Islington Council slams 'botched' single sex spaces guidance

The council argues that the new guidance, which suggests that staff should check a person’s sex at birth before granting access to single-sex services or spaces, is unworkable and risks breaching individuals’ privacy and exposing them to harassment.

"Expecting reception staff in a busy leisure centre or a domestic violence service to determine whether someone is trans, without subjecting them to harassment or breaching their right to privacy, is not practical.

"It risks legal confusion and a culture of suspicion.

"That’s why we have called for the EHRC to pause this botched process – properly listening to trans communities – rather than simply causing further confusion."

Women say no and men feel entitled to carry on anyway. Same old. Same old.

Exactly. Nothing new here.

Polling shows that the UK population agree with the Supreme Court ruling.

I would say when encountering a man flashing in a women's single sex space in the name of coercive control and abuse this is certainly the time to get your camera out, and then share the film widely. It would always be possible to get a list of useful people here to tag in.

It will move things along.

It all points to the reality that tons of transgender people live in what's called stealth, which means people around them do not know that they are trans. This forum refuses to acknowledge that this marvel exists, and yet there are tons of stealth trans people around.

Rather unfortunate that absolutely zero of them are involved in the "trans rights" movement, and instead they're campaigning for the rights of obvious blokes.

Can I suggest you start a campaign for these stealth transgender people, and get some public representatives?

It is going to be rather difficult to get that campaign up and running, I predict.

Once women start to see the reasons for their discomfort articulated publicly by other women, those male people who would apparently be representing this group will simply keep focusing the spotlight where that group really don’t want it focused. That women and girls will actually start to think about it all and realise that whether a male person is in ‘stealth’ or not, they need to have single sex spaces to be single sex.

The more this gets publicly discussed on media, the greater awareness women and girls have of the issues and the better they can articulate it themselves. I really think that those male people who demand they are given access to female single sex spaces understand what they are doing cannot be presented in anyway that ultimately convinces female people that it should continue.

That they are in ‘stealth’ does quite the opposite to what they believe it might. I say bring on the media discussions! We need more male person using the term ‘stealth’ while demanding entry to a space that is expected to be for female people only! Stealth! It says all that needs to be said, doesn’t it?

TheOtherRaven · 04/07/2025 09:14

As women who consent to provide their bodies to men for validation will all be able to be in the gender neutral space with said men anyway, the single sex space will only be for those women who want it. And get the concept of it.

All that is required is that men are able to stay away from trying to control and harass non consenting women.

And when they are targeting and intentionally invading spaces to access those non consenting women, it all becomes a whole lot clearer as to what is going on.

Again, I feel rather sorry for the women who are so willing to provide themselves for the nurture of men, and who are repeatedly shown that they won't do. Unless they're distressed, afraid, humiliated, angry and refusing - they're no fun. They're not providing the experience required.

Women say no and men feel entitled to carry on anyway. Same old. Same old.

And everytime the discussion is had, those women reading the words of these male people who argue that they are coming in anyway develop the understanding that they probably didn’t have before.

That these male people fully prioritise themselves and never female people.

usedtobeaylis · 04/07/2025 09:17

The energy spent on trying to bulldoze women is incredible. Imagine if that energy actually went into campaigning for anyone's rights. Even gay rights has been completely consumed by this. It's pathetic and parasitic and so very, very male.

I hope everyone on the thread can see from this little swaggering male power trip why the GRA needs to be repealed.

Indeed.

Operation: Let them speak!!

Hear hear.

I did think initially that the SC would make this manageable but no, the evidence is pretty clear now. The GRA is going to have to go.

Nice idea, but men can't behave in ways that make it possible.

Helleofabore · 04/07/2025 09:23

STEALTH

It really is a much underused term. I think we need to see it plainly for all its worth.

Can everyone see it yet?

Absolutely. When advocates for homosexual rights engaged with the public, rationally and sensibly, support for gay people steadily increased over time. The more people like Aida do, the more the public becomes sceptical about their motives and is put off.
So go for it, I say.

Leafstamp · 04/07/2025 09:30

Once again, thank you to @AidaP for showing us all exactly what the trans movement is about. Well done Sir.

Datun · 04/07/2025 09:30

AidaP

Section 28 wasn't about banning anyone from anywhere, it was about teaching homosexuality in schools.

The EHRC didn't change anything, they clarified that single unit toilets could be provided in work.

The Goodwin case about privacy is not an absolute right if interferes with other laws, which of course it does. (Plus no one would mistake Goodwin for a woman anyway.)

And the right to privacy cannot mean that you change the meaning of sex in the equality act, don't be so silly

If a service provider believes you are male they can deny you access, on that basis alone, and if you refuse to comply, they can call security.

Of course, if you then harass staff, you will be arrested by the police.

And lifting up your skirt to expose your genitals is indecent exposure. Please don't do that if you want to stay out of jail.

As for going stealth, as necessary says, Since there are loads, perhaps they could go on TV. Put their case across visually.

Or if not loads, maybe just a handful.

Or one.

Yes, it's becoming clearer and clearer that there is no level of acceptable "true trans". No matter what they do to themselves they're male through and through.

This is one of the more effective "Let Them Speak" threads I've seen. It mystifies me what Aida hopes to achieve.

Also, the gay rights movement didn't have a long term aim of enabling all gay people to stay in the closet, living narrow, restricted lives.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 04/07/2025 09:39

Interesting to see that the public face of transactivism is still focused on refusing to follow the law and social contract along with intimidating and bullying women. Oh and with a good dollop of flashing / indecent exposure, moob exposure and pissing on the streets.

Very revealing isn't it? 😂

Greyskybluesky · 04/07/2025 09:44

TheOtherRaven · 04/07/2025 09:04

Yes I lost all interest at this point.

Flashing is a sexual offense, and it's often an early step on the ladder to severe sexual offending. Threatening to flash women to control and coerce them into submission, well yes that adds even more weight to the likelihood of escalation. And I see we've reached the 'if you didn't make me angry I wouldn't have to abuse you' line as well.

It's instructive. These men are going to force the creation of new criminal offenses that have not been needed to this point in history. But the chances of getting a man like this to refrain from harassing and abusing non consenting women (as opposed to the consenting ones in the mixed sex spaces) without prosecution? And the evidenced values of such a man?

Well the evidence is everywhere now.

It's notable that that was the poster's first post on this thread. Straight in with the sexual offence. Exposure is the go-to action.

No thank you.
