Going to have to repectively disagree with you there I'm afraid.

The poster doubled-down in their next post:
But there are quite clearly people on this board who are opposed to trans rights and anybody suggesting that there is not is not being honest (perhaps even with themselves).
but repeatedly declined to explain what they meant.

respectfully, soz

I will soon be overrun with courgettes. I give it a week!

That happened to me last year and then I made this recipe zucchini pickles and now I know how to deal with a glut. So good on a sandwich especially one with cheese.

Sorry, I was having a snooze. And I notice someone nicked the wonderful dessert whilst I snoozed!

Uncanny!

I don’t agree about the something else in the background and see it simply as a bit defensive after her position on moderation was misinterpreted and challenged. Sometimes we do race from one post to the next and/or make posts in haste, threads can move quickly and clarity can be lost.

It was not wholly clear to me whether use of the term ‘trans rights’ was being made in terms of suggesting TW needed more rights than they currently have, but I don’t think that was the intention. Anyhow, this sums up my perspective:

To women, our rights and no less. To transpeople, their rights and no more.

I don’t believe that the position on moderation was necessarily misunderstood. I think,
looking back, people were attempting to establish the intention of the poster’s point around ‘trans rights’.

I wondered why this tedious thread was still going - and here you all are - picnicking on the proceeds of all the gardener's best efforts

Yep that quote annoyed me too. It’s a gross miss presentation of the regular posters here. I would love for someone to tell us what rights trans people don’t have and what rights the posters on this board are against.

Amazing what a good dump of manure can do!

I'm assuming the claims about reducing trans rights is about repealing the GRA?

Obviously that should have been misrepresentation! Bloody fat fingers!

I've read them but I disagree why do you keep restricting my voice?

It is MNHQ that removes posts, @BeeSouriante - not ordinary posters in the Feminism section, or anywhere else on Mumsnet.

If you are having posts removed, it is because they have breached MNHQ’s Talk guidelines, pure and simple.

If you tell me human beings can actually change sex, I will defend your right to state your opinion. And I will be free to tell you that it is scientifically and medically impossible to change a person’s sex.

Edited

As the Supreme Court confirmed, a GRC is pretty worthless anyway as nobody can ask to see it, can record it or mention it in any way.

So...

Helleofabore · 22/06/2025 16:29

I think that I am suspicious of anyone who writes blanket statements relating to feminists as ‘opposing trans rights’ . While there seems to be one ‘right’ in law regarding changing identification to say a male person is a ‘legal’ woman, I personally would describe much of the over reach that women are discussing with a view to change is guidance and policy. Do legal professionals refer to those policies and guidance points as ‘rights’ or consider them to be privileges or another term.

Either way, we are constantly told, or even had yelled at us in protests, that certain women ‘hate’ trans rights and want to erase all those rights. This is where blanket statements are confusing and they may be incorrect depending on what is meant by the terms.

It is not a statement that I am going to agree with without clarification. And it seems to me that asking for clarification was considered offensive by someone who also had complained that they had reported bullying and it hadn’t been deleted.

Is the picnic cancelled? Bugger. I'd made a cake (strangely enough with my homemade blackcurrant jam!)

For those with fruit gluts, I make liqueurs - my recipe (slightly modified from Good Food)

600g blackcurrants
750ml red wine
500g sugar
Large glass of gin or vodka.

Tidy up the berries (removing stalks, leaves and insects) and tip into a ceramic bowl. Pour over the wine and mash with a potato masher. Leave to macerate for two days with a tea towel over it, mashing occasionally. Pour through a sieve into a pan and add the sugar. Heat gently until the sugar has dissolved and then simmer for 5 minutes. Leave to cool then add the gin or vodka. Pour into sterilised bottles and keep for up to a year.

For strawberry liqueur, the same as above but with white wine.

Amazing! I like the sound of thornless blackberry. My blackcurrant is DENSE with blackcurrants - I’ve been see seen anything like it. The cucumbers are going crazy too.

Looks like we’re in for a bumper year of everything! Maybe we could have a MN Horticultural Show later in the year.

Strangely enough, I was just reading through the booklet for the Agricultural Show for a village near us and deciding whether I wanted to create a miniature seashore (40x40) or decorate a plate (I do love some of the batshit very specific requirements)

Beautiful 😍

Alas you neglected to remove all the insects, one pesky little blighter remains!

I make mistakes all the time when posting. Even using the 'preview' button I still don't notice them until I post. However, I hardly ever notice other posters' mistakes until they point them out. I usually issue corrections to my posts on MN because of the fierce, pedantic wordsmiths on here (love you 😘)

When Whatsapp first came out, I corrected like mad until I realised that the generation below me weren't bothering. Now even my friends of my age group don't bother unless it is a serious error, like giving the wrong date for a meet up. It's quite liberating!

I’m the same but mostly notice during the time I can edit. I didn’t this time then it really annoyed me when I saw what I had concocted!

I don’t believe that the position on moderation was necessarily misunderstood. I think,

This was indeed my (and others’) query and I was a little taken aback at the aggression and odd misrepresentations that came back.

Normally if you feel that someone has misunderstood your position, you (one) would explain and hopefully clear up the misunderstanding but no explanation was ever forthcoming.

Anyway, I have eaten lots of cake, planted some more plants and seen a zip into dds prom dress this afternoon so I might have a nap now.

Agree that was unclear. The poster used the term trans rights without explaining what they meant. Going by later posts I was interpreting this as not ‘advocating for more rights’ but it all got a bit confusing (to me).

Okay I’m happy to be corrected. I thought about going back to read all the posts to double check what was being said but that was a lot of effort for Sunday afternoon. So it was a sweeping statement about FWR posters opposing trans rights. That is an unusual position for a GC lesbian lawyer and it would have been interesting to have had that explained more fully.

Me too. I questioned it but it seems to have been considered offensive.
