Just doing a little research and thought, if anyone has seen the full range of reasons - it would be all of you!

Because ancient roman times.
Yes, they really said that.

The anti-women squad that turn up to protest us protesting our government's failure to inaction the SC's judgement like to shout 'not every women has a clittie'.

Ewwwww.
After the Supreme Court Judgement, it was, "Give us wombs and gives us titties".
I've luckily missed the clitties one.

InSlovakiaTheCapitalOfCourseIsBratislava · 26/05/2026 20:29

It’s a shame there isn’t a hairy boak reaction option

CassOle · 26/05/2026 20:33

... because sex is a constellation of points.

LazyFoxy · 26/05/2026 20:35

Cos "intersex is being both sexes" or "sex is very complex"
"HRT (no- X sex hormones) makes me just like you" " HRT changes DNA"
"some women can't get pregnant"
" we all start off female"

🦇💩

Cattenberg · 26/05/2026 20:37

Because the old-fashioned, binary notions of sex reinforce gender stereotypes. After all, people only want to know if their new babies are boys or girls so they can dress them up in blue or pink.

ClematisBirdbath · 26/05/2026 18:10

Name changed for this one.

Someone I know with a trans identified child born through IVF actually said she thought that maybe swimming around in all those hormones she'd been taking for 9 months meant that the boy she gave birth to was actually female inside.

I honestly didn't have a single thing to say to that. I think I just quickly changed the subject.

Sorry, that's not really about binary sex not being a thing.

Edited

Good lord.

Because Eve was made from Adam's rib and therefore is really just a clone of Adam with rearranged parts.

It’s damning this is the least mental suggestion.

... because it is bimodal.

... because 'intersex' is as common as red hair.

... because the concept of sex is a colonial construct.

Any idea what they mean by bi-modal in this context?

It was said so much by TRAs that there was a video made by the Paradox Institute to refute it.

Yep, I remember that one too. Haven’t heard much from that poster in a while!

BruachAbhann · 26/05/2026 21:33

Because she'd watched a film about a trans kid and being trans was 'innate' and feelings trump biology 🙄

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 26/05/2026 21:43

Someone today was arguing that "sex" meant two different things, one was your reproductive sex and the other was apparently to do with what sex traits you have, so according to them, if you had (fake) boobs, long hair and a high voice (or something) that made you female even if at the same time you could impregnate women and were therefore male... Or something. A new one on me!

DialSquare · 26/05/2026 22:38

Because some men can have an “essence of woman”

I think you could buy that in Boots in the 80s

Does this count? From a FB thread today

Henry Erik Böttcher
No, sex is not biological, is no fact, is not natural, is not THE truth- biological sex is a theory that describes visible and internal biological facts. So does gender. biological sex is strictly cis oriented, gender includes everyone. Therefore biological sex is not only ignorable , it is toxic.

Huh????

Cattenberg · 26/05/2026 22:50

Because none of us can be sure of our chromosomes unless we've taken a DNA test (see DSDs). Also, no one can see your chromosomes, so they're not important in day to day life, but other people can see the effects of hormone treatment, your hairstyle and your clothing choices.

Yep! We had lots of fun with that quote at the time!

ElenOfTheWays · 26/05/2026 22:51

But but but ... intersex/sex is on s spectrum/not everyone is either male or female
Ladybrain/pink brains, blue brains
Because I said so.

ManyShapesOfPasta · 26/05/2026 20:26

Yes, they really said that.

I missed that one! How is it supposed to work? Or didn't they say?

mrshoho · 26/05/2026 22:57

Sex is assigned at birth and doctors get it wrong sometimes and tick the wrong box

Delphinium20 · 27/05/2026 07:31

(from mother of identical twins) "The in utero hormone bath may have had a different balance from one twin vs. the other"

CassOle · 26/05/2026 20:33

... because sex is a constellation of points.

🤭

Because…because…it’s actually really complex.

SueKeeper · 27/05/2026 09:03

Because they've heard of a bimodal distribution and thank it sounds clever but don't realise you have to actually have something measurable along the x axis

Because binary sex is just a colonialist idea

ApplebyArrows · 27/05/2026 09:08

An extremely intelligent man I knew well on another forum arguing, seriously, that sex was on a spectrum because different people have different levels of sex hormones.

You might as well argue that sex is on a spectrum because some men are shorter than some women!
