Its live today on the scottish tribunals website and lasting for three days. Easy to join and good audio quality. I think that's marion on screen in the background. She seemed rather amused at the judge trying to understand the definitions.

So the Scottish Prison Service has said that there is no evidence, because the body responsible for the collection of evidence won't collect that evidence.

That body is the Scottish Prison Service.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON???? 😡😡😡

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 03/02/2026 14:54

It is just plain wrong that a government can in all seriousness make an argument we must do it because otherwise they'll commit suicide.

No government would bow to such shroud waving if they weren't 100% in league with the group and are using their power and authority to impose the groups agenda. 🤯

ickky · 03/02/2026 14:56

@TheywontletmehavethenameIwant

Indeed. We don't give in to terrorists!

womendeserveequalhumanrights · 03/02/2026 15:00

I’m interested to read how she spins the SPS housing multiple male murderers/torturers in the women’s estate

At some point the Scottish government is just offering up women to be raped, tortured or murdered because special men want to rape, torture or murder women. It's a matter of time. Whoever made these decisions is really no better than the Taliban in intent.

I'm pretty sure also that 99% of the prison population has the 'perception' they shouldn't be incarcerated so I don't see what a criminal's 'perception' has to do with anything. Again, only applies to special men seemingly.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 03/02/2026 15:01

And which special men?

If the passing ones are going in - based on some board or something who will set 'passing criteria' - are they sent back to the men's facilities the moment a woman says 'that's a man!'

If they could prove putting men in women's prisons was a great and wonderful thing, there would be data to support this and there'd be buns for tea. Except they can't, or won't, so haven't, but still want the buns for tea.

Thesnailonthewhale · 03/02/2026 15:11

The answer is to put ALL men who pretend to be women in their own prison. That way they're in a "women's" prison, and they can't argue that the other men pretending to be women aren't women and they've been placed in a men's prison.

This is the obvious answer. They have sent positively oodles of money to LGBTQ+ charities, use it for this instead.

Unless of course it's women as a resource to abuse that is the desired goal.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 03/02/2026 15:14

These women, most of whom are vulnerable, are entirely in the care and responsibility of the state. They cannot consent, even the ones saying they're fine with it, and the state has a responsibility to them.

We really are having to argue women's basic existence edited: sentience and humanity, never mind equality in law. It's beyond shocking.

But prisons are overcrowded as it is. There just isn’t the capacity or financial resources. Perhaps a separate wing in the male prison system

Truly dystopian. I had no idea how much they hate us.

AO Why are they bringing up Christine Goodwin all the time. Have they seen a photo of him?

@Thesnailonthewhale

It would need to be very small as I'm sure once the enticement of access to their prey is removed. the incidence of rapid onset after arrest gender dysphoria will all but disappear.

Or tell them 'no' and stop pandering to their BS...

I’m worried about the questions the judge is asking. Have a horrible feeling about this one.

ickky · 03/02/2026 15:29

Well, I think she is playing devils advocate, but if not there is always the Supreme Court.

I think she's onboard, just making sure everything is covered.

Well I'm hoping so anyway...

Oo er, is A O'N qualified to say that there's no "statistically significant difference"?

ProfessorLadyDrKeenovay · 03/02/2026 15:36

The manual opt-out for A/V in these online tribunals still makes me sweat.

Why they can't send a unique, personalised link to contributors, with the hoi polloi automatically given observer-only access...

Me too. I have come to the view that by far the easiest way to handle it is to turn off my camera and microphone at the level of the computer (go to settings and completely disable both). That way I don't have to worry about the specific behaviour of any of the different software the tribunals use. What I do have to do, of course, is to remember to turn them back on again before my next video meeting...

Same thing. Basically put them all together.

If prisons in Scotland are anything like those in England, the obvious answer to the problem of suicidality among prisoners (and the shocking numbers of actual prisoner deaths by suicide) is to spend more money on prisons. Make them fundamentally decent places where at least minimal standards of safety, respect and efficiency can be implemented.

As a PP has said, you should be able to control risks of suicide in secure accommodation. And it's not just a matter of control and security. It's about treating every prisoner with appropriate respect and concern.

A system that so profoundly dehumanises the people governed by it, and then fixates on just one aspect of a small number of prisoners (i.e. their trans identity) and showers it with a super-concentrated dose of the respect that is denied in every other circumstances is bizarre to the point of black comedy.

My understanding - from info online - is that Scottish women's prisons are generally much more pleasant than those for men - a bit more like student dormitories in most cases.

Can't find the info I'm looking for apart from this.

No no, make them look ridiculous.

Not a single one if them can surely claim that they're not in a women's prison... And if they do, they will undermine the whole men pretending to be women...

If all the people in there identify as women and TWAW then surely they'd have nothing to complain about....
