A complaint needs to be made to Crowdjustice

ArabellaScott · 03/06/2026 13:10

'Can I edit the text of my CrowdJustice page?

LowLightsHighLights · 03/06/2026 13:24

So I reckon £15,000 came from him. It appeared overnight the day before yesterday.

Then, last night, he changed his "cause".

So, roughly £13,000 was raised from supporters for him to take the Labour Party to court.

Surely this is now fraud?

ArabellaScott · 03/06/2026 13:26

Well, I've emailed CrowdJustice to ask what is going on and whether this is allowed on their site.

I use that site a lot, it's not on if people post misleading stuff and then pocket thousands of pounds.

LowLightsHighLights · 03/06/2026 13:26

Interestingly, the social media card is still showing the original cause. He hasn't changed that yet, or doesn't understand that it's telling on him.

This is still the image showing on a link that shows up on social media:

What the hell is going on here!

He has clearly totally edited his whole page.
How did he manage to do that? Did he pull the Trans card?

How did CrowdJustice allow this?

I don't know, but it stinks.

If they want people to trust them, they need to address this.

ArabellaScott · 03/06/2026 13:34

If I was Russell-Cooke solicitors, I'd also be asking questions.

Chersfrozenface · 03/06/2026 11:01

So the original said "I have sought legal advice and representation on challenging the lawfulness of the Labour Party’s ban."

It now says "If the [Equality and Human Rights Commission’s Draft Code of Practice (CoP)] is not rejected or substantially revised, I am willing and intend to pursue a judicial review. You can help me do that.

I am now seeking support to fund this legal challenge..."

There is currently a note at the end "Note: This case page was originally titled 'Justice for Steph: The Fight for Political Inclusion' and was updated 3rd June 2026." How long has that been there! Is it since the comment by ActualWoman was posted?

"Note: This case page was originally titled 'Justice for Steph: The Fight for Political Inclusion' and was updated 3rd June 2026."

That is another lie. It was actually called "Justice for Steph: Challenging The Labour Party's Ban on Trans Women"

🤔

murasaki · 03/06/2026 13:38

We really shouldn't be surprised that a man who lies about who he is lies about everything else.

But this is out and out fraud.

LowLightsHighLights · 03/06/2026 13:46

He was definitely raising funds to sue the Labour party...

Bloody hell, this is quite a twist Confused

ActualWoman is onto him, though (image loading)

teawamutu · 03/06/2026 13:57

I actually enquired of CJ whether this was quite cricket.

Got a somewhat arsey response stating that every donor had been informed. Which is interesting, given ActualWoman's message.

SabrinaThwaite · 03/06/2026 15:20

I like his complaint on X that This Code leans heavily on last year's Supreme Court ruling, which determined that "sex" within the framework of the Equality Act 2010 refers strictly to biological sex..

Well duh, that’s the whole point of a CoP - to provide guidance on how the law can be complied with.

LowLightsHighLights · 03/06/2026 15:21

So let's try and work out the timeline here:

  • In April Steph announces he is suing the Labour Party, because laydee feelz were hurted. He begins a crowdfunder with CrowdJustice, a "crowfunding platform for legal issues"
  • Steph sets a target of (IIRC) £17,000
  • Steph gets an initial surge of donations, which gets to just shy of £10,000
  • Donations slow right down
  • The 30 day limit approaches and Steph has nowhere near £17,000
  • Some time in May (I forget when, it can be checked), Steph announces his lawyers have appealed to CrowdJustice to extend the fundraiser because Labour lawyers are being meanies
  • This is allowed, and the target (which, remember, is nowhere near met) is stretched to £25,000
  • In late May the date is extended by another 30 days (noted on this thread)
  • At this point, it's still a "I'm pointlessly suing the Labour Party for following the actual law" fundraiser
  • At the beginning of June, £15,000 is mysteriously donated overnight
  • Two days later, the reason for the crowdfunder is changed to "Wah wah the EHRC Code of Practice"
  • An email was supposedly sent out to donators, explaining the change
  • Steph did not amend the page's title and text until called out by a donator called ActualWoman on fundraiser's comments
  • Magically, the page was completely amended the next day
  • The page is now lying about what the previous, original fundraiser was called
Chersfrozenface · 03/06/2026 15:27

The stretch target is now £75,000 with 27 days to go.

Not sure when that was put on the page.

TinselAngel · 03/06/2026 15:32

In the unlikely event that the hefty donation wasn’t Steph’s own money, it rather feels he’s been bribed to change the focus of the campaign.

Iamnotalemming · 03/06/2026 15:37

Slippery old Steph.

HenriettaSwanLeavitt · 03/06/2026 15:47

Funds went down by £20 between 2nd and 3rd June. Maybe someone took money out when informed about the change of plan.

Chersfrozenface · 03/06/2026 15:52

It will be fascinating to see the interplay between Steph's attempt and the application by the three claimants assisted by the Good Laugh Project for permission to appeal the High Court’s decision.

LowLightsHighLights · 03/06/2026 15:57

Here is his (typically wordy and self-obsessed) post from May 2nd, on the legal process.

What happened for £15,000 to be donated this week, and then his crowdfunder completely changed? 🤔

Update: My legal action against The Labour Party.

Firstly, my apologies for not updating my supporters sooner - unfortunately, my lawyers have advised me not to say too much publicly. This is what I can say: A few people have noticed that Crowdjustice extended my funder's deadline to the end of May. This was at the request of my solicitor with Crowdjustice, confirming that campaigns can be extended by up to 90 days.

Why did my solicitor request an extension?

1: Despite three PAP letters, the Labour Party has failed to provide all the requested information. Indeed, they have provided virtually no information in response to our questions. This inhibits the progress of my case and adds to the costs. 2: Recently, a second person has contacted my solicitor to ask whether they can be a co-claimant. Their circumstances are different from mine; they are not transgender, and their claim has to be evaluated by counsel. 3: The EHRC Code of Practice, which will be laid in Parliament in the coming weeks, could have an effect on my case. 4: On the 16th of February, I made a Subject Access Request to the Labour Party. They responded on the 16th of March. I was expecting perhaps 20 to 25 pages. How wrong can I be?

There were 252 pages, many of which were heavily redacted!

I requested a review and asked for a response within 7 days. The Labour Party refused, saying they need six weeks! 5: In my opinion, the Labour Party are being as obstructive as possible, borne out by the fact that they have never once responded positively even to Alternative Dispute Resolution requests. People will rightly query why I stay a member of the Labour Party and will be supporting my CLP's councillors on Thursday. The reality is this. Every single member of my CLP has supported me; in short, they are my family, and if I divorce the Labour Party, my family goes with that divorce. Local councillors cant change the Labour Party’s policies regarding immigration, national laws or the NHS; they deal with street cleaning, parks, and local services, and in Portsmouth, I know for a fact every single Labour Councillor works exceptionally hard.

Do I agree with the Labour Party’s policies regarding the trans community? Absolutely not!More to follow on Monday!

Finally, a huge “thank you” to the 254 people who have supported my crowdfunder. £10k has been pledged, and a further £15k is required to hit the target. Have a great weekend!

LowLightsHighLights · 03/06/2026 20:17

So, today he has posted this. Including the phrase "As a consequence, with the permission of Crowd Justice and my legal team,".

There have clearly been rumblings, and not just here.

I predict he will raise about £5,000 more for this narcissistic endeavour from everyday punters. He hasn't got a hope of raising any more. Until another five figure sum comes in mysteriously? 🤔

Steph Richards: (She/her) - Say NO to hate. (@PompeySteph) on X

I AM NOT GOING QUIETLY: FIGHTING FOR A JUDICIAL REVIEW. The EHRC Draft Code of Practice was published on the 21st of May, and trans people, friends, family and human rights allies are horrified at the potential human rights issues. Consequently, I am...

Well, here's the response from CrowdJustice:

'On the rare occasion an amendment is needed for a live case page, amendments can only be made by the team at CrowdJustice, and in adherence with our strict compliance requirements and is subject to prior communication of any changes with all existing backers.

We have all archive information on record for compliance purposes, so there is no need to send any documentation over.

I can't see a donation for you towards this case, please provide details of your donation if you'd like to discuss it further.'
