It's strange, isn't it? They really can't keep her name out of their mouths. Very baffling.

Entitled misogynist men who believe women's purpose in this world is to support their needs and whims are sadly not a minority group.

That some of these men have started calling themselves "women" doesn't make them actually a different group to the rest.

They fall under the umbrella of lgbtqia, which is a minority group.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 30/03/2026 21:43

butterfly231 · 30/03/2026 16:40

Called herself a terf. Why even engage with that language? Why even give them an excuse?

Look, men will always find reasons to dismiss women because "they said it wrong".

Women can dance around their entire lives trying to find the rights words to be heard.

Eventually you realise it's all just an excuse. There's no way a woman can say something a man doesn't want to hear in a way that makes it acceptable to him.

At which point you stop dancing around and just talk straight and make him deal with it.

It appears that no woman will ever be rich or powerful enough to avoid being tone-policed by random internet posters claiming that they can't admire her because her words are not sufficiently kind.

Ain't that the truth!

I just think strategically it wasn’t the best option. I think it’s deflecting from her real point - violence against women and girls is still widespread. Anyone who speaks out is labelled a ‘witch’ or ‘crazy’ and they’re silenced. Why is she not fighting this? Why aggressive TRAs who wouldn’t even get noticed without the piggyback of her success?

You are perfectly capable of googling if you’re seriously suggesting that in 2026 you have no idea what that acronym means

Have you heard of Machiavelli? You can be a dick if you can get people behind you morally. Jkr is controversial because she’s not picking on someone like Donald trump or Putin, she’s picking on members of a marginalised group (some deservedly so). I just don’t think she’s winning the hearts of the moderates who make the difference.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 30/03/2026 21:56

WaffleParty · 30/03/2026 18:18

It is offensive. Transwomen are not biologically the same as CIS women, but they deserve respect and it damages nobody to refer to them as she/her. They do not deserve to be ridiculed by being called a man in a dress.

There are cases of men calling themselves trans and committing crimes against women. These men should be subject to the full force of the law and should, of course, go to a men’s prison. Using the existence of these men to cast shade on transgender women is very much not ok.

I believe that the language used by JKR and her deliberate misgendering “allow” other women to express anti- trans views and create a climate in which it is even more difficult to be trans.

So bored of this stupidity.

It absolutely does damage women and girls (in the original female sense) when we accept the sexist idea that the difference between men and women, the fundamental difference that makes us women or men, is mental not physical.

Firstly because it takes us right back to the same stupid sexism that decided women's minds were suited to the home and obedience and kindness while men's were suited to leadership and ambition and power.

And secondly because it disconnects us as female people from the language and history we need to make sense of what has been and still is done to us because of our female bodies.

It is an abhorrent and unbelievably arrogant selfish thing to do to take the name of half of humanity and use it to label your own sense of self based on nothing more than your own biases and projections about the opposite sex.

It isn't even a group, at least not a natural one. The only thing all those letters have in common (apart from being in the alphabet) is that they each stand for a minority.

Say hello to Dave. Dave is 50. Dave is a heterosexual man who has been cross-dressing for masturbatory purposes since he was 13.

Dave has decided that he wants to live out his fetish full time. He's started coming into work in a leather mini and fishnets, and wants to use the women's toilets.

Nobody has ever explained to me why Dave should be under the same "umbrella" as lesbians and gay men who really just want to be treated the same as their straight counterparts.

Hedgehogforshort · 30/03/2026 22:02

events and communities would disagree with you. Are you a member of this community? How can you say it’s not a group? They have interests, gay pride, communities, their own flags. They tend to stick together. Not all. But it’s commonly and widely accepted to everyone. I’m not arguing semantics with you. Trans people face discrimination. Anyone else who’s faced it feels uneasy targeting them instead of engaging with Jk. So her point gets lost. I don’t think it’s strategic

I’ve never met Dave.
but I know a Lily. Lily just wants to have long hair, go about her business quietly, piss in peace and make friends with similar interests. Lily looks for the rainbow flag as a sign of acceptance when she uses toilets.

No, it's a collection of letters.

If you want to make a case those letters represent genuine human minorities you'll have to base it on first principles.

Explain to me how trans women differ from any other men?

(Incidentally, I prefer "marginalised" to minority. It is more accurate and meaningful. Women (original sex based meaning) for example are not a minority but I do not think anyone could look at historic and indeed current concentration of economic, political and cultural power in male hands vs female and not conclude women are marginalised relative to men).

Why does Lily need to piss in the ladies simply because she has long hair?

sexuality is self identified and so it is accepted in these communities that you do the same with your pronouns and gender.
come on this isn’t hard? Rainbow flags usually mean trans friendly.

You still haven't explained to me why a man who says he feels sad about being a man thereby acquires the right to wank in the women's loo.

Because I don’t need to because I don’t think this. That’s some very strange projection right there. Are you ok?

Lily wants to have long hair. That's fine, Lily was able to have long hair long before claiming to be a woman. Lily's Dad had long hair when it was the fashion for men, before most people had heard of Queer Theory or Gender Identity. Lily can continue to use the toilets he used when he first grew his hair long. Most other men will ignore the dress and oversized glasses, they just want to "piss in peace".

Lily will never be a woman, as changing sex is impossible. Lily knows no more about womanhood than any other sensitive man.

Lily is almost certainly autistic and has never fitted in; Lily has found a group of people who will say "how wonderful" as long as Lily fits in with behaviour and presentation deemed acceptable for transwomen. If Lily desists from trans identification, Lily will no longer be seen as wonderful.

Well, there's one of us who believes that men can enter women's spaces, for whatever purpose, just because they say they don't want to be men, and it's not me.

Well she has misgendered trans women and liked comments by others who have done the same or referred to trans women as men in dresses.
She talked about “throwing open the bathroom doors” to any man who said he was a woman. She is creating a false climate of fear. Trans women have been using those bathrooms for years and have gone unnoticed. You said ONE thing. I hope this will suffice.

Oooh, she misgendered trans women?! Lock her up and throw away the key!!

these trans women wouldn’t happen to be criminals who have raped or attached women, would they? Or ones who insist on using women’s spaces?

What she says isn’t a patch on what TRAs say to her: doxxing her, rape threats, murder threats, threatening to piss on her and choke her with their lady dick. I hope you’re just as disapproving of them
