Alternately, I'm open to taking over a castle community. The French have a tradition know as Beguine Communities, where women could retreat into female only spaces without taking vows. After everything I've learned about the rape gangs, Epstein and the problems face Refuge for funding, I think we need something like that here. The Government at every layer has shown it does not care about women. We should stop demanding equality - they don't think us worthy of it. We need a matriachy example. Run by women, for women. Stop asking for scraps.

I have visited several béguinages (now mostly mixed sex or sold off, I fear) and they are delightful. A little house for each woman with enough space for her furniture, clothes, books and cat, then all one's female friends nearby and a communal garden. Paradise.

What I noticed from Arebella's old thread is that the societies that continue to work:

a) Have women holding the purse strings and/or authority(e.g matrilocal, where females stay in the home & men move out) and,
b) have a long term solution for boys.

The 70s communes struggled in the next generation because mothers of sons moved away or the heterosexual women wanted relationships with men.

I love the idea of a pub, archery range and car-free streets with lots of sheltered seating. And a Friday night roving cocktail bar. The whole area gets patrolled by territorial geese.

I'm in if there's going to be a pub, archery and a chocolate shop, I can take or leave men, right now leave them far, far behind, but not chocolate. 😁

Just asked DH what a fun, men-only village would be like and he looked horrified. "What? For more than a weekend? You'd need some way of working off the aggression because no one would be getting laid."

Try that again... I think caring for kids and the inherent strength advantage was a double whammy against us in the past, regarding men treating us like crap (as a sex class).. Reliable contraception is still a recent thing - It's been out for only 60 years and the effects are still rippling out across the world now.
