Spotted on the Guardian today:

Raising money for the kimono-clad fox-killer's "Good" Law Project.

Definitely one to avoid!

Sugababes, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Wolf Alice and more to play all-star charity concert for trans rights

Organised by Olly Alexander and the Mighty Hoopla festival to ‘fight back against the politics of fear and exclusion’, Trans Mission will take place at Wembley Arena in March

The organisers are Mighty Hoopla - GLP and Not A Phase are just the intended beneficiaries of any money raised.

If anyone makes a loss it will be Mighty Hoopla, which is a private limited company.

And according to their latest filed accounts, they made a loss in 2024.

So I don't think that any complicated tax-avoidance structure is necessary 😆

Greyskybluesky · 10/12/2025 15:01

Mighty Hoopla is the one whose parent company is involved in Israeli developments in Palestinian territory, right? Sorry if it's been asked, just needed to clarify.

ETA: just found the details earlier in the thread

Greyskybluesky · 10/12/2025 15:06

Thanks @ArabellaSaurus. Am just passing on the details to someone who doesn't seem to believe me!

MowingMachine · 10/12/2025 15:13

So, reading between the lines, Superstruct rescued the ailing Mighty Hoopla in 2023. MH were happy enough to take the money lifeline. And then, oops! It turns out that when you let yourself be bought, you lose control of who owns you.

See also Ben & Jerry, and Unilever.

MowingMachine · 10/12/2025 15:46

Also, Mighty Hoopla are putting on a festival in Sydney, two weeks before the trans benefit.

Mighty Hoopla have never put on a festival in Sydney before. And they will be organising it at the same time as getting ready for Wembley Arena.

This is going to be an utter shitshow behind and possibly in front of the scenes.

I've been trying to work out why MH would do this - they are scheduled to put on three large festivals on in 2026 - in Sydney, London and Malta. That is a huge undertaking. (Especially as last year's London ones nearly went tits up, due to their hopeless organisational skills.)

And with the trans benefit they are putting on another large concert - thus increasing their workload by up to 25%. For no extra money.

And then it hit me. They trying to transwash! For the omnicause, so they will be forgiven for who their owners are. And so all their artists in their main festivals won't cancel them...

ArabellaSaurus · 10/12/2025 20:25

Oh dear, what a shame.

RavelsDancer · 10/12/2025 22:38

I will be gardening that night.

Also, “To be trans is to celebrate the infinite possibility of the human condition"

Did AI come up with that? Is that a sentence that Mr Darcy utters to Elizabeth Bennett?

RavelsDancer · 10/12/2025 22:42

I think misogyny not being real anymore may just be the point of the movement, I dunno ...

StupidHappyClocks · 10/12/2025 22:56

A long list of grifters, innit?

Olly Alexander is such a talentless little twit, trust him to be involved.

And Kate Nash? lol.

If they can fill Wembley, good luck to them!

Edited

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single trans in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a …well obviously not a ticket to this car crash.

what on earth? Their website gives a grovelly apology for being associated with a company involved in ‘colonising and genociding’ Palestine and then swiftly reassures that it is supporting ‘other lgbtqi’ charities and confirming its support for all things queer. Do they think Palestine is a queer state?

Bwahahahaha!

@INeedAPensieve my thoughts exactly re the Guardian. They've been such a disappointment throughout.

Hamas will compete in Eurovision, since Iceland dropped out (so I've heard).

Interesting advertising for the Sydney festival - I am surprised that some of the Australian artists listed would want to be associated with them….

My above post is under review, and I am not surprised - it is quite disturbing. If you go to the website of the company as linked above, there is an interesting montage of “images”.

OMG

OMG

Quite…

Not really the type of promotion that I would have thought Delta Goodrem or Jessica Mauboy would have been associated with in any way at all.

Datun · 11/12/2025 11:57

Oh dear God what is that? A bloke with tits for a penis, and the word cunt, coyly written with a V?

It looks like the sort of thing you find in the back of a schoolboy's notepad.

And grown up artists who take themselves seriously want to be associated with this??

TheAutumnCrow · 11/12/2025 14:02

It’s an udder dick, aka an ‘ick’.

HildegardP · 11/12/2025 18:59

MowingMachine · 10/12/2025 10:31

Wow. The Ovo Wembley Arena is bigger than that.

Do they really think they are going to fill this space with transes and "allies", on a wet Wednesday in March?

Depends, stuff like what sort of venues do the acts usually sell out & how much audience cross-over is there between the acts will drive sales far more than who the beneficiary is.

Edited for dyslexia, some may remain.
