It's strange, isn't it? They really can't keep her name out of their mouths. Very baffling.

Transwomen are not women, so by calling them that you are being silly. They are male. So men, whatever clothes they wear.

I’m talking about myself. Posters are putting me down. I’m not getting into the semantics of it with you, I’ve already given that advice to jkr and I’m following it to the letter

CassOle · 30/03/2026 23:44

butterfly231 · 30/03/2026 23:36

Idk if it’s just capitalism in general. You make so much money from constantly offering surgery, hormones, medication, specialist clothing and shoes etc. like I said, Machiavelli. If you can appear virtuous while doing bad things, you can justify anything. We need people like jkr to question but imho attacking any marginalised group is just going to attract controversy and lose moderate supporters.

Remember PIE , the National Council for Civil Liberties and Harriet Harman. There is a very serious lesson there.

I’m not really sure what this has got to do with jk’s strategic choices and why this back and forth with tras is still going on but please enlighten me if you can explain?

butterfly231 · 30/03/2026 22:19

Right but my argument isn’t about this: it’s about what jkr achieves by attacking people like Lily when most people know someone like this and love them deeply.
talk about that. Talk about why there needs to be more studies in mental health and trans youths. Look at studies about retransiitioning. share about sexism and pathologised trauma responses and peer influence and how it impacts everyone. But don’t go and bait tras who aren’t actually helping anyone and benefit off your platform.
Because then you see how this takes attention off Jkr’s cause (protecting women and girls) and instead gives more airtime to an issue which isn’t serving that?

I think you need to show us where Ms Rowling attacks or misgenders anyone like Lily. My memory is very clear that she specifically identified 10 individuals and took them to task. People who were aggresive TRAs or taking opportunities from actual women. They all deserved it. I am not aware of any other occasion where she has routinely misgendered trans people. I think you owe it to us to bring it to our attention unless you regard the 10 individuals she did deliberately misgender as undeserving (and tell us why).

I never said she did. I said when people now think of terfs they think of their trans friends and feel uncomfortable and disengage from the debate, which is annoying because jkr has such a huge outreach but lots don’t want to get involved because of how controversial this now is.

I find you more entertaining. People on Reddit tend to be a bit more open minded and polite

'... attacking any marginalised group is just going to attract controversy and lose moderate supporters.'

Not all marginalised groups are equal. I think that your phrasing of 'any marginalised group' is too broad and not specific enough.

BlueSky is the winner for being 'open-minded and polite', surely?

I’m making generalisations that prove my point. No they’re not all equal. But it happens when people talk about immigrants too. Racism pops up and people can’t have intelligent debates. Moderate people switch off from fear of offending. JK has better ways to get her point across imo

Mostly, JKR "attacks" the likes of dear India, armed solely with her wit.

I do think she is sometimes a little cruel, given that she is so much sharper-witted than India. She possibly enjoys battles of wit a little too much. But India, and others like him, do keep asking for her attention despite previous experience. Given that I don't know anyone who is perfect, I'm not convinced that JKR deserves criticism any more than the next man.

Everyone deserves constructive criticism. I’m speaking like a pr manger or a politicians aid. I want her message going far and wide without being drowned out by a silly distraction that isn’t benefiting her. I’ve been slaughtered for that. I guess me and jk have quite a lot in common - both of us don’t care about pissing people off when we’re passionate about something 😂😂😂

Your generalisations are weakening your points.

Harriet Harmon didn't want to rock the boat. Sometimes, moderate people need to be brave and say 'this is wrong' even if it does rock the boat.

"The Gay Liberation Front was very radical. At that time Harman and Patricia Hewitt couldn't just kick out PIE. Well, they could, I suppose, try, but they didn't even try. And the reason they didn't try is that they didn't want to rock the boat because their careers within NCCL depended on them not rocking the boat too much."

Indeed.

Strange that a woman who

  • posts obsessively about them
  • funds anti-trans campaigns
  • objects when they have jobs
  • mocks their appearance
  • inspires the bullying & sexual violence trans children suffer in schools
  • left a generation of her own young trans fans feeling utterly betrayed
  • ridicules asexual & non-binary people
  • and gives respectability to a culture of violent trans hate while embracing misogynistic men like Trump & Graham Linehan just because they too hate trans people

should even cross their minds.

I agree with the capitalism argument to a point but I also think some people has a high tolerance for drama and confrontation and that’s how they distinguish themselves and get power.

They create a victimised political environment were regulators are backed into a corner gives these organisations the power to be the definors and then the police of these issues. I saw it with the women’s stuff after #metoo

We are now at a place (again) where men are the ones defining women and controlling the access to women’s spaces.

Not really. It’s how people work. I have no problem with her rocking the boat. I have a problem with who she’s pissing off when she does it because it’s focusing on people who are not actually the problem.
the problem is men who rape women. Why go after a group that faces discrimination when you’ve got people like trump or Putin who could really benefit from her baiting?

Some of those men raping women say they are transwomen and were being housed in womens prisons.

Idk. Isnt it like 90% of the world’s wealth is owned by 1%? Everything benefits them. Women didn’t gain much from me too. The only person in jail for Epstein is a woman.
us fighting each other instead of them benefits them.

a very small minority. It’s like using terrorists to make Islamaphobic comments. That’s why people find this so controversial and difficult

How many male rapists in womens prison are you willing to tolerate to avoid saying anything that might upset transwomen

I think my love of jkr would upset most trans women for reasons another poster has listed above
