The mention of empty vessels make me think of the Friends episode with Julio and the Diner.

Perhaps we need to organise a similar barbershop riposte.

WearyAuldWumman · 10/03/2026 20:18

What I have seen online and in real life is that certain groups have latched onto the SNP because they think that they can manipulate that party. The tail has very much been wagging the dog.

At one point, the SNP government agreed to certain policies in order to retain the support of the Greens. The problem seems to be that once it sets a course, it finds it impossible to turn around.

Very similar happened with the Curriculum for Excellence. It was originally put in place by Scottish Labour, but when teaching professionals told the SNP that it needed to be scrapped the SNP government simply doubled down.

Lockdown made the problems with newer iteration of Higher and the National qualifications even more obvious and a new exam body is being set up, but the shake-up of education is taking place from the wrong end.

NB I find it interesting that so many news outlets are referring to CfE as "the SNP CfE". As I said, the SNP refused to scrap the damned thing but Scottish Labour's part in this has been conveniently ignored.

In my lifetime, I've voted LibDem once, and the rest of the time Labour or SNP. I say this to point out that my views on the curriculum are not driven by my political views. The 5-14 Guidelines weren't perfect, but they were a damn sight better than the current mess.

The point is that the SNP government has been told time after time that CfE and the related exams are not fit for purpose - but they simply refuse to admit that they're wrong and this seems to be their modus operandi for everything.

I'd hoped that this might change when Sturgeon gave up her position.

I actually agree with you on this, plus the assumption of mainstream. I have no idea why you have been horrible to and about me on this thread considering we have agreed about many things on other threads.

However, that’s something you have to consider.

I posted a crowd funder thing for you earlier for the alliance that Eva is standing under but it was deleted.

She’s a founder of Liberate Scotland, so if you google it, you’ll find it.

She’s standing on both votes.

Best of luck.

Apparently Humza also writing a book…..his deeply personal trauma of getting the in laws who went to Gaza against FCO advice out of Gaza…and the cost of leadership..what pearls of wisdom we are in for.

grifters gotta grift…

This Humza? Didn't he used to be someone?

SirChenjins · 11/03/2026 09:23

Now that will be an interesting read from the useless one.

anyolddinosaur · 11/03/2026 11:25

Humza would need an amazing ghost writer to be interesting, dont think I'd bother reading it even when it's remaindered.

thirdfiddle · 11/03/2026 11:53

Nicely played Joanna. I have a feeling this will sell well, there's a lot of interest in SNP/Sturgeon's affairs.

Only slight reservation might it have been better a few weeks earlier for the new information to have time to fully percolate. Have to assume her publishers know what they're about.

Maybe he'll express himself through the medium of crayoned drawings?

Tallisker · 11/03/2026 12:21

I love the way Joanna Cherry says “Twitter”. I sat next to her in Westminster once and met her again at a party at Murrayfield. Although I’m not an SNP fan at all, I like her and will buy her book to go with TWWWW, Time to Think, Trans, Hags, Invisible Women etc etc.

this was the peak of his achievements tbh..

I love that Humza Useless scooter video!

I mean nobody is immune to Dunning Krüger but it's hilarious when an adult thinks "how hard can it be" then immediately falls off a scooter his 4yo daughter could ride, while showing off for the camera. He wasn't even pissed (I assume)

Roond ma way, it's "naebdy''.

Don't know how you're saying that but . . .

naeb-dy = 2 syllabubs
nae-bi-dy = 3 syllabubs
nae-b'dy = 3 syllabubs (b = a sybaritic constabubble)

I also care, and I will be voting tactically for whichever candidate can oust the SNO candidate. The SNP have decimated Scottish education, and their attitude towards biological reality is unfathomable and unforgivable. To the poster who says nobody knows who Jo Cherry is...prepare to be surprised.

Well that would have been good to know before I posted my now deleted post.

But are you ok?

I won’t be. Her x feed is illuminating.

anyolddinosaur · 11/03/2026 19:45

Arent children amusing sometimes. Sure X says it has a lot of users in the uk, it may even be right. But they dont live their lives there and they dont spend their lives trawling everyone's twitter feeds. Some are there for work. some for laughs, some to communicate with a relatively small of number of people with a shared interest. I guess a few more than usual may take a look at some recent tweets but more than half the uk adult population dont go near X and around half those who do dont visit it daily.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 11/03/2026 19:50

They live their lives on line, and ignore the real world as it 'too hard'.

Your second sentence- you’ve been obnoxious on this thread. Were you drinking? I’ve read the first few pages then skipped to the end to see if you were still here, and lo- you are. And moaning about being bullied, of all the cheek.

You arrived with an arsey attitude and would seem to have kept it up. But no, I won’t be voting, which as you rightly say means my opinions on Scottish politics don’t matter. At least I understand the concept of tactical voting though. Imagine no knowing that at 62!

Naebdy is almost naydee. The b is almost silent.

KittyWilkinson · 11/03/2026 21:24

Nicola's karaoke song.

"Naebdy Wants You When You're Down and Out"

Well, once I lived the life of a millionaire
Spending my money, no, I didn't care
Takin' my friend Pete out for a mighty good time
Buyin' high-priced liquor, champagne and wine

I pronounce it with a hard b. Basically NaeB-day
