Why? Why do they need weapons? 🤔

So you’re saying JK Rowling isn’t a woman? You’re really doubling down in the defence of misogynistic men. Wow! So as well as the transphobia you showed earlier, you are also misogynistic. Well they say when someone shows you who they are, believe them. And I think you’ve just done that.

Umm, no. I'm saying that insulting someone is not the same as advocating violence against them.

I suspect there's a number of reasons:

  1. There is a marked difference between the range of views you will find expressed in a group of 100,000 compared to a few dozen or maybe a couple of hundred at most.
  2. Some of those events don't so much need signs when they have actual literal neo-nazis showing up.
  3. Again, signs aren't so much needed when you have actual direct violence against trans people and their supporters, such as a steward being assaulted at last year's trans pride protest.
  1. What there's been more than a dozen at LWS events? Give over.
  2. Far right blah blah blah. You really don't want to go down the guilt by association route given the behaviour of TRA's.
  3. Or the several women attacked by TRA's at women's rights events? Aberdeen, speakers corner, Edinburgh etc etc etc.

The kind of events which are being discussed in this thread are just a chance for women hating misogynists to openly insult or make violent threats towards women while others present choose not to notice or cheer them on.

Can you link us to any examples of trans men behaving violently at protests?

Sure, I’ll try to have a look for an exact example for you once I finish work, as it’s really coming across that you are genuinely interested in hearing another side to this.

And where do using sex-based pronouns and wanting single-sex spaces, sports & services fit on the scale?

So are you saying words are not violence? I thought they were. That’s what the TRA have been saying. Are you saying they’re wrong? I thought using the wrong words to someone was assault if the highest order and a matter for the police.

  1. Thats why I referred to a couple of hundred at most.
  2. The lack of self awareness in trying to tie 100,000 protesters to some anarchists advocating what anarchists advocate for, and then complain about guilt by association. I’d take sharing a protest with anarchists over neo-Nazis any day.
  3. By far and away the majority of signs on display on Saturday were directed at Wes Streeting and Keir Starmer. Almost like the target for criticism is based on willingness to make trans lives harder rather than based on the sex or gender of the person doing so.

Maybe try sticking to what I say. If you want to discuss what someone else says then I suggest you take it up with them.

No comment on the several women actually attacked by TRA's at women's rights events?

Or Sarah Jane Baker inciting a crowd to 'punch a terf'?

Etc etc

What’s that lassie? Shifting goalposts?

Waitwhat23 · 28/07/2025 19:09

Ducking the question, pal?

Tiredofwhataboutery · 28/07/2025 19:12

Maybe they mean with facts which would be an interesting change.

In what way do you think violent men who show up to peaceful women's rights demonstrations with balaclavas and weapons to assault women are better than neo-Nazis?

I would have thought it was quite relevant, no?

Sarah Jane Baker was convicted of attempted murder, and since his release from jail goes round inciting violence against feminists.

Do you think it would be a good idea for him to be armed?

I’m referring to the protest on Saturday which featured a banner by ‘Hackney Anarchists’. Keep up.

I don’t think anyone should be armed, which may be one reason I’m not an anarchist.

Which said "arm trans people".

People like Sarah Jane Baker and the thugs who show up to disrupt Let Women Speak events manage to be violent enough without guns, don't you think?

What a horrifically irresponsible thing to say.

SammyScrounge · 28/07/2025 19:28

hholiday · 27/07/2025 19:35

Why are they allowed to march about cities threatening women in this way? The authorities have got to get a grip.

Their threats should be enough to have them declared a terrorist organisation, surely?

Quite.

The idea that trans people should arm themselves with guns to fight against people saying words they don't like has Charlie Hebdo vibes.

Absentmindedsmile · 28/07/2025 19:39

Sadiq Khan supported the march.

What? He’s supporting men telling everyone they want to bear arms and kill women? What?

Sadiq Khan should be arrested for supporting and therefore promoting violence against women and girls.

Anarchists supporting widespread arming of citizens isn’t particularly shocking is it? Certainly it shouldn’t be to anyone who knows anything about political philosophy.

I guess you’d call some terrorist organisations freedom fighters?

It’s more a male thing. It’s not unusual for some men to rely on threats and violence when women say no.

So why do trans people want to be associated with that sort of messaging?

Doesn't it rather undermine their harmless and vulnerable schtick?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 28/07/2025 21:03

PlanetJanette · 28/07/2025 19:56

Which organisation would that be then?

I mean, trans activists posted instructions for how to make a pipe bomb along with JK Rowling's home address on Twitter.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...
