So not happy with the puberty blockers ban in the UK and frustrated by Wes Streeting closing her planned loophole she found a new one and has been arranging for parents to take their kids abroad to get prescriptions of puberty blockers injections and testosterone for under 16s. The government has said its going to stop the practice but hasn't said how.

Is there also no such thing as a gay child?

And if not, how could a child know they are gay but not know that they are trans?

Leaving aside how soon children experience sexual attraction, you should be able to see that you aren’t comparing similar things.

A human can feel attraction to another human being of either sex.

A human cannot change sex.

I can explain what sexual attraction is

You will not be able to objectively explain what gender identity is in a way that does not rely on sexist tropes (I am confident about this because nobody has yet done so).

Perhaps most importantly, people don’t openly suggest that a gay child needs drugs or surgery.

Being attracted to a particular sex is not the same as disliking or rejecting the stereotypes associated with your sex.

HTH.

Dr Louise Irvine, the co-chairman of the Clinical Advisory Network on Sex and Gender, said the prescribing of “puberty blockers for the purpose of preventing normal puberty in gender-questioning children is banned in the UK for good reason – they risk serious harm and have no evidence of benefit”.

Surely facilitating medical harm and helping parents procure the means for child abuse is enough to get her arrested?

Being trans is not a sexual orientation. You are (probably deliberately, and in bad faith) conflating two separate things, so your question makes no sense

LibertyKnickers · 24/08/2025 17:12

Surely those can't be photos of real kids on the Anne Health site? Would parents ever allow their child's image to be used so publicly, especially for a commercial purpose—say, if they were to receive a discount on the service? That would be totally irresponsible!

Oh wait a minute. There's something wrong with that inference but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Most of these so called ‘trans children’ ARE gay!! They can’t know they’re ‘trans’ because no one is born in the wrong body, sex cannot be changed and is binary and immutable. How can you read an article like that and not be absolutely horrified about what these disgusting people are doing to children? Irreversible and unnecessary medical interventions that leave them with reduced or no sexual function, the removal of young girl’s healthy breasts, and lifelong health issues.

https://www.anne.health/profiles/#harri

'Harri, 10 year old non-binary person
Treatment history: Harri socially transitioned 3 years ago and is still exploring their gender identity.'
Process:

  1. After looking at membership options, Harri’s parents/guardians clicked the link to join Anne Health. They paid the £200 setup fee and received a link to complete the patient questionnaire with Harri via email.
  2. A team member reviewed their questionnaire and recommended they choose our Lite Membership option. Harri’s parents/guardians were then sent a link to pay the first monthly subscription.
  3. At this point, Harri’s parents/guardians were allowed full access to the team to discuss possibilities for Harri’s future options and for any other general queries.
  4. They can book a chargeable blood test at any point during this time to check Harri's hormone levels. The clinical team can review these tests and advise if Harri has started puberty.
  5. Harri’s parents can choose to move Harri’s membership to the Standard Membership as needed by letting the team know through email, webchat or a phone call.'

So a seven year old 'transitioned'?

JFC I have no words for this, it’s absolutely despicable.

Yes. A child with a nascent or developing same sex attraction will not be (should not be, legally or morally) acting on that. So there will be no real material impact of a child identifying as LGB.

A child identifying as T, however, is instantly a target for people like those running 'Anne health'.

Drugs that are banned in the UK for children, surgery that is also not approved for children, the slowing or halting of development, unknown health risks - these are the risks faced by and child who is 'gender questioning'. Because people make money out of selling them to vulnerable children.

The NHS uses 'gender questioning', and the Cass Report explicitly did not use the term 'trans child'.

MatronPomfrey · 25/08/2025 13:23

Taking children abroad for this “treatment” needs to be made illegal. It needs to be viewed in the same way as taking girls abroad for FGM.

I'm not convinced that encouraging a child to label themselves is a good idea in general.
However an older child will begin to realise that they might be gay if they find themselves consistently attracted to members of the same sex.
How does a child 'know they are trans'? Maybe you can tell us

But answer came there none

moto748e · 25/08/2025 14:57

Funny that the Torygraph never misses a chance for a dig at the evil EU.

But yes, of course, appalling woman.

Why would I tell you when lots of trans people themselves have done so and you lot just ignore them?

If you want to know how trans kids know they are trans, maybe ask the many trans adults who say they knew they were trans (even if they didn’t have the word for it) when they were children.

The fact that you don’t understand what a trans identity is doesn’t mean trans kids don’t exist.

Trans adults exist. And lots of them explain that there was not some point in adulthood when they ‘became’ trans. None of your lack of understanding means that these kids simply don’t exist.

PlanetJanette · 25/08/2025 15:59

You might be absolutely insistent that trans kids do not receive the slightest bit of affirmation. They still exist.

Of course it makes sense.

People know who they are from a young age, often far younger than they have capacity (or desire) to do anything about it. They still exist.

MissKomodoDragonsBrunch · 24/08/2025 14:42

And whilst you tell us how a child knows they are trans, maybe you explain why that is any different to a child knowing they are a dinosaur or a digger - because children might “know” they are something they can’t possibly be, but it is not reality.

The difference is that trans people exist. This is an objective fact.

Every trans adult was once a child. That is an objective fact.

And a great many trans adults describe their experiences as children - both the experience of gender dysphoria and the identity that accompanied it.

Trans kids exist.

You can hold whatever view you want about what support or treatment should be offered to them. None of that wipes out their existence.

SionnachRuadh · 25/08/2025 16:09

It's very important to some people's self-image that the "trans kid" exists.

I know people who have transitioned their child, and nothing I've seen suggests to me that the "trans kid" is a more real phenomenon than the proverbial vegan cat. It's very obvious whose idea the whole thing is.

We don't ignore trans people when they explain about why they are trans.

Take Andrea Long Chu for example, who said that sissy porn made him trans.

Review: Females by Andrea Long Chu | Louise Perry | The Critic

We all know that for many of these men, it's a sexual fetish. What we don't understand is why children would be saying they're trans.

I'm sure you're not going to suggest that, like Andrea Long Chu, all these children have been watching too much sissy porn. (I hope you're not, anyway.)

So over to you. What makes a child trans?

stickygotstuck · 25/08/2025 17:17

MurkyWeather · 25/08/2025 16:50

Looks like the answer is 'trans' means 'trans'.

Quite.

But I honestly don't understand what it means anymore. For me it was shorthand for transexual. So old school 'sex change' surgery for a few people (almost always men) with such severe fixation/mental issues that physically altering their bodies was thought of as a somewhat acceptable measure.

Now, it would appear that anyone and anything are trans. Starting with myself according to some. And I really really don't think I am. But it's still not totally clear to me.

My working hypothesis is 'not Barbie, not GI Joe'. So 99.9% of the population then?

Igmum · 25/08/2025 17:55

Susie Green is a truly evil woman. And what are the odds that every single child who approaches that clinic will be labelled trans? Every single one. With other medical conditions where doctors actually diagnose patients’ own assessments are often wrong. With trans and the joys of affirmation they never are. Tell me this is social contagion propped up by a cult without telling me this is social contagion propped up by a cult.
