Such a horrific and appalling decision by the British courts. This entire decision is completely rooted in viewing her as a man, and completely erases her right to privacy about her trans status. And now she will placed in a men's prison for nearly 2 years, and have her life deeply disrupted by being forced to register as a sex offender.
Whenever I see TERFs use artificially inflated statistics about the rate of trans women jailed for sexual crimes I think of how many are women like her, or women forced to rely on survival sex work to survive. Horrific stuff from terf island, as usual 😞

The most telling comment was from the man confused by this judgment and it dawning on him that yes “trans women” are legally considered men.

So as soon as a TW transgresses a man, the courts immediately say 'she' is biologically male and dishes out a prison sentence.

Women however have been coerced to call male rapists women, in court, or told they haven't been raped at all like at that hospital because there were no 'men' present.

This is just like Sharon Davis says about sport - the men would simply not put up with it if some injustice was being done to them.

Also, no woman would be taken to court for not being female. This person is male and saying 'she', etc, this just proves the point, it's baffling doublespeak. They'll be lots of blood boiling over this though from the TRA side though no doubt.

Still clearly a male!!

Bet this gets recorded as a case of female sexual assault, even if he is going, absolutely appropriately, to a male prison.

Sadly, my experience tells me that complaining yo the BBC about this does nothing. It's disgraceful but they keep doing it.

I bet if the victim had been a lesbian women there would be zero chance of a conviction. She would just get a massive Internet pile on for misgendering and being a terf.

That's another point, why didn't the police arrested the victim for a hate crime against the transwoman? Can't help feeling a lesbian would have been arrested if she dared complain.

2/ Recorder Makepeace somehow thought it appropriate to say there were many other “convincing” images of Watkin and that the press deliberately chose photos where she wasn’t passing in order to mock the so-called victim. A male judge commenting on a woman’s appearance in open court is insane.

5/ Recorder Makepeace is not just complicit in this injustice. He made it clear that he views trans identities and sexual orientations as forms of deception and indicators of repeat offending. Despite knowing how vulnerable the true victim is, he chose to punch down on her. A truly nasty judge.

6/ Following the Supreme Court’s decision, bigots are enjoying their mask-off moment. There’s no point pretending you can’t critique judges personally, only their judgments. The judges are already taking their masks off; you don’t need to strip them further, just point out that they have no mask.

7/ I should note that this is essentially a case of retroactive criminalisation caused by Brexit. Bigots are only able to pull this trick because the spillover effect of EU law into criminal law no longer exists.

8/ Trans people “by definition” must be imprisoned, and “by definition” cannot be changed by non-custodial sentences. This is what the judge had in mind: state-sanctioned conversion and torture.

So much gross bigotry, transphobia in this story, it's disgusting. I hate this country so much right now. This comment from the judge stuck out, not just for being transphobic but i would also argue homophobic as well, suggesting that a man can't be straight if he's attracted to a trans woman.

Any man or woman who gives non consensual oral sex could be “jailed for giving a blow job”. The key? Consent.

Highlighting again that physical response to stimulus is not consent, in spite of the horrific claims of some paedophiles and rapists.

This is such an important judgement. I wonder if the outcome would have been the same if he'd had his penis removed surgically? Does this do away with the whole nonsense of the concept of "deadnaming"? Do trans people have to be honest about their biological sex with any potential partners to ensure informed consent? Great.

Yes, this has always been the law, I don’t know why these fools think it’s somehow a new thing. It has zero to do with the Equality Act.
