Dawson is a male person who has undergone extreme body modification to match his body to his identity. His identity is based on his philosophical belief and it doesn't reflect material reality. Hence, needing extreme body modification to to make parts of it fit the fuckable body that Dawson has publicly discussed he wanted to have.

I'd have more to say about his calling women 'maggots' than his pronouns, to be honest. Although actually far more damaging is someone who writes books aimed at teenage girls that include lines like “let them use your body and get fucked both ends like a little piggy,” and “You’re a fucking cum slut. Exactly this. TBH, if I were ever unfortunate enough to be in the vicinity of this man, I would firstly have to ask myself how that happened, because I cannot imagine a scenario where our lives would collide, and secondly would take the decision to leave, I refuse to validate these men.

The other point about women having the 'courage' to use male pronouns for Dawson does have some truth. I would be extremely wary of Dawson were I to meet him. I would be unlikely to say anything that might make him angry, given his history of using dehumanising and overwrought rhetoric towards women.
