The itching has stopped.

Now who has a spare seat for me?

Ah good. The gerbils who run the spa had wondered why they had such a large stock of calamine but now they know. Sit where you want m’dear but on a washable throw please, that stuff is a bugger to get out of soft furnishing I’d imagine.

Of course, there was that time you went for the nudist look, you'd have benefited from a knitted jumper then! Plus it would have been safe to do your nails!

If im getting jumpered and painted then so are you @Bannedontherun

Consultant two week follow-up at 1015. Only three weeks late.

I'll let you know how I get on.

That looks all lovely and cosy, although the knitting whilst wearing is a twist.

I like the look of wool but actually touching it is a different story.

How about a non-wool yarn?

I may have on occasion fondled the weird chenille looking superized yarn at the Range.

I'll say no without my solicitor present.

Solidarity Boily, I'm also allergic to wool. Acrylic only in my yarn stash. With the occasional bit of cotton.

It's very annoying as I'll sometimes see something knitted that looks all beautiful and soft and I'll touch it in the hope it's acrylic (not on random people obviously... OK yes sometimes on random people) and be gutted that it feels like I've just rubbed my hand over loft insulation.

I have a friend who knitted me a pair of sufragette colours socks. I am determined to wear them as they were made with love but have to wear another pair of longer socks underneath so that no part of the knitted socks touch my delicate beetle skin.

My sister will sometimes arrive at mine wearing something that looks all soft and squishy and will issue a "Don't touch, you won't like it" warning as she enters!

It's a great burden, but one I bear with a huge amount of whinging.

All my squares are made from acrylic, apart from Swashy's squares. They were Merino wool.

Maybe I could eventually venture into suffragette socks in acrylic...

I’ve just discovered that apparently capybaras are this year’s fashionable animal.
obviously Clarice along with the others in our pool were trend setters.

Popped in once again to say hello. Hope @MyrtleLion's check up went OK.

I managed to get an appointment with the GP this morning. I have labyrith.., labyrinth... oh, some crap involving the inner ear, apparently. On top of everything else. (Moan, moan, whinge, whinge.)

Book me in to the sick bay, please, and rota in all the comforting furry animals.

Oh! Labyrinthitis!

Horrible. Makes you feel sick and dizzy even on flat ground. I really feel for you.

Spartipuss has brought a friend, and some guinea pigs and a cuddly cockapoo (??) have also shown up for cuddles with Rosie, a quokka and a capybara.

The consultant was only 30 minutes late.

The fusion has gone well and I can start to move to one crutch or a stick, with the expectation I'll be in normal shoes with a crutch or stick when I see him again in six weeks' time. I only need to elevate when I've walked a lot and I don't need the boot at night. I will still elevate at night for another week or so.

I can go back on HRT next Tuesday when I finish the anticoagulants and I can start taking ibuprofen immediately. Hooray for both - my skin is so dry it is creating sores where it is flaking off and most of my pain is from swelling.

It's all good news apart from his decision to leave because the workload is excessive. This is due to chronic underfunding. I don't see how this helps the department as he's doing the work of 2.5 people and will only make the patient/doctor ratio worse. Also there is more funding for the NHS, but maybe he just can't take it any more.

He will see me again in 6 weeks.

Boiledbeetle · 15/09/2025 13:14

@MyrtleLion that all sounds very positive.

Hurrah!

@Chersfrozenface ooh nasty, hope whatever they've given you to sort it does the trick.

Great news @MyrtleLion - apart from the consultant leaving due to overwork. I expect there is a lot of that. They need to recruit some more Bessies and treat them better.

@Chersfrozenface sorry to hear you have labyrinthitis. It is miserable. A top tip based on my dad's experience: always take your antidote treatment with you as you never know when you'll need it. He cockily thought he'd be fine without his. After being lifted out of a swimming pool by kindly strangers and having to crawl on his hands and knees along the high street because he could not walk home, he now knows better...

Only I can't do AI!

Well I think she was getting a bus, but your way sounds much more exciting!

That's good progress, Myrtle, keep going in that directionSmile What a shame you are losing the doc you have got to know and seem to get on well with.

Sorry to hear about the... thing beginning with labyrinth, Cher, Fate could at least have given you something that's easy to spell😒
I hope it gets better soon, and in the meantime, all the furry animals in any way connected with the Bluestocking are on 24/7 call to comfort youSmile

Capybaras are indeed a Thing at the moment, Errol - when I was looking online for little animals for the Bluestocking, I noticed a lot of cute representations of capys - soft toys, key rings, t-shirts, you name it.
The only realistic capy figures I could find were a bit big for the Bluestocking, they were actually the size of Big Wombat, so they only appeared in photos where they could be Far Away/Small compared with the gerbils.
I did think of trying to pass them off as Big Wombats, but of course I couldn't lie to my fellow Stockingers, and I also couldn't fool youGrin

Boiledbeetle · 15/09/2025 14:55

Maud's got one last night at K&Ps, then a trip to the post office to send the precious blankets, and then she'll be on her way home.

She's hopeful for lemon drizzle cake on her return.

Obviously takes after android.
