No, they may have other dsds, but this one only happens to males.

They can have 5ard which is a recessive gene condition that affects conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which results in less body hair in females, and underdeveloped external genitalia in males.

Chersfrozenface · 28/03/2026 17:07

This is Semenya when at high school, on the left, pictured with a male fellow pupil wearing the boys' uniform, and a female fellow pupil wearing the girls' uniform.

Which uniform is Semenya wearing? (And this was not a school where girls could choose to wear trousers.)

Poor Semenya
loislovesstewie · 28/03/2026 17:10

Everyone is either male or female. Some DSDs are only found in males. This is one of them, a micro penis that looks like an enlarged clitoris and a scrotum that could be mistaken for labia.
At puberty it's often obvious that the person is male due to the muscles developing in a male way.
I'm amazed that people are tying themselves up in knots to pretend that Caster is female. Where is your sympathy for the females who lost out due to him taking part in sports?

Boiledbeetle · 28/03/2026 17:11

I cannot believe that in 2026 people still seem to believe there's some magical third sex neither male or female but something that's a bit of both, or neither.

And people thought the Internet would make people more intelligent!

Chersfrozenface · 28/03/2026 17:12

And this is the remark about testicles, from a fawning feature on the BBC.

"I don't care about the medical terms or what they tell me. Being born without a uterus or with internal testicles. Those don't make me less of a woman"...

Yes, I agree. We have moved on from the 1990s.

He had ambiguous genitalia at birth and was miscategorised as female. At puberty he would have known he was male. You cannot be neither male or female: you are one or the other. The DSD he has affects only males so thats what sex he is

Again - dsds are not exclusively male or female and are complicated not just about what one sees - we don’t know the whole story

I think she is the best person to say how she was raised and how she feels

why do you need to force someone’s personal identity into your idea - she won’t be competing against females anymore - can’t you imagine how distressing it would have been to grow up like this

That’s rather a sweeping generalisation based on the colour of a person’s skin.

If anyone made that kind of generalisation about any group other than white people, there would be very loud accusations of racism.

Do you agree that as a male, he is correctly labelled as the father of the children he is raising with his wife?

GlovedhandsCecilia · 28/03/2026 17:18

AStonedRose · 28/03/2026 16:50

To stoke hatred, presumably.

Yes it isnt about being fair to women in sport.

theilltemperedamateur · 28/03/2026 17:19

There's no point arguing about what sex CS is. Under English law, people with this group of DSDs (karyotypically and gonadally male, but with a defective testosterone response leading to ambiguous or apparently female genitalia at birth) can end up legally biologically male or female (in a properly birth sex sort of way, not a GRC sort of way) depending on treatment choices. They still need to be excluded from female competition because early life testosterone exposure has persistent physiological effects

What's that got.to do with the lies that Semanya biologically created these children with sperm?

Yes.

CS is intersex so insisting on ‘he’ is not the gotcha you think it is.

we need proper, intelligent strong arguments. Not emotive jabs.

the argument stands up for itself without cheap shots that have no logical basis

’Intersex’ is a misnomer. You can have a DSD (difference of sexual development) but you are still either male or female, according to your chromosomes. Semenya is XY, therefore male. He was wrongly observed female at birth, due to internal testes (5-ARD).

Moreover, DSD is not trans.

There are females with DSDs and there are males with DSDs. As it is an abnormality of development, a DSD is related to the persons sex.
From the available childhood photos, it does not appear that Semenya was raised as if he was a girl. He is quite clearly wearing a boys school uniform in one for example.

You cannot possibly know that!

You have no idea of the colour of the posters who claim he's a father. Not in here, or round the entire world on other platforms.

So you just come across as a bit daft.

White people are in the powere holding group throughout the world so - and don’t far racism on account of the pigmentation of their skin

“In Africa, breasts aren’t covered”????

ate you seriously suggesting that an entire continent of women are routinely undressed from the waist up? You realise that Africa is made up of 54 sovereign states, only a few of which have rural tribes who go bare breasted. What an appallingly ignorant statement!

Oh I can have a fairly good idea for sure.

Blueskiesnotgrey · 28/03/2026 17:23

it is perfectly possible that he is the biological father of his children using a form of IVF. Males with 5ARD have testicular tissue. Nobody here knows whether that is the case or not (because lets face it, it wouldn't help his cause to admit that), but it is possible.

Why not? Would anyone have even heard of Caster if he wasn’t dominating in women’s sports without being female?

I don't give a stuff how CS likes to think of themselves or how he was raised. At a certain point he knew the truth and knew he was a man running in women's races, claiming medals and prizes that should rightfully have gone to actual women.

He continued racing long after he knew the truth. The man is a cheat.

No, please stop this nonsense.

5-ARD is a condition which affects males. Not females. Here is one of the many many many websites which clearly state this if you can be bothered to do a simple google search ffs:

https://medlineplus.gov/genetics/condition/5-alpha-reductase-deficiency/

Semenya, no matter which sex he was mistakenly identified as at birth, is a biological male. He’s a man. This is literally the science.

5-alpha reductase deficiency: MedlinePlus Genetics

5-alpha reductase deficiency is a condition that affects male sexual development before birth and during puberty. Explore symptoms, inheritance, genetics of this condition.
