About time!!

IOC likely to announce new policy early in new year after findings of a scientific review about the permanent physical advantages of being born male

The International Olympic Committee is set to announce a ban on transgender women in female competition early next year after a science-based review of evidence about permanent physical advantages of being born male.

The IOC’s guidance to Olympic sports has until now been that transgender women can compete with reduced testosterone levels but leaves it up to individual sports to decide. That is now set to change under its new president, Kirsty Coventry, who has promised to protect the female category.

The committee’s medical and scientific director, Dr Jane Thornton, last week presented to IOC members at a meeting in Lausanne the initial findings of a science-based review into the issues of transgender athletes and athletes with differences of sexual development (DSD) competing in female sport.

Can we also have the medals and positions correctly amended?

This hasn't been done in the case of the obvious Eastern block dopers of the 1980s whose 'World records' amazingly still hang over current female athletes who may never break them - a continuing injustice.

The Olympics has had a woman problem for decades. It's only the public outcry over this that has made them act. I'm glad, but sad we don't get unconditional support. We have to make a hell of a noise.

The medals and prize money won't be returned but there must be a way to erase or silo the results. They are useless as a benchmark for women's performance and also put bonuses for future record-breaking out of the athletes' reach.

I guess the best we can hope for is erasing the male cheats and just bumping all the women up by however many places were stolen by the men. It's not perfect, as the men will have fucked up all the knockout stages and dependencies for match-based sports, but at least their male records will be scrubbed from women's records, and it corrects the corruption as far as possible at this late stage.

Absolutely infuriating.

This is in the sports section of today's Sunday Independent, an Irish newspaper:

Tide is starting to turn in sport and in society against men masquerading as women

https://archive.vn/zlNgC

Well worth a read for some plain-speaking.

It's an excellent article right until the last three sentences!

I wish people realised that Canute did not think for a moment that he could turn the tide. He had nobles who wanted the impossible of him, and was demonstrating to them that you can scream for the impossible all you want but it still won't happen: cry for the moon if you choose, but you won't get it.

With a bit of juggling his example could be used against people who think that if they want to hard enough and make enough fuss about it, they can change sex....

When we've erased the fake records so that women have a chance to be best in their sports category again, we need to start on the fake records about sexual violence committed by "women", ie males who said "I identify as a woman" to the police and were recorded as being the sex they were (and are) not. Those need to be erased, and re-recorded as being crimes by the actual sex that committed them.

If they've not been recorded in any way as male crimes, even in code ("transgender woman"), is it possible?

The names of the people who committed the crimes will have been recorded and linked with the crimes.

For a start, any verdict that someone is guilty of rape, in this country, means that person is male; women don't have penises to commit rape with.

But yes, it will be possible in at least some of the cases if the police and the prison service actually want to do it. They know perfectly well that "Mamie Smith" was "James Smith" when they arrested him for sexual assault, and only became Mamie as the case was being taken to court. They know that Barbara Jones was Edward Jones when he committed the crime. Often they know that a person purporting to be female went on to commit rape or sexual assault on women after he was released; and they would certainly know which of their prisoners could be observed to have penises when they were in the showers.

Won’t DNA be on file at least for convicted criminals?
