Funnily enough I'm not inclined to spend my morning reading 1000 posts on a historic thread, can you not just reference explicitly what you are talking about rather than being so opaque?

I really don't think after your posts today that you are one to post unhypocritically about opaqueness.

And suggestions.... do you remember all those links in the past that you have posted without any comment at all about why those links were relevant? Do you also remember telling people to do their own research?

😂

You've made an assertion that I've misrepresented Posie Parker / Kellie-Jay Keen, and not provided any evidence of this whatsoever.

And now you're making out that I'm the one with the problem because I'm not going through 1000 posts to prove something that hasn't happened in the first place. 🤣

@Annoyedone has repeatedly falsely asserted that I am a Reform/ Nigel Farage supporter and subsequent posts indicate some readers believe this, when nothing could be further from the truth.

They never have got back about their intention to do a deep dive on my posting history, have they 🤔

There are multiple lies about me on FWR, not just on this thread, and they stem from a desire to undermine me and misrepresent me to others.

I think my irony meter exploded.

Moving on...I watched You Tubes of the women in GUU.

I am fascinated why the manager felt he needed to inform them the bar was closed due to their beliefs and 'harm by words on banners'. Its quite odd.

Surely there were a host of alternative ways to communicate the message 'we will not be serving you' and not invite a lawsuit... e. g. due to unforeseen circumstances we simply cannot staff this bar, heres some bottles of pop and a partial refund... being the most obvious... but he just couldn't help himself he had to go with 'look what you made me do'...

Another genius move selecting this venue BTW! I do hope the Glasgow Locals women feel empowered to followup in law.

If any women who attended the event are here...thank you thank you thank you.

I think that there isn't any more to say Suggestions. If you cannot see the hypocrisy in what you have been posting, there is nothing more that I can say that will help you.

Baffling.

But I agree you're absolutely right, you clearly can not help me.

Yours too? It’s expensive replacing them constantly isn’t it 😂

spannasaurus · 10/08/2025 11:02

I wonder if it's the quality of the signs that made the bar staff feel unsafe. Maybe if they had been scrawled on a bit of old brown cardboard with chalk they would have been OK.

I could well imagine that he was proudly signalling his virtue and is now sitting back and awaiting the almost-universal plaudits. It might come as a surprise to him that he’s breaching the EA2010 by discriminating against a protected belief.

When these things happen I do always wonder if they do have a moment afterwards when they realise they’ve been ridiculous.

SidewaysOtter · 10/08/2025 11:12

Those banners show dedication, effort and planning. Dangerous traits in a woman, that.

Season 2 Couch GIF by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

I know, right?

'....it's....(chokes)...embroidery!!!!'

There must be a fainting couch behind the bar.

Also makes me think that a bar job at the Glasgow SU must be quite an easy number. I've worked in some proper rough pubs where there were actual scary situations where we actually felt unsafe, in a physical and verbal sense. If I had fled in floods of tears at a banner saying 'women's rights are not a hate crime', I would have been given some serious side eye at the very least.

SidewaysOtter · 10/08/2025 11:47

And I’d have thought Glasgow would be exactly the place you’d find pubs like this. Glasgow is where someone kicked the shit out a terrorist when he was already on fire, and where being called “pal” is a terrifying indicator of violence to come.

Being scared of a coloured banner is proper wet blanket territory.

woollyhatter · 10/08/2025 11:50

Waitwhat23 · 10/08/2025 09:45

These are the 'unsafe' signs which allegedly brought a grown man to floods of tears.

TBH I would love a sign which said in that font, “Middle Aged Woman: Beware, may roll eyes and tut.”

I can hear the cries of peeps feeling exterminated.

Oh dear. I find it truly bizarre that some of these youn’ uns are so horrified by these signs but yet are completely inured to violence against women and think Bonnie Blue is some sort of feminist icon. Says a lot about where society’s priorities are heading.

Harassedevictee · 10/08/2025 09:59

Julie Bindel and someone else, Sorry I forget who, both won cases where venue’s cancelled because of their views.

I think Women Won’t Wheesht might take this to court.

Joanna Cherry?

Thank you. I think JC got an apology so didn’t have to go to court.

I think JB got an apology too - IIRC it was Nottinghamshire County Council regarding an event at a library, and they backed down.

Glasgow pubs are generally very friendly and safe. In my quite extensive experience. 😊

That said, I've been in pubs while chairs sailed overhead and the karaoke just kept going ...

ArabellaScott · 10/08/2025 12:53

I also once watched a large fish in a fishtank in a Glasgow pub eat the only other, much smaller fish. In one gulp. That was quite disturbing.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 10/08/2025 13:00

@ArabellaScott, ha, the flying chairs reminded me of the time I was in a pub in the midlands and a bike helmet flew across the room and hit a particularly fighty man on the back of the head. When he turned around the look on his face was a real picture, 'murderous rage' almost covers it.

Imnobody4 · 10/08/2025 13:36

Ignoring all the boring stuff from a certain poster, I can't be bothered to read.
This links in with Angela Raynor's workers rights Bill. Staff must be protected from harassment etc.if a worker bursts into tears traumatised from signs, then presumably the employer will be held accountable.
It's either going to be refusing service to women's groups or not employing over sensitive narcissists.

Do you live an interesting life, or is that just Normal for Scotland?

ArabellaScott · 10/08/2025 13:36

The karaoke song playing at the time was 'Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong, sung by a skinny bloke with a pained expression and a sheen of sweat on his forehead, and a very tight grip on the mic. He was pretty good at dodging chairs, anyway.
