Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

A Reddit discussion focussing on Trans and not being shut down / users downvoted into oblivion

https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1sqj09b/new_university_free_speech_complaints_system_to/

turns out some people on Reddit are open minded after all. This specific sub Reddit does not show up and down votes I think so have half fixed the echo chamber effect

I don't know what comments you were reading but all I saw was 'transphobia', 'transphobia' , 'transphobia' , 'transphobia' . 🤔

Well yes - BUT - there are responses and they have been allowed to stay!!

Ok I waded in again, I pushed on past the claptrap, and there were some comments that were pointing out the errors to the hive mind. Maybe the mods on Reddit have realised there are more clicks in controversy than in an echo chamber.
Given the large amount of intractable bullshit that formed most of the comments though I don't think they're going to change any minds, but if ever there was a place that need Sunshine it's Reddit.

Yeah maybe I over egged it a bit BUT there is something there even if not much

The trans brigade very unhappy at the idea of free speech being protected. How many trans professors have lost their jobs for expressing their opinion? Zero.

Yes "anti trans bigots" ad nauseum

Sladuf1 · 21/04/2026 00:22

I’ve managed to find some comments that haven’t been removed or downvoted into oblivion. Good grief! I am surprised. I am especially surprised ones like this have survived:

“Debating about areas where transwomen should be treated as women and where they shouldn't be, isn't the same as saying that their existence is up for debate.”

Someone disagreed with that and claimed it is putting trans people’s existence up for debate, The reply to this was, “It's not. This is the level of fanaticism that people are pushing back against. Do you really think we should not debate if trans women should play in the women's sports category?” Hear, hear!

One of the first comments I read on it said it all though. Apparently the employment tribunal system is, “easy to weaponise,” to protect the bigotry of those who have brought claims. Riiiiiiigggghhhht 🙄.

And yet that’s not much, if anything in the way of diversity of thought on here really is there?
That I can see, there is just eliminationism.
I mean I understand that not everyone is inclusive. But this just feels like mockery and hate.
Personally I’m an intersectional feminist. And that includes trans women. So I’m probably not long for this place. I’ve just been appalled with it.

CharIi · Today 20:47

??? That’s an echo chamber. It’s like bickering about if a shade of green is mint or sage 🤷🏻‍♀️
Honestly it really is cooked here!

Lots of people come on to this board and posit an alternative / pro-trans viewpoint. The problem is that their arguments don’t stack up. They rely on an article of faith that (to shorten it) states “TWAW and TMAM.”

And like every other faith system that humanity has invented over the centuries, when asked to shore up this statement with some sort of objective evidence it’s quickly obvious that they can’t. You just have to ‘believe.’

Well I (and, polls would suggest, the majority of the UK population) believe that “TWAW” about as much as I accept the transubstantiation of bread and wine when blessed. Or that there are virgins awaiting the chosen in ‘heaven.’ Or that I could be reincarnated as a woodlouse. Etc etc etc.

I’ll have to take your word for it because all I have seen here is wall to wall hatred and trans eliminationism.
The only real argument I have seen in these boards on trans people is whether they should be

  1. Segregated
  2. Driven from society
  3. Forcibly detransitioned
  4. Eradicated

I mean I knew when I came here that your were very right wing in matters of inclusion and diversity. But honestly, I am appalled!

Are you even mothers here? This sounds more like 4Chan. Have any of you even had a negative experience with a trans woman in the loo? A real one I mean, not a made up one. Because I never have and I’m in my 50s and I’ve seen them occasionally, throughout my life. If anything, the ones I’ve noticed just get in, do their business and get out. They have never even spoken in there unless spoken to, so I REALLY don’t get the rage.
Nobody even cared about this until 2023.
What have they done to make to hate them so viscerally?
i remember in 2010 the government telling gay and trans folks “come out. Live your true authentic lives. You are safe with us”. Fiend out THAT was a lie wasn’t it?

Have you even read our posts?

I frequently read this forum and we've actually advocated for continuing support for dressing and presenting themselves how they like, but to be open about their sex in circumstances where it is called for (so, they don't take away women's rights or opportunities, and consent is informed). We consider woman to be a sex-based term, and as 'Gender Critical' insinuates, seperate identity and gender. Therefore, TW shouldn't use women's spaces.

Nobody is trying to force TW to 'detransition'. Wear what you like. If taking hormones makes you happy, fine, but it shouldn't be on the NHS. It's on the exact same line as cosmetic plastic surgery (making you feel better about yourself isn't a priority when people are dying.) Our argument mainly consists of 'it is impossible to transition from MtF & vice versa', the term is just a phrase for ATTEMPTING to transition.

Where's the hatred? We just fundamentally disagree with trans ideology, that doesn't intrisically mean we hate them. You can be athiest making athiest arguments online and not hate religous people.

You deliberately use the term 'eradicated' and 'segregated from society' to suggest we are aggressively pursuing some hitler-style solution. You'd be pushed to actually find any evidence, or even a suggestion of that. Because it's never happened in this forum. So, yes, I suggest you actually read what we are saying. However I have a lot of evidence of TRAs suggesting gender critical women ought to be 'eradicated' and 'segregated from society'... and much, much worse.

Can you link to a thread here where it's been suggested that trans people should be forcibly detransitioned, eradicated or driven from society? Yes in some cases people should be segregated by sex rather than gender. Did you not realise that you never meeting a problematic transwomen doesn't mean biological men should just be allowed in all women's spaces?

I’m not linking to anything. I some resume to demands from complexity or demands for homework. They are never made in good faith. As in this case.

and you conflating trans women with the deeply insulting “biological men” suggests to me there is no point in trying to discuss with a zealot intent on dehumanising people.

I have a trans nephew, a trans-friend and a sister-in-law married a man who later became a trans woman. I also worked on a committee with trans women. I have a lot of empathy for anyone genuinely trans and wish they could live the life they want but it's not that simple.

Some men say they are women simply to gain access to single sex areas designed for biological females. A rapist in a female prison is a fairly recent example. In my view, this means biological males must never be given access.

Yes I have. They are vile.
WHY should transgender healthcare not be in the NHS? Trans people pay taxes just like everyone else. HRT is, for many of them an instantly successful treatment for gender incongruence. It actually SAVES the NHS money not having to deal with other related problems down the line.
No doubt you choose to believe trans people choose to be transgender so this is elective. It is not.
But if you think trans pale skulls find their own care rather than have it provided by the NHS that they pay into, should we ALSO deny treatment to alcoholics, smokers, drug takers, those injured fighting, people with non life threatening physical malformations too? Or weight loss drugs, gastric bands etc? Because THEY are all based on personal choices

GreyskySexRealistsky · Today 21:58

What's a trans pale skull?
