You have to be logged in. Then you can change user name.
The poster in question says she was logged in.

No you can't. You have to put in your password to change. Well I do. So "Nephew using account accidently left signed in," doesn't wash if the username was changed.

I don't. Maybe different on the app.

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 19/05/2026 15:40

This does not smell right at all. It's not one username, it's not the person who came in here apologising and there has been weird messaging from HQ. It's not normal...

GreyskySexRealistsky · 19/05/2026 15:46

The nephew (if there is one) probably just changed the username for an account that was already logged in (the poster says she left her account logged in. Log ins don't expire).
It's easy to change username. You just type it in under "Add your message here -> Your username".
I do agree MN should have explained though.

It's still creepy TRA behaviour whether the perpetrator has an aunt or no.

ArabellaScott · 19/05/2026 17:33

Well, yes, sure.

And could count as malicious comms, etc.

I'm not on the app I'm going to check I haven't changed my name for a while so maybe I'm wrong or it's changed. Unless you're only talking about changing it for PMs? I don't know about that.

If you are signed in, which you need to be to post, you just go to settings and type in a new name and hit 'save'. That's all.

Shedmistress · 19/05/2026 20:27

It is amazing though that a nephew worked this all out so quickly IMHO.

Yes. I see you are right. I might have been thinking of a different site.

It definitely used to be the case that a name change needed the password.
