Is it not possible to have "trans rights" and "women's rights" at the same time?

I suppose I just think debate is too polarised. I think the answer might be to have third spaces (e.g. a separate toilet a bit like a disabled toilet) for trans women, so they're safe and women are safe. I think it would be nice if women supported transpeople and transpeople supported women (e.g at a trans rights demo and a women's rights demo). Not all transwomen are rapists, just as not all men are.

This ‘there were no complaints before’ argument has been getting a work out on the two NHS employment tribunals.

And here it is again.

@Artmumcreative I think we can call this argument type the

‘No female person complained before, why now?’ argument.

I believe this is supposed to be a winning argument but it is not the winning argument that those using it believe it is. It shows the lack of respect for any female person who needed their space to remain single sex and who didn’t realise the space they entered was mixed sex. (because male people felt free to use it, making it mixed sex). Nor does it respect those who did complain and got no positive response to their complaint.

Its reminding me of the man in the gym in the US, recently interviewed on TV and killing himself laughing at how upset the woman was at seeing him and his penis in her changing room.

She was upset, angry and violated, and he clearly loved it.

Err not error!!!

Adorable? I suppose there are hints of Nigel Molesworth. 🤔

having just done an AS I think she may be a genuinely naive poster new to the issue.

This would be a simple solution but what you are forgetting is that TIMs get of on invading female spaces.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 06/11/2025 09:53

Always good to see a man completely ignoring that women have lived with single sex facilities for ever and know precisely how they operate. It was only when the predatory beliefs that women and girls have no right to boundaries and must make their undressed bodies available for random men to observe, that anything changed.

Ah yes, that's better. It's the adolescent self-importance. 😅

The Duper’s Delight expression.

Amy Sousa made a video about it as well in relation to this recent gym incident.

She is spot on.

so it's all on 'management' & their staff to conduct the 'gametal inspections' not to mention gender non conforming women to suffer the consequences of harassment ?

@Artmumcreative

This is another one of the ‘policing’ arguments. This is referring to ‘gamete’ or ‘genital’ inspection as a means of either making it seem impossible to police, so give up the notion of having single sex provisions. Or it can be intended to shame the person suggesting single sex provisions because apparently the only way to know for certain is to have to have these inspections.

It was never true before that we needed these inspections and we don’t need it now. However, we see the argument so many times in one form or another.

The genital/gamete inspection argument.

Remember, it is all about making having single sex provisions or third spaces seem too hard or impossible to maintain, so that female people stop expecting laws and policies to protect them.

No laws have an expectation that 100% of people will obey the law and no laws have the expectation that all areas covered under the law will be strictly monitored at all times (such as needing inspectors at toilet doors to let people in). Yet the arguments keep getting used as if they are meaningful.

The self-styled ‘intellectual’ - but at least Adrian Mole knew he wasn’t very clever.

Gettingbysomehow · 06/11/2025 10:57

What toilets do transmen use? I would have thought the men's toilets, if its safe for them its safe for transwomen.

Gettingbysomehow · 06/11/2025 10:59

You dont hear all this incessant row from transmen do you because they are still trying to quietly fit in just as they did when they were women.

Agreed.

It's clear that plenty of people don't fully understand what TIMs actually want. But that knowledge will grow.

ShallWeDance · 06/11/2025 13:55

Hampstead ponds?

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 06/11/2025 14:21

I think the Scot govt just answered you OP.

The answer is no. It's not possible.

Except it's not 'trans people' as a whole, it is only the men. They are making it a zero sum game and insisting that women's rights and equalities are entirely incompatible with them.

Having been challenged myself on the way to the women’s loos, I can confirm no genital inspection nor study of my gametes was necessary to prove I was in the right place.

I recoiled, laughed & spoke & it was obvious.

Context: I was puffy & bald from chemo & wearing a beanie hat and baggy top & trousers to keep warm.

I did not collapse & die from a life threatening injury to my “gender identity” either.

Given how many trans-identified men like to film themselves wanking in the women’s loos or are demonstrably their to commit indecent exposure, I suspect “genital inspections” is a sexual fantasy.

ShallWeDance · 06/11/2025 13:55

Hampstead ponds?

Yes - in case anyone wasn’t familiar, there were always men’s, women’s and a mixed sex.
but that wasn’t good enough. So it became men’s, mixed sex and another mixed sex. Nowhere for women who needed or wanted single sex but the men’s was sacrosanct!

Nice try, but there was nary a whisper from women on dunny policing till recent times when it became a lucrative grift…

I must be missing how to make money out of keeping incel TRAs out of the ladies.

Don't get me wrong, it's a win-win - they stay out, I make cash.

Where do I sign?

Oooh me too. I'm putting in a new bathroom and could do with a few quid - taps are expensive 😅.

Helleofabore · 06/11/2025 17:01

I would love to sign up too for the grift! I need some work done to the house.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 06/11/2025 17:07

Women's rights are now a 'grift' are they? 😂

I'm still waiting for my lesbian nun you know? It's been years now. But yes, sign me up! Who knew men invading your privacy, dignity, equality and humanity was lucrative?
