What would you actually do if you saw a transperson in the wrong toilet/changing room for their sex?

I've been pondering this ever since the FWS decision and since I saw an obviously male transperson using the ladies at a service station. I initially froze and wanted to say something, but all my Britishness and female social conditioning made me just mutter under my breath and walk away in disgust.

What would you do?

What have you done?

What is the right thing to do?

They don't belong there, according to the law.

Toilets, ignore as there are cubicles with locks. In gym (no cubicles), I’d tell a member of staff.

Did they threaten/harm you in any way?

The males in my life wouldn’t threaten or harm any woman I’m sure (as much as you can know a person). They should rightfully be called out if they went into a space just for women. Same as trans women. Who are also male.

Ahh Chris, here you are. Wondered how long it would take you to turn up.

As has been explained to you time and time again, you have no legal right to be in women's toilets. I know it's tough to hear, but you just need to pull on your big boy pants and get on with it.

I'm a woman.

Newsflash- More women are supportive of trans rights than men are.

Can you back up that ‘newsflash’. Evidence isn’t a strong point when it comes to TRA’s.

Look at the overall figures though. Pretty much every demographic, including women, say "No" on almost every issue.

I'd mind my own business and do what I went in there for.

No you're not. Remember we've had that conversation. We've also talked about the importance of facts not feelz - the screenshot above serves as a good reminder for you.

If they’re minding their own business and getting on with what they need to do eg using the loo or getting changed I’d just do the same. I’ve been at venues with unisex toilets and used them with no issue.

The women’s toilets are not meant to be unisex.

LeftieRightsHoarder · 24/08/2025 21:46

BeLemonNow · 24/08/2025 19:20

How would I know if it was a transwoman or a cis man?

First I would ask them to fill in a short survey on their gender identity.

A transwoman is a ‘cis’ man! There’s not some special kind of man that isn’t male. So it makes no difference what he claims to be.

FattyMcFattyArse · 24/08/2025 21:52

moggly · 24/08/2025 21:15

I'd probably take a photo, share it on Twitter with details of where and when this intrusion took place, and hope my tweet goes viral enough to get a response from whoever runs the facility.

I think you would get accused of harassment and of breaking some laws if you did that?

But we’re not talking about unisex toilets or spaces are we? Do keep up dear.

Mermoose · 24/08/2025 21:58

I would freeze and then I would leave. Just like I did when I found a bogstandard man in the changing room.
In that case I told the receptionist there was a man in the women's changing room. I wouldn't do the same if it was a trans identified man because I'm in Ireland. In Britain I probably would. Here, I just don't use the gym any more.

So why are men not being called names, threatened with rape, violence or murder? If men are so transphobic, why are only women threatened and harraseed. I mean, it couldn’t be because males with a trans identity are cowards who pick on weaker more vulnerable people is it?

ps women are not more supportive of trans rights, we’re just scared if the consequences of saying no to men.

I hope anyone who takes non-consensual photos of others in a toilet earns a place on the sex offender register.

How do you know they are a trans women? I am over 6ft tall with very short hair- it worries me that people could now think I am trans women. How do I prove I was born a women??

Edited

Many things other than height and hairstyle reveal a person’s sex. I’m pretty sure I’ve never mistaken a woman for a man for more than a moment. I’m sure a woman over 6ft tall with short hair would only have to speak if anyone questioned her.

Oh yes. I agree. Of course by “anyone” you do mean anyone don’t you? So if say a male with a trans identity was taking pictures of non consenting women, you’d be all for him being sent to male prison and put on the sex offenders register wouldn’t you?

GarlicLitre · 24/08/2025 22:08

The last time I did, I said "I'm going to the Gents next door", and did 😆

I'm not claiming this as clever or effective in any way at all, it was an instant reaction. Both loos were otherwise empty, for anyone wondering. And the guy was built like a storage unit.

LeftieRightsHoarder · 24/08/2025 22:13

EagerLemonHiker · 24/08/2025 20:19

And so I was challenged by a JL employee at the till - she told me he was very offended by my response. I said well I was extremely offended by his presence and reiterated that I had not been rude I had just stated my view that men should not be in the ladies changing room. Again - FFS!

That’s outrageous, Eager. I don’t know if I’d have the courage to challenge a man in a women’s space, as he could obviously be dangerous.

But I would put the assistant straight about the law. And complain to management too.

What would I do? Mind my own fucking business and get on with my hand washing.

Her privacy would be her business.

It would be evidence of a male intruder in a female space. You can't get put on the sex offender register for collecting evidence.

ScrollingLeaves · 24/08/2025 22:13

Who’s privacy? The woman entering or the man breaking the law by being there?

Cailleach1 · 24/08/2025 22:24

Evidence of a man in the act of transgressing women’s boundaries. James Esses has an interesting line on this. It is in connection with that man who won an Edinburgh comedy award taking a photo of himself on a toilet. There is a sanitary bin beside him, so presume it is the women’s toilets.

”The men who seek access to women’s spaces are desperately mentally unwell, utterly depraved or full-blown misogynists.” writes James Esses.

I must admit looking at a picture of a man (denying that he is of his sex) beside the sanitary bin brings to my mind the type of disgusting fetishes some men have. I think ‘gross’ is apt.

Take your passport to the toilets I guess otherwise certain people on this thread will be taking photos of you if you share a bathroom with them.

As I've said many times the unhealthy obsession with trans people harms all women.

I meant the real woman’s privacy, not the intruding male’s.

How do you know that everyone else is OK with it? There are probably other women there who really dislike it, some might even be struggling because it triggers all their trauma responses due to things in their past they'd rather not talk about. But none of them are going to complain, for the same reason that you don't complain.

It's not fair, it's not right, and it IS harmful.

All these fucking DEI grifters should be sacked if they are going about deliberately breaching the Equality Act to the detriment of their female workforce. DEI my arse. There's no diversity, equality or inclusion about it. It's just special privileges for the rainbow people and everyone else can put up and shut up. Nothing equal about that.

This.

With bells on.
