Dr Upton is off to Australia it seems, after creating a toxic situation for women in NHS Fife, wonder if Dr Upton is going to be working in “ Gender Services “ down under ?

Why do you feel sorry for the Australian women patients? Her medical skills aren't in question and there is no evidence or suggestion that she has ever mistreated any female patient. If you had a collapse and she was the only doctor in sight (like on a plane) I bet you'd be quite happy to put your prejudices aside and have her treat you!

i wouldn't let a doctor who believes he is a biological woman near me with a 10 foot bargepole.

Good post though, gave me a right belly laugh

AnnaMagnani · 15/02/2026 11:31

More boringly, I suspect his contract has finished in Fife. There is a recruitment crisis for junior doctors making it hard to get a job in the UK at the next step on the career ladder.

Having been off sick for ages won't help his job applications, even though they are all done anonymised.

We export loads of doctors to Australia and New Zealand every year - if he can't get a job in Scotland, Australia is the obvious place to go, especially as he will know where to go for the highest level of trans protection.

Upton described himself in court as a “biological woman”. Call me prejudiced, but I have this crazy preference for being treated by doctors with a basic grasp of science.

Dragging that poor wife of his thousands of miles from home to indulge his fantasies eh

She seemed to be very supportive of him during the trial. Maybe she’s staying here though?

The 'has quit employment at Fife' is the only confirmed part of the story. The 'going to Australia' part is just speculation by 'an insider' at Fife. However it's not unreasonable speculation as the path to Oz is well trodden by UK medics (I happen to know two myself).

And it's an even more attractive move for someone who can see that the legal proceedings in which they are a central witness are far from over. There is the real possibility of a retrial of Sandie's case plus the additional claims she's started against Searle et al which have barely started. Not to mention the potential for professional disciplinary proceedings.

If it happens it will no doubt be framed as 'forced to flee UK because of transphobia'. 'Didn't fancy facing difficult questions from Ben Cooper and Naomi Cunningham' doesn't sound so good..

His/him
No-one on this planet really believes he’s the only human being ever to have successfully changed sex.

Not sure he is cut out to be a doctor, what with his incredibly thin skin and a nasty case of main character syndrome.

Sounds very much like my daughters gynaecologist, seems to be a personality trait for some professionals in the NHS. He did a real number on her, poor girl has been diagnosed with CPTSD due to his God like attitude!

I'd move to the other side of the world too if I was going to be facing Ben and Naomi!!!

He is a bloke who said he expectation was that another staff member participate in allowing his assault of a female patient.

He may have clinical skills. Its his ethical outlook which is the problem.

People with poor ethics are not good employees as they introduce avoidable risk into the work place.

Its well known that if an individuals has poor ethics in one area of life flows this into all areas of that individuals life.

No six ft plus hockey goalie bloke in dress-up gets to treat me without my consent, which he said he would if I requested woman-only care. Particularly not if he goes and blubs in the car park afterwards when I tell him no.

He assaulted a female patient? How come he wasn't struck off for that?

EmmyFr · 15/02/2026 11:47

@PithyViewer he explicitly said he would disregard the wish of a female patient not to be treated by him as a male. I'm not saying this is the assault referred to by another poster, I'm not even saying it has already happened, but that's enough to feel sorry for the Australian female patients

You may need to look up the meaning of words i wrote

Or/and
Maybe just reread it slowly?

Worse
He said he expected other staff to ignore their training and legal obligation and NHS employee contract terms to bring him to her while knowing she requesred a same sex medic

So not a person who should be given a position of any authority.

Grimy it shows how important it was when Scottish women forced the legal provision for medics in an Examiner role in Sexual Assault cases to be of the sex requested by victims.

You're making a spectacle of yourself here. The entire point of the case was that Dr Upton is male. There is no question about this. In the English language the pronouns for a male person are he/him/his, not she/her/hers.

I couldn't think of a worse place to go if you're a pretend Sheila 😂

2Rebecca · 15/02/2026 12:08

I think this is a non story. He is a recently qualified junior doctor. Most junior doctors move a lot early in their careers. Posts rotate every January and August. It is likely his short term training contract with NHS Fife finished and he has moved to a different area like many junior docs. This shouldn’t be news.

Upton described himself in court as a “biological woman”.

Did he seriously make that claim? Was it not challenged? Or did he at least say on what basis?

Of course it should be news! It means there is one less thing for nurses in Kirkcaldy to have to deal with on a daily basis.

BoeotianNightmare · 15/02/2026 12:11

@Snippityeah, after I posted my earlier comment, my own description did bring to mind a male gynaecologist I had dealings with. I'm sorry about your DD 😟

Yes he did.
He said words to the effect that he wasn't a robot and was biological, therefore a biological woman.

I feel sorry for anyone who may be treated by a medic who thinks that the need for informed consent doesn’t apply to him.

Because he’s stated he would ignore consent and so basically sexually assault a woman. He should be struck off for that alone.
