Women's 'Private Spaces'

1000 replies

Howseitgoin · 26/08/2025 03:45

Clearly private spaces for women are considered a necessity by many due to a propensity for male sexual violence. Given this threat is much greater by orders of magnitude in the work place as opposed to public bathrooms, isn't it inconsistent not to demand private spaces there as well?
Thoughts?

Most young females don't have a problem with shared bathrooms. Are you suggesting they are really "porn addled" men?

None of the young women I know are happy to have men in the toilets but they may not yet have the confidence to say so. Sadly they are learning that in the face of male aggression the safest thing to do is keep quiet and get out asap.

"Circling back to the actual opening post...OP what do you mean by private spaces in the workplace, pls?"

Should males & females be separated at work or always have 'chaperones' for consistency’s sake.

OK. Thank you.

TheaBrandt1 · 26/08/2025 07:28

Yes just go away. The court has spoken on this - it’s over. “No debate” - but the other way round.

Howseitgoin · 26/08/2025 07:28

"You are talking out your arse and deliberately twisting things to suit yourself."

You don't seem to understand how evidence works. Anecdotal experiences don't count as hard statistical peer reviewed data.

Provide proof to support your claims

FutureMarchionessOfVidal · 26/08/2025 07:30

‘Staunch feminist’ 🤡

I really do find it astonishing that a small group of men are still so fanatically determined to ensure that women should have NOWHERE private. No privacy when peeing! No privacy when undressing! No privacy when vulnerable! No space to call your own!

NOTHING away from men.

it’s like they really can’t tell when they’ve overwhelmingly lost an argument in the public sphere.

This ‘gotcha’ is so awful it’s actually funny.

But sinister too of course - when will this tiny group of women-haters finally give up? When our daughters have no privacy? When they are excluded from the workplace (the threat here)? When they can’t have bank accounts or use public transport? When they can’t say no to sex?

So much hatred for our rights and privacy and dignity. For the right just to say ‘no’ to men.

The fight for women’s dignity is never over. Misogyny lives on.

Howseitgoin · 26/08/2025 07:30

"None of the young women I know"

Anecdotal experiences doesn't qualify as statistical data.

And claiming the youth of today are 'shy' is a hot one…😂

I do hope in your workplace @Howseitgoin you’re able to conduct a conversation with more ability than you’ve presented so far in your engagements on MN and deliver positive organisational outcomes rather than pirouetting around talking gibberish

How did your last appraisal go?

floormops · 26/08/2025 07:30

I remember trying to explain to a man about women in prisons and the risks of being locked up with men. His view was that women get raped anyway, so why bother to try to reduce the risk.
Sometimes it just isn't worth arguing with stupid.

Howseitgoin · 26/08/2025 06:04

I'm not referring to bathrooms in the work place. I am referring specifically to being alone with men in the workplace. Nor am I suggesting there should be separate work spaces. I'm simply questioning the inconsistency in approaches to being in the company of men given the risk factor is present in both scenarios & significantly more at work.

Can't have it both ways?

Do you routinely pull your pants down when alone with male colleagues in the office?

Howseitgoin · 26/08/2025 07:32

"And your evidence is trust me I am typing...."

Doesn't sound like you read well I provided researched links.

"Have you considered the concept of dignity? I don’t feel uncomfortable photocopying when men are around but I do feel uncomfortable pulling my pants down when men are around. I really, really don’t want men around when I’m dealing with period stuff. I imagine this is typical."

Have you considered the concept of 'locked cubicles'?

As you know (I presume you are a sentient adult despite your difficulty expressing yourself clearly) locked cubicles have to be easily broken into in the case of health emergencies, which for physiological reasons are more likely to happen inside locked cubicles than anywhere else. The locks secure you against casual intrusions, not against the first responder called by a concerned colleague who has spotted your collapsed body through the under-door gap.

I also don't want a grunting masturbator in the next-door cubicle, or a phone stuck under the gap, or a man looming over me when I'm washing blood off my hands.

Locked cubicles are often flimsy with gaps above and below, they provide a visual screen, nothing more (no sound filter). When you come out you are in a small enclosed space and have to walk past whoever else is in there to get to the door. You clearly have zero understanding or empathy for women.

Address the rest of my post - which of the first two options I gave is it that you are arguing for.

Howseitgoin · 26/08/2025 07:33

There's this thing called 'locked cubicles'…

I'm broadcasting from Australia where our laws beg to disagree.

That the UK government made a politically advantageous decision doesn't make it ethical.

In Australia they don't believe women have the right to exist in a way that doesn't include the likes of the fragrant Roxane Tickle, so much like our "feminist" friends in America, you need to sit down, shut up, and let the TERFs of TERF Island demonstrate how feminism is supposed to be done.

Absolutely with one hand. In mum's basement. With Andrew Tate videos playing on the computer monitor in the background.

"Still waiting for you to name one benefit to women of allowing males into their single sex spaces."

It's called 'equality'. As in access to the 'the work place'

Men have access to men's toilets.

Covered by the H&S workplace regs, pal.

I provided the links already.

No you certainly did not! You provided absolutely nothing. Certainly nothing that says the majority of young females want males in our spaces when we're washing out blood-stained underwear at the sink or escaping a male.

Merrymouse · 26/08/2025 07:37

Howseitgoin · 26/08/2025 07:26

We use 'bathroom' because 'toilet' is considered vulgar.

So you can’t even bring yourself to talk about toilets, but don’t understand why people want privacy from the opposite sex when they use a public toilet?

That is very odd.
