Mayor of London Sadiq Khan speaks out on Supreme Court’s definition of ‘sex’

“As the Mayor of London I meet regularly with trans Londoners and I know the stigma they face, the discrimination they face. I know this is one of those vulnerable communities across the country and across the world, and I’m fed up with trans people being used as a political football.

“I’m fed up with them being at the centre of a cruel cultural war. And that’s why it’s really important that the Equality and Human Rights Commission comes up with proper guidance because what I don’t want is us to regress the rights that have been hard-fought and won been rowed back.”

I was going to add this to the tread about Labour letting down the trans community but that has been deleted for infringing copyright.

So is it islamophobia to talk about a man who does follow all tenets of faith or talk about a man that doesn't?

Or just talk about a muslim at all?

It's not very clear at all from your post.

We are judging his performance in the role. His choosy choice equality performance where he manages to publicly support the legal requirements when it's a male advantage, one that actively damages lesbians, and only because his job would be untenable if he didn't, but behaves appallingly over a terrible blight on children because of the ongoing protection his religion attracts via the use of the words islamophobic and racism.

Something you are here joining in with.

Edited

All im saying is that his advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights is longstanding, he hasn't changed his position as far as i can see
Many other politicians have the same position.

I've never heard him voice his religious beliefs when advocating for the community, in fact i've never heard him talk about his religious beliefs informing his politics in any context? (willing to be corrected, but i just cant remember any occasion)

it feels unfair for others to invoke his religion to invalidate his views on gender equality and trans people when it doesnt happen with other trans advocate politicians. No one regularly pulls up christian politicians who are Trans Inclusive and uses their religion as a beating stick!

of course disagree with him on this issue, fine. Its a contentious issue. But i think it is Islamophobic to use his religion in a way that isnt used for other religions.
That was my point.

Never and no-one.

Seriously?

You have absolutely no idea.

How many other religions have a phobic suffix?

If he was interested in LGB rights - as opposed to that little acronym meaning solely 'trans obedient' - he might have a fuck to give about the protections to lesbian and gay people within the supreme court judgement.

He doesn't.

That was in 2022 so goodness knows what it's like now. I can't see any improvement under his watch.

How do you feel about lesbians being hassled by men in skirts Mayor? Are these the same poor oppressed trans people who push no debate / no platform? So is it fuck women and fuck free speech and I’m just going to hang on to my shiny new toy (the fallacy of transsexual victim hood?)
