The other aspect of Richards’ anger seems to stem from the fact that he has invested so much into these extreme body modifications and still people reject his claim to be female.

The very fact that some men think that if they pay enough (not just financially) they should be able to demand to be treated as if they were female people but are materially not. That really is male entitlement. To them being female is a transaction and the rest of the world has to respect their ownership.

That is why they need all the philosophical theory, linguistic manipulation and emotional manipulation. Material reality simply cannot be changed when it comes to human sex classification and gender identity does not replace sex class or material reality in any way.

Jealousy.

It all comes down to jealousy.

It's fascinating.

Fascinating in a completely toe-curling way.

The number of narcissistic men who put on a dress and wig, perhaps initially for a boner, but subsequently in sheer delight on finding they are suddenly able to bully women without censure, is utterly depressing.

How many more of these men being lauded must we tolerate? Why can’t others see what seems so obvious to me?

testmatchspecial · 02/05/2026 10:16

Having read some of the thread about the Reddit thread, it seems they really do believe they’ve changed sex. And any TW who accepts they’re a biological male has internalised transphobia. It’s insane.

This is so true!

Which is why their own specific criteria is always the one that confers ownership.

If they've had surgery, if they've got a certificate, if they pass, if they transitioned a long time ago, blah blah blah.

Whatever investment is they think they've made, that should be it, job done.

Presumably they also believe that, as they’ve paid more than women have to achieve that status (oh the irony) they are so much more deserving of women’s rights than women are.

Helleofabore · 02/05/2026 10:23

Even just the personal investment is enough for them.

How many times have we seen the point made, who would go through all that degradation and fear of hiding who they really are if they weren’t really what they identified as?

Or the point that is effectively, I have spent so much of my life being deceptive about my sex category that I have somehow earned not to be honest about it to all those who need to know now. Hence that man will continue to act as if he is somehow female because of the extreme body modifications and the fact he has deceived so many people so they think he is female.

moto748e · 02/05/2026 10:32

It's puzzling too that this hyper-capitalist behaviour is generally praised by most of the Great Socialists Of Our Time.

Datun · 02/05/2026 11:13

Thanks Helle for that bit of insight.

It's really clicked something for me. Which I thought, at this late stage wasn't possible!

And yes the 'but we're vulnerable, suicidal, oppressed, we had to earn our womanhood, stop gatekeeping'.

It's all part of the same investment.

And all of it can just be dealt with the same answer, that womanhood is not a transaction.

Also, it has to be sad, what the fuck do we get out of it.

Absolutely nothing.

Whatever they think they've paid, it wasn't paid to us.

Helleofabore · 02/05/2026 12:31

It always pays to look who benefits.

Remember though, that this group of male people have sold an argument to some women that the 'benefit' is that with them, the men, broadening the scope of female definition, that female people will be 'safer' and less judged. I mean, look at the bonkers argument that women will be less scrutinised in sport because male people like Khelif and Semenya will stop people judging women from being masculine.

I don't think it even twigs in any way that they are using male people as the reason that women won't be judged for looking male as if those male people have broadened the range of body cues found in female people. They seem to think that this is not offensive. They seem to genuinely believe that this is righteous and kind and intellectual.

It is like the well if everyone was just kind and accepted men as being female, then gender non-conforming female people will be safe from being asked if they are in the right fucking toilet.

Of course, the hyperbolic way they present it is that somehow there is whole groups of gender non-conforming female people being violently evicted from female toilets. When that is not happening.

Not only that, it is like somehow the decades of gender non-conforming female people being asked if they were in the correct toilet for them never even fucking happened. Somehow, these men think that before them, no female person was asked. It is so fucking ignorant, yet how often do we see these arguments. It is constant.

All that has happened is some men decided to push all the fear buttons that some women have and present themselves as if their acceptance as being female is the answer.

MarjorieWestriding · 02/05/2026 12:39

I remember Helen Joyce a few years ago saying something like 'Entry into women's spaces isn't a prize for effort, they're still men'. Damned right too.

Steph getting a bit desperate now.

Apparently having breasts makes him female, and he fails to clarify that the gametes he can no longer produce are the small mobile ones.

So does it follow from this that a woman could be turned away having had a double mastectomy following cancer? Would she be lacking her two tickets to the conference? So utterly offensive. Let women have our own stuff. We know who we are.

Why is it always the same filters, photoshop and girlish head tilt?

But the pearls ready for clutching and the certificate to say he's a 'real woman' are priceless.

I do hope Steph and his followers raise the funds for a challenge, and that the UK's popcorn supplies will meet demand.

It's never done.

Precisely because you can't change sex.

They know this deep down. They refuse to accept it though.

I agree.

I believe that an important function of transgenderism is that it destroys the category 'woman' - if any human being regardless of their sex can be a woman, biological woman have no claim to being a distinct social group, a group which has specific legal status and considerations.

In other words, I see it as part of the backlash against whatever gains the women's movement managed to make since the 1970s/80s - if you can't beat them, identify as them, thereby making a nonsense of the identity 'woman'.

This would also go some of the way to explaining why such a patently daft ideology, based on easily disproved facts, has gained such traction and had such disproportionate influence on so many areas of society:

it is misogynistic, and therefore thrived in all the areas where men have had to pay lip-service to women's rights, from universities to trades unions to rape crisis centres, and now find themselves with an excuse to be anti-women and On The Right Side of History at the same time.
Re-sult!🙄

Not that I keep looking, but poor Steph is still at less than half of target on the crowdfunder.

His crowdfunder has been extended. He says it's because of Labour delays in responding to his lawyers, but I'm guessing it's because he hadn't raised enough money.

He's been stuck on £10,123 for days now. No way will he reach £17,000 in the next three weeks.

I’m sure Labour have more important things to worry about right now 😂
