The IOC is making an announcement today. Here is the Youtube link for the live stream.

15.15 UK time. Let's hope it is the speculated announcement that they have decided to exclude any male person who has undergone androgenisation at puberty.

I don't believe that Trump cares about women's rights, he just sees opposing transgenderism as a vote winner.

climbintheback · 26/03/2026 17:32

Just been on the National news - Halle bloody lujah!

This is being reported on on the PM programme on Radio 4. They don't approve and the overall message is that it's all too complicated with the solution being all too simplistic for there to be a ban.

The athlete they interviewed very clearly did approve though!

I just saw a clip on Sky News where the reporter must have said biological sex and biological women about 20 times 🤭 Heads will be exploding all over the country at such transphobic language, what with biological sex being such a nebulous category, apparently.

They tried to police our language didn’t they. If we weren’t allowed to talk about “biological women” we couldn’t address the problem.

Im so pleased this decision has been made but so angry for the women who’ve lost out. And for the women who have been shouting from the rooftops about the unfairness of males in women’s sports and have been cancelled and called horrific names.

We are due an apology!!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/03/2026 17:35

Long overdue. Thank you to all the women (and some men) who've argued and protested about the takeover of women's sport by certain men.

Such good news.

Tracy Holmes really shits me. She’s so fucking annoying. I had to find out what dumb question she asked. For anyone interested Tracy starts her question at 37:00 in the video from the first post. Here’s the link again:

I am very disappointed by Tracy Holmes. She was up to date in reporting the Iranian football team happenings, but I have to say this was disappointing. She could have led the way, but alas, she fell into line with the ABC and people like Peter Fitzsimmons.

But at least she asked one of the TRA talking point questions and Jane Thornton had a ready answer. Did you see the female The Australian reporter? She went there and asked about how the IOC can face the women who have lost their opportunities. I understand Coventry having to answer as she did, but fuck that!

It's fantastic news.

Now we need recreational sport and sport at all levels below the elite Olympians to follow suit.

SinnerBoy · 26/03/2026 17:42

There are a couple of Japanese soldiers on islands there, refusing to accept the Emperor's order to surrender...

SabrinaThwaite · 26/03/2026 17:46

nauticant · 26/03/2026 17:27

Actually no, it's Katie Razzall. Evan Davis must be relieved he can rest from the trauma by lying down in a darkened room.

Thank you - but how disappointing. Maybe Katie should stick to her usual media reporting beat.

A great day for fair sport, looks like a really comprehensive ruling. Retrospective recognition for the athletes who’ve been robbed of medals would be a good follow-up

Yep!
Like the women who came 4th, 5th and 6th in the 800m in the Rio Olympics. All the medalists were men with DSD.

i have sympathy for the men, they were used by their country’s athletics associations but for the others in that race it was devastating.

She did but I felt she didn't have quite as good a grip as I've have liked and wasn't able to bat away some of the empty gotchas flung at her.

viques · 26/03/2026 17:55

Just read the IOC statement claiming that no TIM took part in the Paris games.

Conveniently forgetting two boxers and the Paris Paralympics and the fragrant Valentina Petrillo.

The boxers aren't TiM, they are men with DSDs.

nauticant · 26/03/2026 17:57

There isn't much of a difference between men identifying as women and TiMs.

Usually if she’s on the tv I change the channel or mute it. Bloody shits me. She’s always so fucking earnest and oh so politically correct and on the side of whatever the current fad is. Fitzsimmons is a wanker. Him and his stupid try-hard pirate bandanna.

Yes, I saw the reporter from The Australian. She was about two questions after Holmes for anyone looking for it. Damn good question. It should be retroactive and the DSD men’s names and medals removed and re-awarded to the rightful winning women. I think it’s a massive shame that the IOC isn’t doing that.

And with that crankiness I really should be asleep. It’s 4am and the temperature is the equivalent of 27C. Autumn needs to hurry the fuck up and make an appearance in my area.

The two boxers will be DSD athletes (although obviously they will both know that they’re not female), and the Paralympics is run by a different organisation with TWAW rules.

Indeed . but since they present as women I think they qualify as TIM.

True. But the Paralympics are rightly seen as falling under the umbrella of the Paris games so to say that Petrillo was a TIM was competing as an athlete in the Paris games is accurate.

murasaki · 26/03/2026 18:05

The Paras let the Russians compete under their own flag at the winter games, unlike the Olympics, so they do seem to march to the beat of their own drum.

So unless Lin Yu Ting has CAIS, this might make the shenanigans of the other day become irrelevant. At least as far as the Olympics is concerned.

Lin Yu Ting is thought to have CAIS, eh? Interesting. When LYT was about to go to the Olympics, an Instagram post (still there) showed all the items about to be packed in his luggage, including 'daily tampons'.

Genevieve Gluck also picked up on this:

Lin was also made an official representative for a company that sells sanitary pads for women. Every Day Mask produced a video featuring Lin in August 2024.
The feminine hygiene company captioned the advertisement with references to Lin being a “girl,” saying: “When magic tries to distort the facts, direct all doubtful eyes on her. We’ll tell the world, Lin Yuting is our spokesperson. A spokesperson for a sanitary tampon brand, as a girl. She will not only endorse our products but more – she will endorse our belief in girls. Because we believe every girl has the right to live in the most comfortable way as she likes. No need to explain to anyone, let alone prove to anyone. In our eyes, that is the most girlish you.”

Funny that someone with CAIS would need sanpro…..

MarieDeGournay · 26/03/2026 18:09

Not only is the decision very welcome, but it's a great opportunity to put the scientific facts and figures in the public domain, coming not from 'the usual suspects' i.e. us GCers, but an international sporting organisation. Harder to dismiss.

She might not need to use it. It could be just marketing.

HPFA · 26/03/2026 18:11

The most stupid argument coming out now is that it will mean "athletes finding out they have DSDs"

As if ignorance about a condition affecting your body is a good thing!

nauticant · 26/03/2026 18:12

The CAIS thing will have to be watched like a hawk. I wouldn't be surprised to see a two-stage process with stage 1 being SRY determination and, should it then be necessary, stage 2 being self-declaration of CAIS.

yes. I suspect it is marketing, sadly.

Like Mulvaney and Sanpro.
