagine the downstairs changing room, where there is only womens clothes says 'fitting rooms' and one upstairs at the back of the men's section could say 'mens'.

But its bloody hot. Maybe next week.
