A quick google would tell you that sharia law in the U.K.has no legal authority and positions like this are there to provide guidance, advice and mediation

InterrobangsArePureBias · 27/07/2025 13:16

Sharia courts have existed since the early 80s. Full Fact has something about them. Late December 2024 the Telegraph reported the UK has 85.

Other religious councils and tribunals exist.

DiscoBob · 27/07/2025 13:17

Muslims (some of them) try to abide by it as part of their religion, but it's not law in the UK.

So they would get guidance from their Imam about matters of Sharia law. They still must abide by all the laws that everyone else does in this country.

It's no more law than the doctrine of Sikhism, Hinduism, Christianity or Judaism are. Though many principles of the main religions are similar and focus on respect for family, decency and honesty.

Idgaf. I do not want my taxes going towards funding a system that oppresses women. It's ridiculous. On one hand, we have to go to court to be let have female only rape crisis centres otoh Muslims can get funding for posts to give guidance on bloody sharia law? No.

Coffeeishot · 27/07/2025 13:22

It will be an advisor muslims live in the uk but have their own customs that don't always comply with uk law these jobs help people negociate legalities,

So you don't agree with diversity for all Brittish women then ?

Could you be more specific with what you're asking whether I agree with please. I've been perfectly clear precisely what I disagree with here, but to clarify for the hard of thinking its any and all state ratification or permission to an extremist religious system of pseudo lay that is used to oppress women.

You thought right. We do. 😊

I see you've edited your post from "so you dont agree with diversity then". Your amendment is almost as waffly as the original so you needn't have bothered.

What taxes have gone towards funding this post?

What ‘state ratification or permission’ are you referring to in this case?

InterrobangsArePureBias · 27/07/2025 13:35

Southall Black Sisters, IKWRO, Centre for Secular Space are some of the organisations that used to speak at a range of conferences. They all campaigned against religious councils and tribunals.

If you fact checked instead of swallowing every bit of racist crap on X, you would know that this is funded by Muslims in a Muslim organisation - the racist idiot posting this on X doesn't know what a job advertisement board is. The job is not with the DWP and they are not funding it. I'd have added "as any idiot could work out" but apparently that wouldn't be true.

I know people don't like it when the OP is quoted, but I think that the question bears answering in the simplest possible terms...

No, it isn't true.

Luckily for you, your taxes aren’t contributing to this role. HTH.

PermanentTemporary · 27/07/2025 13:43

Ive been on X for a few years and it is mostly engagement farmers these days. So you could choose not to drive traffic/funding to someone who makes you ask headline-the questions to which the answer is ‘no’.

ExploringDreams · 27/07/2025 13:43

Honestly, fact check things you come across on social media. It’s all designed to spread hate and division.

You’re assuming the OP and the other poster predicating their views on falsehoods were unaware of the facts, rather than aware of them and more concerned with whipping up outrage.

Some posters are just gullible. Others are malicious.

But they are advertising it? Would they advertise a position at "Sex Matters"?

Really? Manchester Community Centre receives no government funding, either directly or indirectly?

Yes.

So have you rowed back on your claim that your taxes are being used to fund this position?

Do you have any evidence they wouldn’t. Employers register then post their vacancies.
