Looking forward to it - see you there!

ArabellaScott · 07/08/2025 11:32

Oh, bloody hell. If only I'd known!

sunshinechaser · 07/08/2025 11:42

I’ve never been to anything like this before but would be interested I think. How does it work? If I bought tickets to the Sunday brunch event do they tell you the location afterwards?

sunshinechaser · 07/08/2025 11:43

And would it be weird if I went on my own?

Yes, you'll be told the location and it absolutely won't be weird to come alone, this will be my 7th, and I went to the first 5 on my own, and will again at Hyde Park at the end of the month.
Everyone is very friendly.

Don’t think so. I’m working, so I can’t but otherwise I’d be going alone and joining in when I got there.

Thanks @ManyShapesOfPastaand @PriOn1

You can come along to the free event outside the Kelvingrove or of course buy a ticket to the Sunday brunch. They have to be very careful about locations as the #BeKind crew don't like women meeting up to talk about issues that concern them and are apt to cause trouble. You need to sign up to LWS with your details for a ticket with your address, email & phone number so you can be contacted just prior to the event. Why not come along to the free event Saturday afternoon? It's all in Glasgow. Definitely fine to come alone, I go to lots of things on my own. Just chat to any of the women there!

Just a wee reminder of who you are supporting when you turn up to this event; someone who is calling for landlords to refuse accommodation to trans people, simply on the basis that they are trans, and someone who is calling for employers to refuse employment to trans people, simply on the basis that they are trans. Which, of course, is illegal discrimination.

This is who you will be sitting next to, standing next to, nodding your heads to and applauding.

I'm hoping to be there on Saturday...I wonder if the Cabaret Against Hate (is that what it's called?) will make an appearance again...

Greyskybluesky · 07/08/2025 17:48

When I went to a recent LWS event, the women speaking there spoke about:

caring responsibilities and elder care
disability
higher education
sexual assault and rape
sports and park run
and a whole range of other topics

THAT is who I was supporting. Ordinary women who found their voice.
THAT is who I stood next to, nodded my head to and applauded.

I have heard they will be there. I am however reassured by how well the last LWS in Glasgow was policed. So much better done than the police presence in Edinburgh.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 07/08/2025 18:09

@Greyskybluesky, absolutely! I went to a LWS recently too and those were pretty much the subjects discussed. That's who I stand next to as well.

Editing to say that it's not at all weird if you turn up alone as everyone is very friendly.

GoldenGate · 07/08/2025 18:21

Will see but not the easiest place to get to or park especially on a Saturday. Pity our government haven't put the same effort into our roads as their doomed sex change policies.

Depending where you are coming in from there are a number of park and ride options at subway stations - then subway over to Kelvinhall station. That might make it a bit easier?

Impossiblenurse · 07/08/2025 19:02

Yep I stood next to women talking about leaving LLL and starting Moma.
Another woman talked about being exited from a gym membership. Another talked about domestic violence. Another talked about unions not representing women. Another talked about DV and women's refuge. Another talked about teaching and safeguarding. Another talked about fear and worry. Yeah I think I know exactly who I was standing with and beside...after being kettled by a braying mob and unprotected by the police.

Yeah but at least we’re not on the side of Reform. So there’s that. How are you enjoying being aligned with the right wing Reform party? They also believe men can be women. So by your logic…. You’re right wing 😂😂😂😂😂

Maybe you can get your new BFFs Nige and Anne to say something about it 🫶

Bless you, darling, and how is Jamie/Katie Wallis, first trans MP, getting on these days? What about Sarah Jane 'punch them in the fucking face' Baker? How's he doing with the moob protests?

Sweetheart - why don't you point me in the direction of where I am advocating that people go and attend lunches and speeches to simper over anyone advocating violence or discrimination and then get back to me?

Then perhaps do some general work on the poor quality of your parallels/ analogies / argumentation.

O and you can't make it! What a shame! But what could be more important than this @ArabellaScott ??!

Or are you perhaps worried your friends and family might see you in photos next to Posie Parker / Kellie Jay Keen, who is illegally calling for wholesale housing and employment discrimination against trans people?

that's fair enough. I'm glad you don't support Sarah Jane Baker.

ScottishSheepie · 07/08/2025 22:02

I would have liked to attend but a) I’m working in Paisley that day and b) I’m only just seeing this, due to your post.
Maybe next time.

No, mate. I'd love to go, but can't. Hence my comment expressing regret.
