It sounds like something that will be deleted soon, they don't like the voice of reason on Reddit, especially if it's supporting women (sort of).

I see that lone voice of Reasonable Trans Activist, who absolutely never visits this board at all ever, will graciously allow rape survivors women only space, if there's also a mixed sex space, because otherwise the optics aren't great for the trans movement.

Can you even imagine being that fucking callous?

'Let the rape victims have their little space to themselves, otherwise we look nasty by forcing our way in'

The worst thing about male abuse is it makes men look bad. Which rule of misogyny is that?

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 26/02/2026 19:50

There's a good reason it looks nasty.

Because it really bloody is.

Let women have an inch of the bloody universe for fucks sake.

ArabellaScott · 26/02/2026 19:51

For a time I had thought Protectthedollz was a feminist fourth columnist trying to persuade trans activists to not be so utterly awful.

But no feminist I know could be so dismissive of women's suffering, even in character.

That particular inch is just irrestistible, though. Precisely because its out of bounds and distresses women. This is rape culture.

ArabellaScott · 26/02/2026 19:54

If the penny hadnt dropped for the general public by now then surely grown men raging and hating on women for wanting a female only service for rape survivors would be crystal clear?

ArabellaScott · 26/02/2026 19:56

It doesnt matter how much they hate rant and rage about hurt feelings over being 'excluded'. Adult men demanding access to rape victims is spectacularly awful.

PriOn1 · 26/02/2026 20:18

The article is unrelentingly “both sides” which is ironic because Sister’s Heal has literally been set up because there is no single sex provision available.

So if their right to meet is removed, women are back without any service, while men who claim they’re women can access all services.

Glad they covered it but they missed a hugely significant angle.

Any denying of single sex spaces to rape victims who request them is beyond awful but this particular situation is beyond beyond awful. A rape victim was suing the provision because they offered mens, trans and single 'gender' mixed sex groups but not a single option just for women (the majority of SA victims), at the 11th hour after months of proceedings the provision back down and promise a womens group. Months later despite the promise, despite the funding being peovided no sign of women only group so victims set up their own charity and their own groups and what happens? The TRAs pile on and try to get them shut down. They are actually beneath contempt.

Justme56 · 26/02/2026 21:23

Just to add I looked up their information and they set up a fund to help move forward. It looks like their original target was £750 and have now reached £1100 which is good news.

The people involved in this are. Their behaviour is disgusting and its inexcuseable.

Men, who strongly believe that even raped women seeking help should be revolving around them, and if they don't, then preventing them from accessing any help. It is repulsive, what sort of a human being thinks like this about others? It's as disturbed as the sewage of sexually violent ideation that emanates from this politically lobby.

InconvenientlyMaterial · 26/02/2026 17:20

I agree. I phrased my post badly.

I think I might complain from both angles though.

Whilst the misogynist bias is unacceptable, I think the way the BBC report hard-line trans activist views as if they speak for all trans people is (actually) transphobic and also dangerous because they're uncritically amplifying borderline terrorist behaviour.

It strikes me that Joshua is not a great journalist in managing to portray both sides in a negative light and it’s surprising that they’re a ‘BBC’ journalist.

What??? It’s surprising that they’re a journalist? Surely at least on here, of all threads, it’s no big deal to say that he is a journalist? Or are we, now, scared of that, too?

Actually I hadn’t purposely used ‘they’re’ lol and no idea if the journalist is NB or not. No fear, just tired and it’s late 😉

Brilliant! Not what the TRAs were hoping to achieve I’m sure.

There's quite an active discusion on the BBC Sussex facebook page about this.

Unsuprisingly there are some who are all about think about the poor TW, where are they to go etc., but quite a few posts about the need for and the legal right to single sex services.

I was going to say I was surprised as I assume all of Brighton is totally captured, but maybe the difference is that facebook page is Sussex.

A row has broken out over a Brighton event's single-sex attendance policy. More here: https://bbc.in/3MwRZEe

I think the ones that are saying poor TW probably don’t realise that every women’s service in Brighton is centred around TW. Everything with official funding is for TW with biological women an after thought.

Sisters Heal is just a group of volunteers offering support to women that the official services won’t provide.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 27/02/2026 09:21

Where do the men with trans identities go?

Anywhere they fucking want.

This narrative really has to be explained loudly to the public. These men do not want access to a service because they haven't got one - they've got all the choosy choices and are the star clients of all the services currently there.

Women have had to set one up for themselves because of this, and those men cannot tolerate or allow women to have any accessible thing for themselves. It's dog in the manger. 'I don't need it but I'll make damn sure you can't have it so there'. It's as per bloody usual the behaviour you'd expect to have grown out of at about the age of three.

They do not NEED a service.
They want to stop women having one.

I think it was on the facebook page, but in a way that doesn't matter, but is there really no one in Brighton prepared to ask the local Council and the Police why are you allowing this group to harass and intimidate women from putting on a voluntary service for other women, which is well within the law.

Can you imagine if say a group with a shared religion who wanted to put on a event in relation to that, were hounded by local residents.

Or is Brighton, like other councils unable to believe that women have rights.

And certainly think the police should be investigating this group.

Isn't what they are doing hate speech.

Single sex gatherings based on biology are legal.

I suppose it would help if the venues who have been intimidated put in complaints, but suspect they wont do that because they feel they will go on being the target of the reactionary male TRAs.

Terf Watch Brighton, which describes itself as a grassroots collective of journalists

Identifying as journalists? Is that the new noun for wankers?

Funny.

There seems to be several wankers (singular) identitying as multiple people in order to avoid individual liability issues and being identified by the police out there.

We know of one who did actually get arrested not too long ago for his long running campaigns of harassment against multiple people.

TheRozzers · 27/02/2026 19:28

I wonder if it should be reported to the police. Harassing women like this does feel like a misogynistic hate crime. Maybe the police in Brighton only care about misgendering.

In the instance of targeting a lesbian group, they could probably report a homophobic hate crime.

IwantToRetire · 27/02/2026 21:16

Part of me still doesn't understand as this is now in the public domain why no person in a position or authority or what ever, hasn't spoken up in support of the aim of the support group.

Its just so normalised.

Not just the harassment, but the belittling of what is important to women.
