PoetryEmotion · 30/10/2025 12:56

As trans rights face increasing threat in the UK, Glamour honours nine of the community's most ground-breaking voices at this year's Women of the Year Awards. From fashion and music to charity and activism work, these trailblazers work tirelessly to empower, uplift and celebrate trans voices.

And naturally the article is written by Shon Faye 🙄

I don't understand how Faye can write this with a straight face given he used to write articles about how wonderful being a gay man was. Does he really want us to believe that he was just putting on an at? Come the fuck on.

witheringrowan · 31/10/2025 10:16

Oh Shon has been through numerous identities. At university within the space of one year he was asexual, straight, bi, "undefined but going to be a catholic priest so it's immaterial anyway".

His straight relationship culminated in a massive argument during which he trashed his girlfriend's room and set half her clothes on fire. A real champion of women's rights.

RoostingHens · 31/10/2025 10:19

One thing is abundantly clear - Glamour magazine doesn’t consider any on these men to actually be women.

Wtf exactly did he mean by ‘smell better’?Confused

I'd do my best not to even try to work that one out tbh.

No, just using them as clickbait.

I do actually agree with Willoughby here; its not 'activism' in any shape or form, it's purely prurient sensationalism.

I am guessing we smell like fish and those referred to by Faye don’t. I could be wrong, of course.

I need to hand in my Terf badge - despite being told, a couple of those people fooled me 😞 or at least I wasn't 100% sure..

However, my DH should be awarded his Terf badge - i said spot the transwoman and he said All of them!!!

Never under estimate the power of filters, airbrushing and strategic posing for example this is how Brianna wu looks on their X profile and the other is them in real life. I'll leave you to work out which is which.....

Magazine pictures have been photoshopped for decades. This photo is no exception.

I believe that there was a tweet about Wu entering a female toilet and a group of young women all commented how 'gorgeous' Wu was and they swapped chat over reapplying make up.

It really sounded like 'and everyone got up and clapped'. And again, from a reader perspective, sounds like yet another example of where male people simply cannot understand the fawning reaction.

Maya says: Put some respect on it, bitch! I look better than you. I dress better than you. I smell better than you. Please learn that and understand that. That’s what I would like for the dolls
i’m not sure this will help their plea

JellySaurus · 31/10/2025 14:10

I just caught the tail end of a TV interview with a trans-IDing man who said that the title was clickbait for some very thoughtful interviews with these men. (Obviously he didn’t call them men, but neither did I notice him using any pronouns at all.) Apparently, in these deeply insightful interviews the colonisers, sorry, women’s-award-winning men talked about how objectifying women’s bodies was a bad thing.

Such hypocrisy!

Seems to me that modifying men’s bodies in the attempt to resemble women’s bodies is a perfect example of objectifying women’s bodies.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 31/10/2025 14:15

@Theeyeballsinthesky thise filters are definitely doing some heavy lifting.

MabelsBeats · 31/10/2025 14:15

This is absolutely disgusting, that rag should hang its head in shame.

nicepotoftea · 31/10/2025 14:22

I think this might be getting more attention than it deserves, because people are assuming Glamour is still a glossy magazine, not a free website presumably funded by clicks.

MyCrushWithEyeliner · 31/10/2025 14:41

One of them says

‘I can do anything, and people feel very entitled to comment on the way I look or the way I act or the way I sound…’

Do they think that doesn’t happen to biological women?

And this delightful comment from someone else

‘Put some respect on it, bitch! I look better than you. I dress better than you. I smell better than you. Please learn that and understand that.‘

Paste has to sparkle -
Sparkle is all it has got,
But diamond is diamond
Whether it sparkles or not.

Someone posted JKR's tweet on AIBU:

"I grew up in an era when mainstream women’s magazines told girls they needed to be thinner and prettier. Now mainstream women’s magazines tell girls that men are better women than they are."

(Just to add: I do like it when this subject seeps out of FWR into AIBU)

Anyway, I'm pleased to see the Bricks stating their intent to 'protect the dolls'. That's nice solidarity.

I think it would be very easy to reverse the dolls crap.

What are dolls? Plastic pretend women with no genitals whose only personality is expressed by the outrageous outfits you can dress them up in.

tiddletoddles · 31/10/2025 09:18

I think people just need to understand, not only are we human, most of us are badder than everyone else. Put some respect on it, bitch! I look better than you. I dress better than you. I smell better than you. Please learn that and understand that. That’s what I would like for the dolls.

I just don't understand why I have to let a man have unbridled access to my spaces because he (allegedly) is better-looking than me. Apparently it's misogynistic to have the sole criterion of being a woman as being female, but saying someone is less of a woman because they're not attractive isn't misogynistic AT ALL.

I wish women would read stuff like this and wake the fuck up.

This is it isn’t it. Misogyny in a social media click bait time.

Men taking what women have and doing it insultingly or threatening if we say no.

Helleofabore · 01/11/2025 10:44

I still cannot see the name Munroe Bergdorf without also seeing Julie Burchill's 'Iona penis' quip.

One of the young people at my work came in today wearing a ‘protect the dolls’ t-shirt. I resisted the urge to say ‘what about trans men, usually smaller and weaker than ‘the dolls’

Jk rowlings response to this is being discussed on reddit.because they're obsessed with her) a transman has commented and so very nearly gets it. So close!

"Thank you. As a trans man, it is a bittersweet feeling to see so much vocal support for trans women and very little to protect trans men.

I want to take this opportunity to say trans men have the highest rates of IPV, DV, SA and Abuse across the entire queer community, with higher rates experienced by trans men of colour, disabled trans men, and other marginalized groups. Despite our high rates of victimization, we have extremely little support.

Eta: In the Canadian town where I live, trans women are expressly welcome at the local domestic violence shelter (as they should be). Trans men who have been victimized, however, are sent to the same support group as perpetrators of abuse, some of whom are there for court mandated sessions."

How can she not see this as the misogyny it is? Baffling.

Obviously the transwomen downplayed her concerns because , obviously, trans identified men are the most oppressed dontchaknow 🙄
