I loved her in THGTTG.

I mean, Trillian marrying Dr Who - that's pretty hoopy, now I come to think about it!

Backtracking a bit, are you? Hormone treatment is medicalisation.

They're very proud about treating children:

https://www.anne.health/articles/response-to-telegraph-puberty-blockers-august-2025

Well, of course they're proud. It's founded and run by Susie Green who used to be the CEO of Mermaids (still awaiting the result of the Charity Commission investigation into this troubled charity, aren't we?). She took her 12-year-old son to New York to get him onto cross-hormones and she then got him over to Thailand so he could have genital surgery on his 16th birthday, the earliest age you could have it done then (they changed the law subsequently as a result).

SG has spoken repeatedly about her poor little toddler son choosing to play with dolls, his father's horror and outrage, how she suspected his toy and clothing preferences might mean he was gay, how she acquiesced when her husband took all the dolls away even though it made her son wretchedly unhappy, and how her son 'knew' from an early age he was really a girl. Once she decided her allegiance was to her son, not her husband, she took this tiny child at his word and started buying him clothes from the girls' department, and putting him on a path to being a lifelong medical patient.

A more insightful person might have pondered how this kid had been told from his earliest years that he was doing boyhood wrong, that he was behaving like a girl, and that he needed to change so he would grow up into a man (presumably like his father), and, very understandably, he didn't want that. He wanted to just be himself. He could have been a little boy who liked playing with dolls and dressing up. He might have grown up to be a gay man. So what? What he needed was parents who accepted him for who he was and always had his back, with no need for drugs and surgery to make him a crude facsimile of something he couldn't be, with all sorts of health problems waiting in the wings.

Ever since, she has done her level best to put as many other children as possible on the same path. I could not despise that woman more.

Exactly. My nephew was like SG's son but he was allowed to play with whatever he wanted and he grew up to be a gay man. I have no doubt he would have been caught up in the trans movement if he was at school today.

There's a significant difference between someone talking about something in a podcast versus issuing a press release or making a post about it. That was the only point I was making. Yes podcasts are public, but you end up with inane articles and threads like this declaring "vaguely famous person says you should only have polka dot bedding" when the celeb may have just said in a podcast that they like or only buy polka dot bedding. Yes if you say something in a podcast it becomes in the public domain, but crap journalists and MN people turn side comments into entire articles and threads.

She literally "announced" it. Verbally. On an audio transmission. To the masses.

She invaded her own children's privacy.

"Oh noes but then somebody wrote it down!! Which doesn't count! You are inane!"

Call us "inane" all you like, but we'll continue discussing important issues like trans rights activism and its effects on children.

It Is always strange how people come onto the feminism sex and gender board to declare how safeguarding and protecting children from harmful ideologies is ‘boring’. Sadly we have too often seen why such individuals wish to ignore child protection….

How was I caught out? You're the one with a lack of reading comprehension that required a follow up post just to ensure you didn't come to false conclusions. Probably part of the Gammon army who puts up union flags upside down

She didn't publicly announce it. She spoke about it in a podcast and that comment has been picked up and written about. It's very different to her doing a post or tweet announcing it.

Speaking on a publicly available audio transmission is announcing. HTH.

I work in child protection. I've never had a case of a trans person posing a risk to a child. The vast majority of paedophiles I have dealt with are white men, none have been asylum seekers or refugees. And yes I'm a feminism, and actively involved in work to protect women and girls. But sure come on here and post your twaddle that isn't backed up by any data, talk in the echo chamber and avoid any critical thinking.

HelenaSorrows · 05/09/2025 17:56

Why are you still going back over things?

An 'announcement ' is a formal public statement about a fact, occurrence, or intention. It is different to stating something in a podcast. Georgia didn't make an announcement. She said something in a podcast that's been picked up by the gutter journalists and those who have some weird obsession with her family. So no she didn't announce anything. If you're unhappy about that definition take it up with the Oxford Dictionary. I'm sure your terfy friends will do you a crowdfunder

Just thought it was worth going back to the post that you accuse me of not being able to understand.

That is very concerning - both that you work in child protection and appear to have identified a set of sacred castes.

You are no kind of feminist if you believe that women are defined by their adherence to oppressive gendered expectations.

You are the only person on this thread who has conflated trans people with paedophiles.

Clearly unable to understand ONS data either which shows men who identify as trans are five times more likely to be sex offenders than other men. (Publically available data that I sure PP will be eager to look up)

SouthWamses · 05/09/2025 18:09

Just to be clear - it was the last census you need to look at if you are struggling,

Statistically 'transwomen' are at least the same risk as other men.

I guarantee you, you don't have data to refute that.

So you treat them as you would treat other men for safeguarding purposes.

TheKeatingFive · 05/09/2025 18:48

As for the Tennants, they would do ANYTHING for attention, with Georgia seemingly the worst offender.

I feel very sorry for their children.

So you go by your own personal experience?

I haven't personally been burgled but I still lock the doors.

Trans women are not some sacred caste of men with all the bad bits scrubbed out. They are still men, socialised as men to get what they want. Most don't have surgery. Many are from angry and violent backgrounds. Dylan Mulvaney is not representative.

So you are in child protection and your judgement criteria is identity not behaviour.

Ok then.

If they are in child protection I find it even more troubling that they aren't open to the possibility that their own prejudices might miss a safeguarding problem.

The starting point in safeguarding is to not make those kind of assumptions...
