Montgomery Toms has been arrested for wearing a sign showing the pink & blue stripes of trans=mental illness.

Arrested. What has happened to free speech in this country?

Yes, but she seems to believe that her son has done no wrong as he can use his free speech and is a beacon of courage and truth.

Free speech is protected, hate speech is not. Any communication which is threatening or abusive, and is intended to harass, alarm, or distress someone is forbidden. The penalties for hate speech include fines, imprisonment, or both.

In my book, having a sign which is offensive to trans people at an LGBT pride parade comes under hate speech because it was clearly done to upset the trans people who where there, knowing they would be there because it is LGBT pride. So yes, someone committing the crime of hate speech does belong in a police station and not being praised for harassing people or shown kindness for being so unpleasant in public.

And yes, before you bring up the kill a TERF signs, those people belong in prison too. Hate speech from anyone, about anyone, is unacceptable in a civilised society.

Ooohhhhh. In that case…. How come all the men with a trans identity never seem to get arrested for the threatening and abusive communications? You know, the people you’re telling us to be kind to?

SugarSoiree · 07/07/2025 20:45

Annoyedone · 07/07/2025 20:39

Well you’re the one telling us to be kind to people who threaten women, assault women, issue death and rape threats and disrupt women meeting so er…..

Please show me where I have said you should be kind to people committing the crime of hate speech or assault.

Unless you are making the sweeping generalisation that all those things listed are what is meant by trans people, who yes, deserve kindness as much as everyone else.

Many people are not arrested for their crimes. It is a failure of policing.

That doesn't mean that the ones that are arrested should be let off in the name of fairness.

You're being deliberately obtuse, this term is not used about a man in a dress in Sainsbury's you might need to to describe, it is used here regularly to ridicule trans women.

And if that trans women is wearing a dress I would be telling the truth if I described them as a man in a frock. I mean you shouldn't presume someone's gender based on how they present should you.

No it isn't. It's used to describe men.

You're the one who thinks wearing a dress is ridiculous.

so where is the kindness from men wearing dresses who invade women’s spaces even though they know it makes women anxious and uncomfortable? Do ALL. Transpeople deserve kindness? Isla Bryan? Karen White? Katie Dolowski? Are you telling men to be kind and not judge men in their spaces who are wearing gender non conforming clothes? If not why not? Why is it up to women to be kind? If you really believed men with a trans identity were women, surely you’d be telling them to be kind, budge up, minimise themselves. Wouldn’t you?

Why would people be kind to someone who was arrested for being provocative and unpleasant?

Are people regularly kind to unpleasant people?

how about to his mum?

Can just ask you honestly. Have you never heard of autogynephilia?

Do you not understand that men fetishise women's oppression and then call themselves transwomen?

(no not all, but a significant number. Specifically many of those who want into women's spaces)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/07/2025 20:54

SugarSoiree · 07/07/2025 20:30

Trans women. Obviously. There is already a non offensive term for these people, why do you need to invent an offensive one?

Too bad. I won’t be calling them women because they aren’t women in any sense whatsoever.

Waitwhat23 · 07/07/2025 20:55

Yet, you didn't make innumerable posts on this thread objecting to the term. Just TRA.

Why? Seems remiss of you.

Waitwhat23 · 07/07/2025 21:02

And yes, before you bring up the kill a TERF signs, those people belong in prison too. Hate speech from anyone, about anyone, is unacceptable in a civilised society.

Sarah Jane Baker, a male who is also a convicted murderer, was cleared of incitement to violence after telling a baying crowd 'if you see a Terf, punch them in the fucking face'.

Hate crime against women seems to be completely fine! And there's been other instances where women have actually been punched in the face at events.

murasaki · 07/07/2025 21:17

Surely it's ok to call someone a man in a frock if they are in fact a man in a frock?

WiseAquaCat · 07/07/2025 21:31

God what a horrible thread! Talk about a pile on

SugarSoiree · 07/07/2025 20:27

I don't know what "a bit radge" means.

I have complained about the use of " men in frocks" in this thread.

If i know the name of the man in a frock I'll use it, but if I'm phoning security because the leary guy in the bar is now outside my room door with a packet of scampi fries and a bottle of Lambrini, I'm going to describe him as a man in a dress.

Because that's what I can see. Whether the man in a dress had womanly feels and thinks he is a woman or just likes the way the breeze hits his balls on a summers evening when he's wearing a dress is none of my business and I don't like to make assumptions.

so I just say what I see.

Calling a man a woman because you believe how a person thinks is what makes them a woman is incredibly offensive to women.

But it's pretty clear only some people's feelings matter in this.

Calling aan a trans woman is not offensive to women because a trans woman and a woman are two different things.

She is endorsing hate speech and calling it courage. She needs to be told the truth, that this is unacceptable.

Would people usually be kind to criminals mums who are endorsing their crimes by saying there there, it's ok, it's a good thing that your child committed a crime!?

Well that's ironic considering you have quite a few posts on this very thread telling women off for not being kind to misogynists.

But here, there are no trams women to see, or describe, so all the references to men in frocks are just done to be offensive to trans women aren't they. Be honest.

They're men.

It's just a usual night in FWR.

Anyone who doesn't fall into like and use offensive language about trans people, trans women in particular are piled on.

Are we counting the very very many people, both in public roles and as private individuals, who have told their children and other people's children to ignore the SC clarification on the legal meaning of sex and the rights of women and just do whatever the fuck they want?

How about the MSPs smiling in front of the decapitate TERFs sign, we cool with that then?

There's Sarah "punch a TERF" Baker's speech of course, didn't see much TRA condemnation to that either.

So apparently yes, people are entirely comfortable with aggression, incitement to violence and hate as long as it's directed at women saying no to colonisation by men.
