Completely agree. Tom is right on this issue. You shouldn't discount a debate because of a person's view on other subjects.

PB and GC can't be argued from a left or right position as it's about harm to all children and rights of all women.

It isn't a right wing agenda to "claim" biological women are the only kind of women because they are. I'm as left as you like, Kier Starmer and Tony Blair are a bit Lib Dem to me. I've only ever voted Green (not now obvs) or Labour, but I know what facts are and women aren't men or boys who think they are female. I have a lot of sympathy for anyone suffering distress, but humans can't change sex and that's that.

If the Left want to stop this being a "Right wing dogwhistle" it's blindingly easy - all they need to do is say "trans women aren't women, no, so they can't ue women-only spaces, speak credibility as women or take places reserved for women. But there's absolutely no reason men can't wear dresses, express culturally feminine preferences, and push for men to give the same respect to men-only spaces that women give to woman-only spaces. And there's absolutely no reason men, and indeed women, can't come together with shared identities beyond just Man or Woman. It's just that it isn't ok to redefine Man and Woman to label one of these identities. And it really really really isn't ok, for so many reasons, to mess around with healthy endocrine systems or have surgery in attempt to sculpt your body into the opposite sex because that's what you think your personality needs. We can't stop adults doing that, although we can certainly stop incentivising them by pretending they have "transitioned" to being the opposite sex, but we can and shoudl make it illegal to do that to children."

And yet, they don't. They just blame the Right for pointing out the problems in their position.

@FlirtsWithRhinos @Diosmonet In fairness it isn't "the left" it's lots of people on the left granted but simplifying it as left and right doesn't help the situation. This is how it's been presented from the start to encourage people to fall into line, so anyone dissenting can be labelled with one of the worst names you can call a lefty - a bigot.

I agree with you about the people, but the fact remains the Estalishment of the Left - the political parties grassroots to government (with the proud exception of the Communists), the mouthpieces, the media outlets, and because it's the Left, the cultural establishment as well, have all actively silenced any Left voices that do not endorse (or pretend to endorse) Genderist beliefs.

So in this case, at the structual political level, I'm afraid it actually is Left and Right.

To be clear, I'm not saying the issue of Genderism is naturally Left or Right, I'm saying the Left estalishment (political and cultural) has caused it to become so by being derelict in its duty.

Women here are deadly serious about women’s rights and not treating “woman” as a costume and roleplay for men. And deadly serious about keeping children’s health away from ideologues like Helen Webber.

Not so interested in purity testing everything against a fantasy ideal world where all the lovely left- wing men listen to what women are saying and start asking some questions about gender ideology.

Don’t care all that much who is asking the questions, and certainly not particularly “supporting” them over anyone else.

When the sensitive, kind, nice and correct thinking left wing men ask some hard questions of people like HW, we’ll be right there cheering them on.

But they aren’t currently asking anything awkward at all. Turns out they are more concerned with saving their own progressive credentials than really sticking up for women.

I've checked and the testosterone overdose was prescribed by a doctor in the EU (not publicly named) who is/was employed by Gender GP.
Mike Webberley was struck off by the GMC for incompetent care of children with gender dysphoria including inappropriate prescriptions of puberty blockers and cross sex hormones.

Checking over the court judgement in the case of the child with anorexia prescribed a testosterone overdose - their only assessment by Gender GP was a single online meeting wiyj a counsellor. No medical assessment, no physical or psychiatric exam, no height or weight or evaluation on puberty stage, no blood tests.

Helen Webberley is fully responsible for that structure of her company. Either she cares so little about her customers that she hasn't even bothered to read any details of the case or she is simply lying.

Whatever your views on gender affirming medicine - she is incompetent, callous and is financially exploiting trans people and their families.
