Sex categories relate to sexual reproduction.

Plants and animals reproduce in various different ways. Snails are simultaneous hermaphrodites and have both male and female reproductive systems. Clown fish are sequential hermaphrodites.

Humans cannot change sex. Any scientist that tells you a human can change sex is having you on, or is being mealy mouthed and is actually referring to something other than sex.

None of that has anything to do with this thread, which is about accuracy in reporting.

Most posters on this site have limited knowledge of mass shootings because they come for the UK, but we can see that the reason that America has so many mass shootings is access to guns, and most mass shootings are carried out by men. The Minnesota shooter had access to guns and was a man, and there was no reason for media to not report his sex in a straightforward way.

Why do people with male reproductive systems commit so many mass shootings? I don't know, but the statistics make their sex relevant.

Just to point out, the majority of mass shootings in the states are connected to drugs and gangs. Purposefully setting out to shoot innocent children is something completely different.

Yet out of over 3500 mass shootings in the USA only 5 were committed by trans people. That’s 0.17%.
