Terrible. We need look out for ourselves and where possible other women, given the police seem far too unreliable and there is rising misogyny is various forms- in this case apparently aggravated by racism..

I hate ascribing any other “motivation” to a rape than sinister fuckhead who thought he’d rip the knickers of a woman and utterly violate her in the most unimaginably horrific way for his own satisfaction.

CaroleLandis · 12/09/2025 15:58

How many other rapes have you posted about or have you just singled this one out ?

Women of all creeds and colours are raped every day. We need to prevent rape happening to EVERY woman.

SternJoyousBeev2 · 12/09/2025 16:04

Fingers crossed the police will find the thugs and they will be prosecuted by CPS.

ScholesPanda · 12/09/2025 16:16

Two posts in and we're already at whataboutery.

Every rape is awful. It's also awful that as racism rises, racially motivated rape rises. Not surprising though, given that in every conflict, war, genocide, ethnic conflict etc. men have used rape as a weapon.

Grammarnut · 12/09/2025 16:22

I am confused by the police treating this alleged rape as a 'hate crime'. Aren't all rapes hate crimes? Poor woman. I don't think it helps at all to call this alleged rape a hate crime - the crime is rape, calling it a 'hate' crime disguises and minimizes the nature of the assault as if rape on its own isn't that bad.

In what way am I shutting down anything? What is it that I've said that you disagree with?

Accusing us of “whatsboutery” 🙄

AgnesX · 12/09/2025 16:29

Poor woman. It shouldn't happen to any woman much less by some mean minded brainless shit because of her religious background (and presumably race).

These people fill me with impotent rage.

Us? Are you in a hive mind with some other posters?

And yes, if someone's reaction to a rape is 'what about the other rapes', I will call it whatboutery, because that's literally what it is.

But I'm not stopping you from saying anything, you knock yourself out. In fact, I'd love to hear your take on what has happened.

Sadly no. Rape is not automatically hate crime.
A hate crime is one motivated by hostility based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity.
There have been campaigns to get misogyny added to this list but so far not successful.

. Lesbians get raped in South Africa bc they are lesbian (happens here too sometimes, much less but does happen.)

In that case, it's important to recognise the misogyny but also homophobia involved.

The Rotherham victims were targeted partly bc they were white. That's important to know isn't it?

Native American women are very lilely to be sexually assaulted.

Saying there was a racial motive doesn't mean it wasn't misogynistic. It was BOTH.

One does not negate the other.

We have genuine immigrantion problems here, but we also have a racism increase, it's not all reasonable protest. As feminists, we can acknowledge all those facts and oppose all harm to women, while also being aware of aggravating factors.

I post about a lot of misogyny issues.

Why shouldn't I post about this one?

Ofc we need to stop rape happening to evety woman.

Part of that is acknowledging aggravating factors like corrective rape targeting lesbians, anti-white racism encouraging the rape of the Rotherham victims, and in this case, anti-Asian racism.

I can absolutely see where you're coming from, because rape is a crime of hate by definition and the basic reason behind all rapes is that men wish to violate women, children or other men in some way.

But personally I think it is important to understand the nuance behind that hate. So if there is a rise in racially motivated rape, it's probably due to an underlying rise in racial hatred, and that also needs to be tackled to solve the issue.

Same, with the grooming gangs- yes, any grooming is hateful and wrong; but the refusal to name the underlying reasons behind them- the views some communities had towards young white girls- meant they weren't tackled adequately and effectively were allowed to continue.

If you can't name your enemy, you can't deal with it, Iyswim?

Exactly. People on here can understand why the anti-white motive for the Rotherham & Rochdale gangs was important.

It's the same principle here : race made this poor woman more vulnerable.

Or one can be a feminist
and view all rape as the most violent and obscene violation of a woman’s mind, body and soul and that only the very very harshest of punishments should be applied. In any and ALL cases. The end.

NotMyNigelFarage · 12/09/2025 16:52

Thing is, Sikhs are generally peaceful and integrate well, so the attackers are likely to be staunch racists who don't like anybody that's isn't white. I don't think I've ever heard anybody complain about Sikh immigration because generally they start businesses and work hard.

I don't understand why you're putting your statement in opposition to mine. I'm a feminist and I agree rape is the worst crime apart from murder.

Ofc ALL rapes need v harsh punishment.

Saying that aggravating motives like sexuality, race and disability should be taken into account does not negate that. It simply means we should be aware of different motives so we can stamp them out and be aware of groups who may be particularly at risk (which can obvs change over time)

I'm glad you have rage. I have spent the last few days filled with rage and fury, which I was okay with as a response. This, and one other horrific racist attack posted in a group I'm in for healthcare workers have sent me down to despair, hopelessness and tears.

I will be angry again, but right now I am so broken that there are 'humans' out there who not only chose rape, but chose it because they are that filled with that much hatred and disconnection from someone because their skin is a different colour.

This was planned. One of them wore gloves FFS. God knows what else they've done to other people before, and will do again.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 12/09/2025 16:54

Rape is a deliberate act of male violence, driven by entitlement and impulse, attempts to racialize rape distort its core truth, it is not about race, it is about power and sexual domination.

We've got to stop allowing ourselves to be divided by race, class etc, these divisions only weaken our collective resistance, we must stand together, and not allow ourselves to be divided into subsets of women, we should be united by the shared reality of our vulnerability.

I agree with this.

It's like when people say "oh, but it's all male violence". They're not wrong in a way, but it would be kinda stupid targeting middle class white men from Kensington with an initiative aimed at tackling Islamic extremism.

Exactly. Sikhs are not free of problems within the community (there was a sexual abuse issue reported a lot around 2013), or with other religions. But generally things are alright & as you say they integrate well

Sadly, if someone really hates women and/or particular ethnic/religious groups, that won't stop them...

Hopefully as you say this attack is an isolated incident.
