Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton, following Employment Tribunal judgment - thread #60

1000 replies

nauticant · 16/12/2025 22:37

Judgment was handed down on 8 December 2025:

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6936ce28a6fc97b81e57436a/S_Peggie_v_Fife_Health_Board__Dr_Upton.pdf

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence was 29 July 2025. It resumed again over 1 to 2 September for closing submissions.
Following handing down of the judgment on 8 December 2025, on 11 December 2025, it was announced by Sandie Peggie and her legal team that they would be pursuing an appeal.

The hearing was live tweeted by x.com/tribunaltweets and there's additional information here: tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/peggie-vs-fife-health-board-and-dr-005 and tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/peggie-vs-fife-health-board-and-dr-bd6.

The Telegraph gave us the full image. I was particularly struck by the small snail that had crept into his crotch to keep warm and damp.

😂😂😂

Scabbie Sond seems a little too harsh even for Kemp!!

Naw. No harsh enough.

Even Keechie Kemp wouldnae be ower harsh.

I spent part of my childhood in Fife. I’ve been racking my brain for an equivalent of “pax”. I’m not sure calling for a truce was an option!

“Game’s a bogey” or “ baw’s burst” when calling off play due to rule breaking.

I can't think of an equivalent. If we were playing tig, then it was "You're het!" instead of '"You're it!" Cannot think of an equivalent of 'pax' at all...

I can just remember "Dae ye gie up?" or "Ma mum's shoutin fur me!"

WearyAuldWumman · 17/12/2025 20:38

I'll say one thing: in Fife we're "thrawn". Upton's maybe stubborn, but he's no thrawn in the same way as those of us from a working class background. Methinks he's had a shock.

A vet once called my horse thrawn. He's not wrong haha.

The best explanation that I ever heard of the difference between 'stubborn' and 'thrawn' was the story told by the late Robbie Shepherd. He wasn't wrong.

Jumping back, our version of pax, trucie etc was "Keys!" with both thumbs up. I've never heard of any of the others before this thread.

I wonder how many other people's headspace Dr U has invaded?

We crossed our fingers and said ‘creasies’.

WellOrganisedWoman · 17/12/2025 20:49

@WearyAuldWumman

Seafield 😁
Crazy house prices for rammed in boring new builds spitting distance from bandit country. Handy for the freezing cold shows once a year though!

WellOrganisedWoman · 17/12/2025 21:01

@WearyAuldWumman

Tig? Did ye no play chasin?
Het - yes!
“black sheep” for the kid who wanted to play but was too wee for the rules to apply. Maybe Sond the Sap declared Upton the black sheep?

"isla bryson" chose to wear those leggings precisely to say 'fuck you' to all women, including the one who died on his tiny hill.

Was that "tiny hill" the one we could see through the leggings?

WearyAuldWumman · 17/12/2025 21:15

I think my mum said 'Tig'. I vaguely recall it being used in a rhyme, but can't recall the rhyme. Yes, we probably said 'chasin'.

Have just seen a post on a FB Benarty group. Someone has demanded that they remove a post about Upton. (It had a pic of him in his bearded days.) In response, they've reposted the post with a comment saying that they only remove posts where someone is threatening violence. However, I can no longer find the post.

Someone will have reported it and FB will have taken it down because, like every other Big Tech outfit, they are all about teh menz.

Well, there's certainly something about Fife Cooncil and certain Fife businesses.

The article references Seafield Colliery. There's now a private housing estate there. For some reason, the houses were all - to my knowledge - purchased by incomers from Edinburgh and other areas.

All the necessary permissions for building were given. Nevertheless, for some strange reason the locals weren't so keen on buying houses on top of checks notes a coal mine known to be particularly prone to flooding. You'd think that the name might have given it away, wouldn't you? (The estate is called Seafield. The developers reckon that the view is 'stunning'.)

A friend of mine bought a new build on an estate called 'Watermead'. By the time I found out the address it was too late to say anything.

WearyAuldWumman · 17/12/2025 22:22

Ouch.

So she is capable of telling the truth but was choosing to kiss ass rather than support a nurse dealing with a predatory male in the female changing room.
A male we now know is trying to impregnate his wife - all while telling a judge under oath he is female...

This epitomizes the management class - a class of kiss-asses who go with the flow no matter how wrong that is.

Edited

Sorry but you've got that wrong, Upton is not the trans identified man who is allegedly trying to get his wife pregnant, that is "Rose" from the Darlington nurses case.

Peregrina · 17/12/2025 14:45

Isn't it all so convenient. Off she pops and her successor says "Nothing to do with me Guv, all before my time."

Was Dr Upton really worth curtailing your career for Mrs Potter?

She probably thought she'd get a promotion for supporting a man over a woman.

I'm struggling to remember our truce term but I found this interesting. We could locate you all quite accurately from what you yelled as a kid in the playground!

We played tig, and the person who was chasing was "het". Dutch for "it" btw. I noticed a pile of Dutch words in our dialect and other E coast regional dialects too.

Surely it would be safe to assume the male Upton being married to his wife would be trying for a baby, despite them both being in a lesbian relationship, now that society ignores biology for feeling's, but one can still have a miracle baby, so two “women” can reproduce in this brave new world of ours.

Does anyone know where Upton currently works?

Not necessarily, as some people don't have kids.

Let's not stalk and dox people. They go low, we go high.

Have you read 'Thrawn Janet'? The most scary short story you'll ever read. By Robert Louis Stevenson.

No and I think it's much better not to make assumptions.

We've managed 60 threads where we've all tried to be as accurate and factual as possible, and correct each other's mistakes. Let's keep going with that.

Edited to say I agree with @selffellatingouroborosofhate post after yours.

Oooh. Thanks for this. I've read some RLS short stories and they are masterly, but I hadn't heard of this one. Definitely on my list now.

EDIT: 49p on Kindle. Have bought. Will be great Christmas reading!
