Stephen Whittle the Ex President of WPATH declares it never happened.

And if it did happen you made it up to make her and her ilk look bad.

Urgh. I had to do my online EDI training this week. It was still full of references to Whittle and Stonewall. 🙄

InterrobangsArePureBias · 15/11/2025 08:46

Butterfly Hatched is probably engaged in an interesting correspondence with Whittle around now.

Helleofabore · 15/11/2025 08:48

Does everyone remember this interview?

There are signs that Whittle should be stepping back from
speaking in public. Whittle is not well and I suspect that people who enabled her to live deseiving herself as a man may not be helping her now.

ripx4nutmeg (@ripx4nutmeg) on X

Stephen Whittle, a woman who says she's a man, appeared on LBC to support UK school children being shown a girl using chest binders, saying it will reduce both 'transphobia' and child suicides. When she was challenged on her claims, she got aggressive...

I am convinced whittle is very unwell. This is not the first time she has said something that is clearly either dishonest or an indicator of something misfiring over the past months.

Yes. It's a very odd claim to make. So obviously untrue and easy to disprove.

Why post it on X, too?

OldCrone · 15/11/2025 08:54

I don't remember any objection from Whittle at WPATH 2018 when Marci Bowers said that children should be allowed to have surgery.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/3416169-Susie-Green

So that's at least two trans people supporting surgery on children. And I'm sure we'd have heard if all the other trans people who attended were outraged by this.

Susie Green | Mumsnet

Is the implication that she supports this? I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, but fucking hell!!

Butterfly is going to be furious

Shedmistress · 15/11/2025 08:57

Hopefully Whittle is currently supporting Keira Bell and James Esses to get clarity on the mystery secret Puberty Blocker Trial (LBA yesterday). Thank goodness she is fully on their side!

I mean, I think Whittle discrediting herself is noteworthy. Don’t get me wrong, she has allowed and encouraged horrific medical abuse to happen to children and vulnerable people. She has been responsible for so much of the policy that harms women and children.

I wonder if people behind the scenes are going to be able to convince her to retire.

OldCrone · 15/11/2025 09:02

Much of the campaign for puberty blockers to be given to children comes from middle-aged TIMs who say they wish they'd had them as children so that they'd pass better.

(But not really of course, because they quite like that they've had an active sex life as an adult and fathered children.)

But they still insist that children really should have them.

I'd have expected to see some blame shifting. Whittle has been so deeply involved, for so long. She will have the ability to implicate a lot of people.

Shedmistress · 15/11/2025 09:06

I'd love to see the emails where she vehemently railed against the removal of any age restrictions that came from Rachel Levine. Come on love, publish them and prove us wrong.

Ah

That didnt happen
And if it did, it wasnt that bad
And if it was, that's not a big deal
And if it is, that's not my fault...

As recently as this year Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) were at it.:

Trans charity risked causing harm to children with advice on puberty blockers, Charities Regulator warned
Trans charity risked causing harm to children with advice on puberty blockers, Charities Regulator warned
The Charities Regulator raised concerns that a transgender support charity was potentially causing “harm” to children by publishing unequivocal advice relating to the use of puberty blockers.

Sun 29 Jun 2025
Trans charity risked causing harm to children with advice on puberty blockers, Charities Regulator warned | Irish Independent
It deleted the page.

TENI had a totally disproportionate degree of influence and power in Ireland in the 2010s, leading up to the waving through of the Gender Recognition Act, self-ID etc. in 2015.
They were accepted as the expert advisers on all things gender, deferred to by political, legal, medical, educational etc institutions.
They played a huge role in achieving Ireland's 'progressive' status on trans rights privileges.
They are a good source of basketsful of 'receipts' to help the absentminded Prof Whittle recall what actually happened...

I notice that WPATH has magically disappeared from current discussion of trans health issues. It used to be central, along with the equally influential and equally questionable 'Yogyakarta Principles'.

Fortunately, the internet never forgets.

CarefulN0w · 15/11/2025 10:45

Of course it’s our fault for campaigning wrong. Shades of bananarama again.

SwordToFlamethrower · 15/11/2025 10:50

They also said they never meant that you could "literally" change sex...

Well, the NHS still supports a sterilisation process that starts in childhood.

From 16, females (who identify as male) can have testosterone on the NHS. They can supplement this with puberty blockers for faster access to sterilisation if they go via Gender GP, but on the NHS they can only access the slower pathway.

Regardless whether it's NHS or private healthcare, the "good news" is that within 5 years, the patient's womb will have atrophied sufficiently that even the gender clinics recommend removing it. Et voila! Sterilisation complete! Although they had to wait until adulthood for the final furlong, it all began its almost inevitable conclusion 2 years before they turned 18.

PictureParfait · 15/11/2025 11:33

Well Prof Whittle thinks she's a man, so I guess her internal congruence is not strong in any dept!

But anyway, like you say OP, ha ha at the backtracking 😆

Greyskybluesky · 15/11/2025 11:36

From the Trans Liberation Group's demands:

Legally enshrine the right to transition - where a person has Gillick competence there should be no interference with their transition. This includes trans children, who should not require parental consent to transition.

Deafnotdumb · 15/11/2025 11:38

The attempts at reverse ferreting are glorious. As are the replies with receipts.

Has the penny dropped there are lawsuits coming in the USA and WPATH will be implicated?

nicepotoftea · 15/11/2025 11:46

Whittle:

"They argue with forked brains - as adults we mustn’t be sterile, but also how dare we have or raise kids"

Who is suggesting that anyone be sterilised? I can't think of anyone representing the 'gender critical' argument who wouldn't say that it is irrelevant as it doesn't change anyone's sex.

BundleBoogie · 15/11/2025 11:51

So gender clinics were advising sperm preservation and egg harvesting for shits and giggles, right?

CarefulN0w · 15/11/2025 12:24

I’m looking forward to seeing how others climb down, back peddle or make out they were on the RSOH all along. I’m sure we have a Caitlin Moran book to look forward to very soon.
