I had my suspicions when CNN kept referring to the shooter as ‘they’ and said as much to DH.

Lo and behold, a crossdressing man called ‘Robin’ (formerly Robert) Westman.

still up late after another full on freshers week event?
Carbs and alka seltzer are your friends.

Good advice, I think @Crazytimes41 should drink plenty of water too - it helps unclag the brain cells.

Yet out of over 3500 mass shootings in the USA only 5 were committed by trans people. That’s 0.17%.

tje focus on the trans community is utterly warped and crazy . Such is the propaganda of the far right. Imagining focussing on just 0.17% of the population of mass shooters. It defies logic

www.politifact.com/article/2025/sep/09/trans-people-mass-shootings-gun-violence/

But only eight school shootings in the last year. Which puts the percentage trans much much higher.

Crazytimes41 · 15/09/2025 08:36

Is that the best you can do dear and avoid answering the question? 😂😂🤡

Is the best you can do is pretend that purposefully setting out to shoot innocent children is in anyway comparable to a gangland shooting?

DeanElderberry · 15/09/2025 08:38

I have limited knowledge of mass shootings because I am lucky enough to live in a country with strict gun controls, but I do know that if when a discussion is about shootings in general and a shooting that killed two people in particular, repeatedly posting statistics about shootings that killed four or more people SCREAMS bad faith argument.

I guess the most accurate thing would be to look at trans people per head of population of the US and compare it to the number of trans shooters per number of shooters than just using simple numbers which tell you very little.

Crazytimes41 · 15/09/2025 08:41

What on earth are you talking about dear?

the vast majority of mass shootings whether they be school or in general are carried out by cis men not trans people.

are you aware of this dear? 😂🤡😂🤡

Crazytimes41 · 15/09/2025 08:42

Indeed abc the number of trans people in the US percentage wise is greater than the number of shooters.

thank you for making my point

DeanElderberry · 15/09/2025 08:42

Never mind first language and basic biology, can you count?

Also it seems the stat is about the former, but the second part of your post is about the latter. But when were those five? Is it a recent phenomenon that shooters are identifying as trans? Also it seems the study is about school shootings (school mass shootings?), but the second half of your post appears to be about mass shootings generally.

Oooh!! Are we gonna get the clownfish article?? I haven’t seen that for years. I love that one!

I prefer the song.

DeanElderberry · 15/09/2025 08:45

Mass shootings that kill more than four people is not the same thing as shootings, so the statistic you keep citing is irrelevant.

Crazytimes41 · 15/09/2025 08:46

Yes dear / obviously you cannot. Only 0.17% of mass footing were carried out by trans people.

approximately 1% of the USA population count themselves as trans.

Hope this helps your maths dear

According to this website, there are about 2.8 million people over 13 in the US who identify as trans.

https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/publications/trans-adults-united-states

  • Over 2.8 million adults (aged 18 and older) and youth (aged 13 to 17) identify as transgender in the United States, or 1.0% of those aged 13 and older.
  • Among U.S. adults, 0.8% (over 2.1 million people) identify as transgender. Among youth aged 13 to 17 in the U.S., 3.3% (about 724,000 youth) identify as transgender.

Total population of the USA is about 340 million. I'll do the sums later if nobody else does it first. But I think we can be certain that a higher percentage of trans people than women commit these crimes.

Perhaps English isn't your first language. It's considered quite rude and sounds patronising to call someone you don't know 'dear', especially if you do so repeatedly. Just a wee tip!

Old thread resurrected and then derailed .

The subject of the thread is news media disinformation/ideological capture as evidenced by a male perpetrator being referred to as if he were female in the report of this tragedy.

Edited for error.

Either way, I think we can conclude with 100% certainty that it is only possible to analyse statistics if accurate data is gathered in the first place.

We had the one with the magic country-of-residence-detecting hat a week or so back who kept calling people 'honey' so it is either a new technique for being annoying or a form of tourettes. I think I know which.

There are about 170 million men in the USA and about 2.8 million trans people, so it's very unlikely that trans people would commit as many crimes of any sort as men.

Let me try and put the concept of statistics in language you might understand.

Imagine a terrible fatal illness. It's reported this illness killed 50% of people over 80. Everyone over 80 panics.

What isn't reported is that there are only 8 people over 80 so it has killed 4 of them.
What isn't reported is that 100 people 40-50 died but as there are 1000 of them the illness only kills 10% so it looks less percentage wise, but numbers wise more have died.

My point being basic numbers and statistics can show very different things using the same data depending on how it's presented.

That's the point was making re: looking at trans person head of population and per shooters rather than just numbers.

Men are men no matter how they identify. Male pattern behaviours remain even when a man is presenting or 'identifying as' a woman.
