I knew a lot of this but the machinations exposed clearly are fascinating.

(it’s probably been linked 20 pages deep in another thread but…)

I am the clumsiest person I know. I buy a protective case as soon as I buy a new phone and the case goes on immediately. I drop my phone upwards of 10 times a day; last night I dropped it at the top of the stairs and it fell down to the bottom and bounced to about knee height from hitting the skirting board so hard. Not only does my phone remain pristine inside the case, there is only the slightest of scratches on the case itself. I dropped it last week on the concrete path outside my work, not a mark on it. The story offered re Tarquin's phone isn't remotely credible. One might even say it was total bollocks.

Edited

My phone lives in a impact resistant case because I've broken so many in the past. It only ever comes out when it's being cleaned or its gone in to the manufacturer to be looked at.

The only way a phone comes out of a case is if the case is loose from being put on/taken off too often or the case is damaged. Or it's a crappy cheap one which doesn't offer any protection.

No matter how many times I've dropped my phone, the case has protected it. Even the time I dropped it down a stairwell.

This case got surprisingly little advance publicity. Did anyone know it was happening?

SabrinaThwaite · 01/05/2026 13:12

I left it as ‘sensitive image’ because I didn’t want to put anyone off their lunch.

Not gonna lie, this WAS appreciated.

Shedmistress · 01/05/2026 14:17

I mean this is a LOT of fuss and bother about a non existent scuffed phone, no?

I didn't. Just came across it on NW's X feed yesterday and posted on the other GL thread.

Well he tried robbery, threats, malicious communication, robbery again I believe, and then settled on criminal damage.

I can't imagine anyone taking him seriously ever again. But then I couldn't imagine 99% of this shit happening in the first place

Yeah, the police, CPS, courts don't have anything better to do, right?

🤔😂

It's actually pretty disgusting tbh.

It's actually pretty disgusting tbh.

A lot of police forces no longer do anything about shoplifting or burglary or mobile phone theft (which is endemic in some cities) but they investigate something utterly trivial (a damaged mobile phone) and refer it to the CPS, who then decides it's worth taking up valuable court time for. (Bear in mind that rape victims wait years to have their cases heard.)

What are these people smoking?

My word of the day is now 'hefty'.

Absolutely no idea why <whistles>

Madcats · 01/05/2026 14:32

Hopefully NW will be able to interest some of the mainstream press in a write up of the whole ££ waste of time and taxpayers’ money.

Judge coming back at 1445

OP posts:
SabrinaThwaite · 01/05/2026 14:52

Judge currently recapping that phone was 4 years old and no reliable before and after photos, and that Tarquin claims that the phone was immaculate and that the phone cover came off when GL threw it on the ground, damaging it.

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 01/05/2026 14:55

I had a conversation with a family member today, discussing elder care (and how we're not getting any state help at all with it and what would happen to the elderly people involved if we didn't step up - they'd probably be found dead sooner or later), and he brought up on a tangential issue (we were discussing lack of state funded institution accountability) how the law doesn't work for normal law-abiding people any more. I had a lot of court cases to add to his list of 'this is ridiculous', including this one.

It's disgusting time is being wasted on this. Someone in the police should have noticed the photo of 'damage' was undated. There's no way they can prove Glinner did it. What a waste of public funds.

EmpressDomesticatednottamed · 01/05/2026 14:55

Glinner not guilty!

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 01/05/2026 14:56

Nick Wallis

@nickwallis
C may have changed her phone case twice on 19 Oct. But that was a v busy conf and we do not accept that was to inspect the phone as to its condition therefore we cannot be sure that the damage to SB's phone was caused by GL on 19 Oct when he took the phone

SabrinaThwaite · 01/05/2026 14:56

Then the series of phone calls to the police, no mention of phone in first call, then a call claiming harassment a few days later, then another one from Lynsay Watson. Police witness confirms that complaint of damage to phone came from someone other than Tarquin.

An excellent outcome. Do each side pay their own legal fees?

Fabulous.

Although what a waste of everyone's time and money.

I look forward to Nick's blog on this....

SabrinaThwaite · 01/05/2026 14:58

Sorry was behind there.

We therefore find Mr Linehan Not Guilty of criminal damage and the appeal against the conviction of Nov 2025 is therefore allowed.

EmpressDomesticatednottamed · 01/05/2026 14:58

He wasted a bloody 999 call about his bloody phone.
Pillock.

I anticipate various conniptions and heads falling off.
I think this silly young fool was set up by a bunch of older manipulative men, made an arse of himself and they didn't get their scalp.

We pay for Tarquin's... 🙄
