Where do people think the transvestites have gone?

I remember a time when a distinction was made between transexuals and transvestites, and there was a recognition that the latter category often cross dressed for fetishistic reasons.

But now everyone is just trans. So regarding those who advocate for any man who says he is trans to access women's single sex spaces, where do they think all the transvestites have gone?

Do other people dress up in your office? Have you ever had someone come in dressed like a cowboy or a vampire or dressed like a penguin?

In what way for you "enjoy" presenting as female? Do you enjoy it more when you are with other people or do you prefer to do it by yourself?

Lots of women love dressing up in ballgowns and jewels. Lots of women love wearing little shorts and a bikini top. They enjoy being looked at when they dress like that. But they don't dress like that in the office, because there's a written or unwritten office dress code. @ShadesOfoptimism is taking advantage of the transwomen are women loophole to breach the dress code, that's all. Even if you believe in trans, he isn't trans.

Are far as I know I am the only one, at least in the office I am based at, as for why do I enjoy it, I just enjoy wearing a skirt/dress, heels etc in the same way that other people might enjoy wearing particular clothes.

When I started doing this (8 years ago) I discussed it with HR and they were fine with it provided I didn’t wear anything ‘over the top’ for want of a better phrase, which I don’t (obviously). There isn’t any hard and fast rules op how one should dress in the office.

I'm all for expanding the bandwidth of male expression, and any man dressed anyhow is safe next to me. I wouldn't suit a frock myself, but look bang tidy in my kilts.

A transvestite is not the same as a man with AGP. The first wants to wear women's clothes (this may or may not be a sexual fetish). The second is sexually aroused by having breasts / a "vagina". I learned this from Az Hakeem - see on YouTube. He ran a gender dysphoria clinic for the NHS.

It is a progressive condition which starts off with an impulse, but then gradually starts to enlarge into a full blown obsession. 'Female' and 'feminisation' becomes the object of desire. It is the same with pornography. The more you indulge, the more you need ever stronger and more extreme stimulus to create the desired effect or state of arousal and satisfaction.

There are unspoken rules, though, especially when it comes to women who want to be taken seriously.

You are not being fully honest. Why would a man enjoy wearing extreme items of culturally associated 'femininity'? What is that particular pleasure?
I'm a woman and have not worn heels since I was 14 years old. They are deeply uncomfortable items of attire and add nothing to my being female or feeling confident in that particular state of being.

A google search about where to buy tights brought up Mumsnet, and I thought I would see if there were any posts on crossdressing which brought me to this post and I wanted to add my view on crossdressing and why I do it.

John Lewis is my 'go to' option. I like them thick, black and woolly. Make sure to always to buy a larger size than you imagine you need. There is nothing worse than a hanging crotch.

You're using / abusing the trans loophole. A key (but generally unspoken, because it shouldn't need to be said) part of the office dress code is that men don't wear women's clothes or jewellery or makeup. Women don't wear men's clothes either.

In case this hasn't been posted yet. This doctor ran an NHS gender dysphoria clinic for over 10 years. It was open to all. He found that a very large number of the people who came were transvestites. They were men attracted to wearing women's clothes. They did not consider themselves to be women and didn't want to be women. Interestingly, this wasn't a sexual fetish for all of them. Some of them were attracted to wearing women's clothes, without getting a sexual kick out of it. He says at some point, maybe in this video, that he saw a lot of men who basically dressed up as their mothers. This was because they had some kind of a trauma issue related to their mothers. He said this was almost always confirmed by them during psychotherapy.

If this isn't a male sexual fetish, where are all the disturbed women dressing up as their fathers?

Edited

I prefer thermal leggings. M&s have them for about £15 and worn with my walking boots they look just like tights and I can wear them under a tunic.
Or the range do heat holder tights. They're not bad either.

Tadpolesinponds · 27/11/2025 21:17

@RogueFemale I didn't get the impression that he saw many or possibly any women at his gender dysphoria clinic! So do you think that cross dressing is always a sexual fetish? And why do you think so many cross dressing men dress to look like their mothers or (let's face it) their wives?

Barbie222 · 27/11/2025 21:32

It’s the elephant in the room really - until the trans community are open about the fetish aspect and call it out for what it is, they’re going to continue to struggle hugely with their PR.

Why do they dress like their wives? Or why did they marry women who look like their fetish?

I am a crossdresser/transvestite/gender fluid person, I really don’t have a label for myself, I just enjoy presenting as female (which I do in public at the office once a week), I really find it difficult to put into words why I do it, it’s just something I really enjoy and get a deep sense of satisfaction from (and it’s nice to have lovely coloured hair instead of my standard grey and receding hairline)

I wonder how much is clothing envy? As in, women get the colourful outfits whilst men get Yet Another Grey Suit.

Snag are popular with the Style And Beauty regulars. They come in all the colours. For work, avoid the fishnet and mock garter styles because they are for nights out only.

Don't buy heavy deniers in supermarket own-brand or otherwise cheap makes because they itch and itch.

When doing so, do you use the male or female toilets?

(1) Why do you think the people who love dressing up for halloween don't do it once a week in the office?
(2) Do you worry that people look at you and assume that you are doing it for sexual reasons (autogynephilia or transvestic fetishism)?

"presenting as female" 🙄

Female is clothes and makeup and tucked-in bollocks of course 🤮
